I enjoy the Rebuilds part of Auto Auction Rebuilds. The yard walks are interesting, but I missed seeing basket cases coming back together. The Swamp Vette saga was one of my favorite series. I think a mix of Find It, Fix It, Flip It works well.

Had a completely different vehicle with that surging problem; it would idle fine, accelerate fine, but it would buck & surge at any constant speed over about 20 mph. No leaks in the exhaust (1st thing I checked), fuel pressure was spot-on, no vacuum issues. Turned out to be a badly worn distributor.

Randy do a "base idle reset" on the car, that usually will solve alot of problems. I would fix the exhaust leak also. And get a good fenderwell cold air intake or an Anderson power pipe and get rid of the plumbing pipe, lol. You're doing good so far, I would've put everything back as well

Best thing I found for changing oil on my lift is to take a Rubbermaid garbage can lid and cut a hole in it and send it on top of my oil catcher increases the diameter by 100% and allows for less messes just thought I'd pass the tip along

I subbed when you started posting this car. Check your speedo, with gears in the rear and different gears for the cluster there's a good chance it's not accurate. Also if you want it stock and to make money off parts sell that spoiler. Those are highly desirable and could bring half of what you paid for the car. That plastic pipe intake needs to go too.

100% you did the right thing! That wiring job was nothing short of a complete shit show! It had to go! Now it looks like you have the cooling system working like it should. Great job on both! If it were me, I'd get another battery hold down clamp. That chain that's on there might work, but its not the best looking setup. Do what you want though. You might want to order some header gaskets, while you're at it. The driver's side doesn't look that bad, but the passenger side looks like it would be no fun to change. Those damn headers can be a pain, more often than not. Love that car! It is going to be so much fun to cruise! As always, great video! Looking forward to the next one!

No need for any kind of aftermarket chip on the old Mustangs. Just remove the spade connector and bump the timing up according to what octane gas you want to run. I ran 14* back in the day when using 93 octane. The EEC-IV OBD 1 system in you car has the ability to learn and adapt without worrying about emissions unlike the later systems. I assume the only reason to go the aftermarket ignition system was to eliminate all the quirks and issues associated with the factory TFI.

I get going stock. Less problems when stock. I still think you should of just cleaned up the shitty wiring job for the electric fans, etc. Removing that MSD computer was spot on. No need for an aftermarket controller and the stock computer and all the associated conflicts that occur. Nice that the stock clutch fan w/ shroud fixed the cooling issue. Save those electric fans and radiator, someone will want them or you can use for another car that already has electric fans stock.

Randy, here's a thought - judging by your temp reading (and I admit, I never saw it much higher that just off bottom), check the thermostat! I worked on tons of these back in the day, and all the guys who played games with the ECU automatically either dumped the thermostat, or put a 160 in. Ford's EEC strategy doesn't recognize 160 degrees as warmed up! All those cars would float into my shop, and the guy would say it doesn't run right, and we'd always find a 160 or no stat in them. By the way, pro tip on changing the thermostat in a Windsor V8......put a rubber band through the hoop of the thermostat, and feed both ends up through the water neck. Hold both ends with your middle finger, and hold the water neck with the rest of your hand, and this way you can hold the stat to the water neck with one hand while you position and run the bolts in with the other. Once bolted up, release ONE loop of the rubber band and then pull it out completely by the other hoop. Makes it super easy!

I had an 89 5 liter LX. I was getting surges randomly and it would stop after I restarted the car. It was intermittent. The issue turned to be a kink in one of the small hoses connecting the block to the heater core. Replacing that solved the issue.

Since you put that chip in you might have to reset the ecm by unplugging the battery to reset evrything so it can relearn the new perimeters of the chip, and also like you mentioned the Idle control? i think you turn the key on(don't run) walk up an unplug the sensor turn key off and plug it back in then restart and let it run in place for 10 min then take it out for a run, after 150 mi the ecm should be fully tuned in it's perimeters.
