This video is really useful cos you showed how to use the auto stick while driving it. Thanks for the share

Sounds even better if you get exhaust cutouts :) Especially since auto stick overrides the MDS so it won't run on 4cylinders and sound like a UPS truck.

@ImaWreckingBa1112 жыл бұрын
Even if it is only a 50-60 HP difference it is still a HUGE difference. It takes a lot of money just to add 20 HP to your car. Plus this car is a lot lighter than you. And your right, its not all about going fast in a straight line but your charger is going to stand better in a straight line than in the turns with the R8. The R8 is AWD and is outstanding in the corners.

I completely agree with you about the Challenger, I personally can't wait to own one. I just wish they would bring out a true stick shift for the Charger and I'll be all over that right now! ;P

I recently bought 2006 Charger R/T. I know its nothing like the '73 version but I enjoy driving it. Its fast, roomy and can easily be driven around as a family car yet destroy most of competition in a drag race. If you want a pure muscle car go with Challenger.

No, I was saying that it can hang on an expressway as it did. No doubt RX8 would kill a charger in a straight line or any other kind of a race. In fact you'd need to supercharge the charger to stand any sort of a chance. But when driving in traffic it comes down to driver to get the most out of the car. And charger can perform on the road pretty damn good even with the autostick.

True, while I sometimes feel slothful on the way home from work and being exhausted, I'd still like to break lose and have some fun. Which would be better in a stick.
@metsu96213 жыл бұрын
@MoparDodge93 Yep, absolutely. The physics of transmissions haven't changed on this car. So when you downshift you're still changing the ration of engine turns to wheel turns, basically making the engine turn faster or "engine braking". A jerk and some revs is very normal in manual mode. The car's automatic mode is more smooth of course, but we live for that feel don't we? You will notice upshifting in manual is not as smooth as well sometimes
@DHTVproductions11 жыл бұрын
thanks for the great video. I read the manual for my challenger but I was confused. This really cleared things up
@metsu96213 жыл бұрын
@rafalldownthestairs The autosticks are for people who desire a little more fun with the car. Being in more control than an automatic is more thrilling. It also makes up for lack of a "sport" mode in the transmission as a user can generally rev the engine higher before shifting. And it is only important to time the shift correctly if you are worried about gas consumption.
@johngrabitz469610 жыл бұрын
I have a 2006 Charger SRT8 that will up shift automatically. This is taught adoring the SRT Track Experience. Originally it would not. I had to take it in to have the programing changed. It will up shift in all gears at WOT when it hits its shift RPM before redline. MAX power thru all gears with the computer shifting it is faster than a manual stick. No human can shift as fast as the computer without loosing power in the shift.
@smithkid19969 жыл бұрын
no human can shift that fast? charger autos shift preeeeeetty slow, just sayin...
@johngrabitz46969 жыл бұрын
I don't know what mode you are trying to drive the charger in, but it sounds like you are in the auto mode. There is a second mode that allows you to use it in a manual mode if the stick is moved to the left. This allows the driver to control the gear its in or the computer. The computer will shift at the top of the power curve. This may only be available on the SRT models. Thus a better shift without loss of power to the wheels. A manual transmission looses power to the wheels when the clutch is pushed in. I'm saying that the computer on the auto stick in the manual mode will out shift any manual transmission.
@metsu96213 жыл бұрын
@MoparDodge93 You can do either or. Since it downshifts for you, I just let it handle it. It will toggle over to first for you when you stop and it will downshift as you brake. But you can still do it manually if you want to. As I said in the video, it won't let you downshift if it maxes out the rpms either.

niiiiiice- I was wondering exactly how this stuff worked! thanks a lot!!! :)
@BigZman9513 жыл бұрын
Not yet, no. But I could make one eventually. Yeah it's a tiptronic with six gears. Always starts in fourth. The nice thing is too if your RPMs get too high or too low, it automatically shifts. And lets say I'm in third and my RPMs are too high to shift down to second, it beeps to let you know you can't do it. The only thing is manually shifting it sucks the gas. If I just have it in drive a little ECO light comes on if I'm not accelerating hard or climbing a hill etc.

Me and my dad are right around the 6' 4" 345lbs mark. And both of us, my mom, and my girlfriend all fit in it exceptionally well. And the seats come forward really far. So carseats won't be a problem. If you have a small family or are looking to start one, it'd work. Other Scions are pretty roomy as well.

You don't have to let off the accelerator when shifting. In all sense it's like an automatic transmission with a little human input :)
@metsu96213 жыл бұрын
Yep, this is true. I dunno though, I could never get use to that feeling (or lack of feeling) from shifting in cars like that. I'd think I'd just rather have the ole clutch and stick feel.

@HotCet When you shift it yourself? No. It's better to let the car handle it. One thing I'm not sure on is if the MDS turns itself off when you override the shifting. I don't have an indicator light for MDS on the '06.

@coolguy96abc Yeap they do. It should be mentioned in the owner's manual somewhere. And yes, the MDS is designed pretty well. When you go to pass, it doesn't take much time to get all 8 going again and have the power on standby. I've actually gotten accustomed to how it feels so I know when it's working when I go to step on the gas. Just a slight different in RPM gain. Check out my vid on MPG to prove MDS is on mine :D

@BigZman95 Damn that thing does suck a lot of gas! I thought you'd get better with that car. Oh well anything over 20 is good in my opinion. I use to average 22mpg with the charger's v8 because I did a lot of highway driving (and if I didn't play too much with it). Now I moved and do mostly city driving so I get low averages of 17 or so. Oh well, still don't spend as much on gas due to proximity. In a couple years I need to get a new winter car, might check out the tC.

In all honesty tho, Charger SRT8 can keep up with challenger or any other muscle car out there. My R/T drives nicely, too. Its been tuned up with predator but otherwise has been untouched. I drove it on the expressway last week. Some guy with Audi R8 was tailing me so I punched it. He tried to keep up with me but had a very hard time doing so. Not bad considering that Audi was probably pushing 400+HP.

Basically eco means that it's conserving as much fuel as possible. If I drove with ny eco light on, I'd get about 28 MPG. Having a good mix between economical driving and fun driving, I average about 21.2 MPG to 24.1 MPG appx. It only has a four banger but it's a pretty big one at 2.5l. This other kid at my school has an Eclipse GTS with a V6 and it has 210hp but my tC has 180hp+ and if I happen to get the money for a turbo it'd boost my HP up to 333hp, but I'm not sure I want to put Premium in

I also really like having the tiptronic. Cuz I don't feel like shifting I don't have to. But if I want then I can. And I'm not amazing at driving a stick (at least not in anything besides my 71 Chevy C20) so it's nice to at least learn the feel of when to shift. Personally I like to downshift when stopping cuz it slows me way down. Of course I have high performance brakes. So those can always stop fast, especially on a small car like my tC.
