Auto Update Charts in Excel

2 Ways to have Excel automatically update charts with any new data that is added to the source data for the chart.
This includes automatically adding new rows as well as new columns to a chart.
Once you implement one of the methods exhibited in this tutorial, you will never have to update your charts by hand again!

Have had problems in the past using the second method and your excellent tutorial showed me why - by making the references absolute! I didn't - hence problems. Did not know about the first, easy method, will keep it in mind for the future.

Perfect!!! I'm good on excel and I'm always learning here, thanks!!! Could I create another one starting from B1 counting the line 1 and putting the formula on width and mix with the video case? It will update when I add another month or product independently?

You're welcome :) I'm a little confused with your question though, do you mean to put the formulas so that they work with the columns and not just the rows? Thank u for the tutorial. I tried it but it somehow doesnt work - my chart doesnt get updated. My table is a linked to another table and whenever there are new data added to the source table, i would hv to drag my table to capture the new data and the chart range manually. By using this method of making my table in table format, it still doesnt get the chart updated automatically.

Sir, how about if the cells under month is automated because of vlookup? will it update automatically?

Hello! I cannot get the COUNTA to work with cells containing formulas. Therefore my table lists empty rows because it's thinking it has values in them. Would you know a way around this?

How do you delete a row and a column of data automatically? For example, If I wanted to delete January data and that get updated in the chart

would like to copy and paste the reference in the name manager but after copying the contents of the cell and clicking the name manager there is nothing to paste all greyed out. No idea, can get it to refer to the cell by clicking ok which I can then change using the cursor but this still not the formula

hi, I've got a different problem: I'd like my charts to update when I update/modify the data selected. I wil not be extending the dataset, just modifying it. It's a large spreadsheat, and the data is in the middle of the table so I can't tick "my data has a header' box without it some unwanted sorting tabs popping up in the middle of my table. Any idea how I can get the chart to update in this particular example?

Neither of these help because I need to select one row from a chart and graph them with another row being the x-axis.

Yess a good idea :) Sadly, anyone who has Excel 2003 or earlier is stuck with it :/
