@@stephanienoelle9812 I think so if I remember correctly I got up to 80-90mph in about the same amount of time and effort it would take to maintain a speed of 60mph. I think it helps that car car turn better at those speeds too, but just take all of that with a grain of salt.

blacktop hemi R/T What diesel did you find with a sport mode switch? Because exhaust braking doesn’t happen in gasoline cars. You car is shift braking because it’s running at higher RPMs, like a manual. Also, why do you need power for defensive driving? I can’t wrap my head around that.

Sport mode helps in city but I agree is jumpy. Helps slowing down to lights since it drags out the gears so you brake less. Exhaust sounds louder too! Such a cool feature dodge has

In the 2017 r/t.. since it has the active exhaust, the exhaust sounds way better on sports mode since it holds the higher revs longer and has more torque due to holding it in the lower gears.

I think the complete opposite. On the freeway it won’t go into 8th gear in sport mode, the revs hang high and just wastes fuel. Around town it hangs high rpm so it jumps quicker. The only reason I leave it in sport on that highway is it opens the active exhaust which just sounds phenomenal.

Sport and track mode completely change the car up in my widebody TA 392. The exhaust is louder and makes that pop and crack sounds on down and up shifts. Track modes shifts fast and each shift throws me back in my seat when getting on it.

In case you never got an answer, yes, you can set it up to display the gear it's in. The instrument cluster has a ton of settings in it that most people don't even know about.

Sport mode is best on manual transmission. And it take a lot more skill on manual and I use it every time I drive my 2017 RT and it goes faster and the steering wheel does get a bit stiff the downer is the consumption of gas but is OK, first thing I do when I start my car is, traction control off and sports mode on....

Many new cars are no longer using a true manual transmission, but doing what's called AutoStick... I have a 200s. My Sport mode switch is on the dial shifter

What are safe rpms to use for acceleration in sports mode when not in a regular car?

Not sure what regular car is, but you don't need to worry about safe rpm. It's safe as long as you don't go in the red zone. With an automatic transmission, the car is programmed to prevent you from doing this. Don't worry about the rpms. You won't hurt your car as long as you aren't gunning it on a cold engine. Let the engine warm up for several minutes before you go wild. Then have fun.

I have a 2008 gti with turbo and when I put it in sport mode it definitely runs faster but when I brake to slow down to like 20 or less and I'm only going like 40 my car like nudges forward like jumps alittle while I'm braking????? Is this normal???

The car does that in second gear because you need to shift to a higher gear. I think thats how manuals work, i have a toyota 86 and it has the same sequential manual like option. I just shift to a higher gear if the car doesn't sound comfortable in that gear.

Just got one used but it's a 12' now I understand why it shifts like it does. I gotta go in and fix some things. It feels good for sure but I disagree with the shift points. Why can’t the ECU adapt to my driving? If I start driving hard, engage the ‘sport’ stuff, perhaps it is so that it doesn’t have to guess and stiffen up the suspension and harden up the handling, but at least the engine could adapt itself to throttle demand, how long I hold onto the gears, etc.

I get the best gas mileage on the Highway while in sport mode and not using cruise control. This is after 8 tests on an 100 mile drive. speed is between 70 and 80 each drive. mileage with the 6 cyl 17 mpg vs 26.8 mpg Now I'm trying to figure out what the hell the super track button means lol
