BIG YES on the Mercury Sable. It looks to have been maintained well and taken care of since day one. Plus it's a donated car, so you know it's for a good cause! Hope you get it cheap enough!!!

I bought a super low mileage loaded out Sable for my mother. I loved it, I ended up putting most of the miles on it, and it was trouble free. The Sable was passed around to family members, college students, and now lives down the street, and is a kid's first car.

A 3 door Evoque is really rare. Most people ordered the 4 door one. I live in Germany where we see quite a lot of these but I’ve only ever seen 3 of these.

To hell with anyone who thinks the Sable is junk.... I had a 2001 LS Premium wagon and it was an awesome car! The Duratec pulled all the way to the redline and kept going. It was a great car and was sad to see it go but we outgrew her. That was the car I owned the longest(7.5 years) and I was always one to buy a car and keep it less than a year. Mine had just over 220k miles, original trans and engine with no signs of issues, just got rusty in the dog legs. Love them! That clean of a Sable here in NJ is a $2k-2500 car every day of the week. There's profit in the car, bid on it Randy then put your foot to the floor......

If you carry one of those air bladders they slide in between the door to open it up to unlock it, those cars with stubborn hoods you can slide it under the hood give it a few pumps and hit the release

I love the last of the old-school Taurus and Sables (prior to the Ford 500 years). They're pretty basic but that means not a lot to go wrong and they seem to last for a long time. They depreciated like crazy, too so you can pick them up super cheap. I'd drive that Sable in a heartbeat. It's a really nice car and I bet it'll go for a little of nothing.
@clintferguson83282 жыл бұрын
I had the same engine in a Ford Taurus went well over 180,000 miles with no issues but I took good care of it and did all the service on even had a Ford mechanic friend tell me they if taken care of will run for ever.

Of the 3, the Sable would be my choice. Nissan, not on your life, the Ford Range Rover, while nice, very expensive to fix. Sable is a decent riding car, fairly cheap and easy to fix and maintain and, as long as the transmission holds, is a dependable vehicle. Wish I would have kept mine. Hope you're doing well Randy. How's the shoulder doing?

My daily driver is a 2000 Taurus Wagon with the DOHC and everything works and clean as can be. I had a Range Rover with my first wife and it was beautiful and everyone would say how nice it was. At 40k it was ready for the holidays because the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Fix one thing, another thing would take its place. The 4.6 HSE engine was a Buick design they purchased a long time ago and added British reliability to the line. Are you bidding on one of these for yourself or to resell. The Sable is not an exciting car but it didn't have a thousand issues to fix first, and could be an easy sale if bought right. (But you already know that and so much more.) FYI-It used to be Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar, 25% of Mazda (that is all Japan would allow a foreigner to own.)

The Sable may be a very good choice. Looking it the sticker at the bottom on the driver side, it looks like it was a PA car at one point. PA is really strict on their vehicle inspections. That Nissan with the zip tie, well that's just fac-tree. Hope you have a safe, happy and prosperous new year.

The whining on the Pathfinder is most likely caused by the timing chain tensioners,my 2015 Xterra with the same 4.0 developed the whine around 100k. Had them replaced along with the pulleys and shes been going strong since.It's a very common issue with the Nissan 4.0 from what I hear
