As a German viewer: Fix it. I worked on those beemers many years, and the engines are great. Last engines that did not have too much environmental shit on it. The rad is usually broken, either the rad itself or the expansion tank on the left. So take a new rad, new expansion tank, grab a doorhandle, fill up aircon and check for leaks there. A good clean and a paintjob is needed, and then this car runs another ten years with no trouble at all. German cars ain't bad, they just need a bit care and ongoing maintenance.

Hey Randy, sorry for the problems you have with the old BMW. Video was awesome though. Loved watching to see if you made it home. Sure learn a lot when I watch you. Anxious for the next video. Have a great day and stay safe.

Newer Honda and toyotas bring in a lot $$$ at auctions! Same with newer vehicles, which we never see as well. Unfortunately, alot of the older toyotas and honda were shit and so were their engines!

*dude a $300.00 car the fact that you were able to start it at all beyond anything else it's well worth your time still. clean the thing up really good and swap the battery and get a new radiator for it, clean the engine. Then if you're going to throw a $300.00 Maaco paint job on it and post it up for $2,500.00 shouldn't have any trouble getting rid of it at that price once everything is done properly you may want to check the end of the Speedometer cable where it plugs into the transmission tail shaft the gear for the speed may just need to be replaced.Thanks though, seeing this and what it needs is getting me motivated to get out and work on my new Escalade project today, i needed this i think* WHEN DID YOU EVER REALLY HALF ASS A CAR WITH THIS MUCH POTENTIAL? Not a fan of Lucky's he is a great guy buy i don't appreciate how he half asses everything he gets. that may be his hustle, i just can't watch that. Do it right, do it all or just plain don't do it, PERIOD!

You just increase the price by 10 percent by pitting in 35 dollar of fuel :)

"THAT'S A DAMN TURKEY!!!" 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣 EDIT: If those rims are original, I would perhaps replace them with some replica stock rims, fix a few things to make it run reliably, sell the expensive rims separately and then send it down the road. At the end of the day, it's all about how much meat will be left on the bone after you fix it.

Hey randy just from my experience, any time the battery is completely dead leave the jump pac on . When you start it and take the jump pac off rite away it causes the voltage from the alternator to spike and can cause damage to the ECM BCM TCM ... I have seen many computers that went up in smoke at the auction because of people starting them and taking the jump box off immediately. Very bad hope this helps

You can also pour out some of the battery acid and mix some Epsom salt with some distilled water and refilled the battery reservoir and the. Put it on the trickle charger! I did this to mine a year ago and it still starts the car on the first start! Try it!

For the speedo, scan for codes and if there is nothing related to the speedo, try tapping the glass or pushing the needle while the vehicle is moving. as far as i know, the E39 uses only one sensor for mileage and speedo, so if the sensor is intact, it should be the cluster or the needle itself. maybe worth trying.

This brought back memories of winter 1993 when I took an overheating RX-7 (later learned was Apex seals) from Ohio to FL. Didn’t start overheating until halfway down GA. I was 20 years old and still didn’t let it run this long in the red. But I am always completely entertained and hate BMW, so 10/10 would watch again.

I hope you didn't have any serious problems from your last live feed. My last car was a 2005 VW Passat that had overheating problems. The way I was able to limp it to the repair shop was to get it up to speed, shift it into neutral, shut the engine off, and coast until I needed more speed. It wasn't fun, but it got me to where I needed to be without getting too hot. It was because of that car, that I got AAA. The way that thing kept boiling over, I would have just called AAA for a tow. Given the state of the Nation right now, and especially with your inability to get inside Copart's lots to film, I say go all the way with this car. At the very least it will give you some good quality content for your channel.

Randy prefers driving a cheap purchase home to see if it makes it if it ends up being junk he makes the money back via videos (BESIDES IT IS HIS $$ LET HIM SPEND IT AS HE DECIDES)

All the yellow lights, speedometer and fuel consumption meter " miles/gal" are malfunctioned due to a black electronic box mounted on the ABS pump is bad, other wise change the battery first. The heating issue radiator and the fan clutch not working there is no sound at all.

i have just owned a E39 528i and fixed it up. If the speedometer dosent work and the ABS/ESP light is on, its usually the left rear wheel speed sensor that is faulty. And yes the cupholders are well known for being too fragile

@WarpDriveM4 жыл бұрын
On your Bmw E39 speedometer doesn't work because of the abs light. It might be just because of the battery, speed sensor (abs sensor rear left wheel), or Abs pump (in the engine bay) which is a known problem on this cars. Start with a good battery, clear the codes and recheck after that. nice car!

Hey Randy - long time watcher from the UK. Big fan of you and your vids, speedo is likely the speed sensor which will also throw the dsc/triangle light you have. E46 does similar. I'm a compulsive fixer, I like to see nice cars back to their best so I say fix it all! However I also always loose money on cars so perhaps don't listen to me. You and your family stay well. Cheers Ross

Old European cars if properly maintained, are amazing and reliable. However if they're not taken care of they are NIGHTMARES. since they can be bought so cheap, a lot of people buy them who can't afford to maintain them which leads to these cars falling into disrepair
