Check the left rear ABS sensor, that will disable your speedometer and throw the ABS light

Jerry Berryhill I agree. And sometimes those abs sensors will affect the transmission shifting too. I had a white 528i that wouldn’t shift in drive but if you shift it manually it would shift. Changed the abs sensor and problem solved.

Also make sure you buy the correct speed sensor; this box underwent some changes so some cars will use the blue sensor whereas others will use the gray(ish) sensor and they are not interchangeable. I found out the hard way.

Ok the Yellow light is asc stability control your issue is a rear wheel speed sensor either left or right one of the two controls the speedometer this is why it doesn't work

The " 3" light combo= 1.Brake 2.Traction Control 3.Abs Usally means the Abs module needs rebuild. BMW's always seem to have some light on for this or that. I put tape over them and keep on driven. 250K and going strong.

The little arrow in the center of the cluster means traction control off. Just press the DSC button or something like that above the cup holders and it should turn off

When I worked on my 2003 525i, I found it much easier then expected. Love how everything is a star drive. Mine was silver with nice deep dish chrome wheels and looked amazing and got way more complements then I thought I would. Maybe think about de badging it, not the BMW but the 528i emblem. Just use dental floss to remove and a bit of polish and cleans the back end up nicely for 5 minutes of work.

I have a 2000 BMW 528 I believe it or not I’ve had the exact same problems with the cooling system and engine problems the little light in the middle between the speedometer and rpm is for most likely speed sensors something to do with your traction control that’s why your speedometer isn’t reading any miles per hour because your speed sensors are gone and as far as the transmission is completely fine when you start in drive it does not want to go into first gear because you have a little button on the floor behind the gas pedal that you have to press in order for the car to downshift into first gear when you takeoff so you need to floor it in order for it to go fast or else as much gas as you may give it 80-90% it will not go fast if anything it will upshift and act like it’s lost on power. Love your videos man keep it up content is amazing!!

Fyi the temp sensor behind the front bumper needs replacing. Its shorted. That's why the temp says -40. That does prevent the ac from working. Change that cheap sensor and maybe the ac actually works.

Anthracite Gray Metallic. Late model BMWS used it. Awesome color. It's available in other paint like PPG. Has great sparkle and deep silver tones. I painted my C-4 Corvette with it and people always wanted to know the color. Good on the coverage too. Do the jambs, costs more but really needed.

Check the left rear wheel speed sensor. That will fix the odometer and the traction control/abs light on the dash.

If it were my car, I would just refresh the black similar to your Marauder, find the 2 centre caps for the passenger side rims and clean the interior. Randy: looks like this BMW reconditioning is going to provide great content. Wheels: leave them on. The younger BMW buyer will know exactly what they and will want them! Repaint: when you do a colour change . It is next to impossible to spray the door / hood / trunk jams for a cheap amount of money. Leave the paint alone. Fix mechanicals/windshield. Give the car a high end professional detail. Inside and out, even the paint. I know it sound crazy, but the driving experience will sell the car! A younger buyer will want to hop in and drive it ASAP. Let the new buyer deal with the paint! Cheers

Randy, this would be a good opportunity for your local Maaco to show how well they can do individual panels. The triangle is the stability control thing and it always lights up with the abs light. It could be a abs sensor or your abs module.

Also, the Airbag modules get internal ECU faults, just ignore the light, it’ll never go away unless you want to spend $500 on an uncoded module

I had a 96 Suzuki Vitara with a similar transmission problem. If i shifted from 1st, it ran great. If I let the car shift, usually it would stay in 2nd. Changed the computer in the transmission, and the thing ran great. Try that.

First try with changing rear right abs sensor if that doesent help. Its modul, im having same problem 2nd time, and both time same things and it was module

With that little arrow thing try running the steering wheel from lock to lock a couple times sometimes that resets the system.

When you put gear to 1 or 2, you see "S" in the middle of the dashboard. It means, it's in Sports mode. It should still change gears by itself. It just allows you to rev up higher before switching gears. That gear doesn't look familiar to me, but there should be "M" mode, that's the stick mode. Funny thing is, however, when you are in "S", or "M", mode, when you slow down, the gear shift down automatically. When you come to a stop, gear will stop at 2, not 1. You can shift down to 1 before hit the gas for faster acceleration. Probably that's why, when you are in "D" mode, it feels like you are not going anywhere.

The yellow arrow has to do with ASC system. Could be a bad abs sensor or even just the asc throttle valve that closes the airflow to the engine when the cars asc system detects a wheel slip. Both the throttle valve and the asc throttle valve are located behind the air flow meter

Airbag/ABS/Airbag was the ABS module on my 530i, I guess its a common issue. I sent it off to a Module Repair place, fixed it for about $100. No speedo = no speed input for transmission.

Not sure in the US but the fuel engines came with auto transmissions made by ZF in Germany which are generally bullet proof. The Diesels came with auto transmissions made by GM that was unreliable. There should be a ASC button on centre console that turns that arrow light off, hence there's no issue with transmission

DIP showing -40 deg. Ambient air temp. sensor will create driveability issues. That can also cause O2 codes with a rich or lean reading. Telling the computer that the fuel regulation is outside of the rich/lean parameters.

Silver. Specifically 1976 Cadillac Georgian Silver Metallic. I painted my 71 Chevelle that color in 1980. A friends body shop. Sanded down. Vinyl top came off. All the 20 some odd little holes for the trim welded up. 2 coats primer. 3 coats silver. 3 coats of clear coat. $800 in 1980s money.

Fix the little things on the car, just paint the parts (partly) what are too bad or paint it San Marino blue/Estorilblue, give it a good polish treatment and trade those AC Schnitzers for M parallel wheels or style 33 or the BBS wheels where you've got one of them in the trunk. :)

Rubber intake boots are notorious for cracks and creating vacuum leaks as are the smaller vacuum hoses, before throwing o2 sensors at the motor, do a smoke test and check for vacuum leaks. I would bet a small sum of money that you have a vacuum leak that is causing your o2 sensor codes.
