As for exhaust, I've got just a pair of Flowmaster super 40's on and it really wakes up the sound of the car. Plenty enough for the driver and anyone nearby to notice but not overbearing with drone. Quiets right down when you're just cruising.

I got 2 Vickys' an 04' LX Sport and a 2011 P71 NM State Police which is my daily driver. On the exhaust, Like to see just the rear resonators cut off first to see how that sounds:)

Your best bet may be. cut off the Mufflers after the H pipe and remove the Mufflers as well as all the exhaust pipe behind em. you may have to cut twice due to the rear end. That muffler delete won't have too bad a drone and actually is mellow at idle but when you need to hear it it's available at throttle. good compromise between stock and deleting the cats it's a happy medium. Some decent weight reduction if that matters .

I just want that car you have back here in Bristol UK. Great vid as usual Randy! It reminded me of when I bought a 5yr old 'disposed of' ex-cop Vauxhall Omega (£500) in similar fashion 20 years ago here in the UK. Mine was a little battered and bare also...but wow did that thing shift. The engine had been 'Blueprinted', was tuned to perfection and didn't miss a beat! I remember trying it out for performance on a quiet SPECIAL early Sunday morning trip out to a cop-safe 7 mile section of the M5 Motorway nearby me. When I got to the section...I checked around and hit the floor with my boot. I could not believe it when I looked at the clock after what seemed a few seconds! I was doing just over 145mph and still climbing in no time at all! Needless to say, I had some great times in that car. After I let it go.....and by then believing the Vauxhall Omega was the best thing since sliced bread. I later foolishly bought two of them one after the other...believing the first one was just a duffer. How wrong was I???? The Vauxhall Omega produced for the public domain was the biggest, most unreliable, thirstiest and gutless piece of ** you could ever wish to buy!!! I want that one you have there Randy!!!

I once bought an ex cop car from Bountiful Utah. In Utah the police departments are required to get their cars safety inspected and registered just like any other car. The car was a 1990 Caprice. That car sold me on ex cop cars. It cornered like it was on rails. I loved it. I ended up selling it in Nevada to a retired Utah Highway Patrolman. He loved the car for his daily driver.

@solidzane5 жыл бұрын
It'd make it easier to show him actually working on the cars. Part of the problem is that he uses a GoPro, which is super light-weight... And even photographers don't particularly like lugging around a heavy tripod. So most likely he'd be putting a super light camera on a super light tripod and then the wind knocks it over... 🤷🏻♂️... There are, of course, ways to weight it down. Just more to carry to and fro...

Steering wheel locking is a common problem my 06 did it. It's the solenoid inside the steering wheel. It tends to take longer in the winter due to it taking the solenoid to build up enough heat to engage the releasing mechanism.
@brian5o5 жыл бұрын
I'm loving this one, Randy! For the decals, I'd say, if you're planning on keeping the car, have your logo printed in vinyl and have it say Auto Auction Rebuilds Troll Patrol for the doors and have a decal made of your KZbin address made for the rear window or trunklid. I think you're gap issue for the hood might actually be do to the top of the fender and not the hood itself, especially if the side that you didn't take apart is good. I'd say loosen the top fender bolts a bit and use a prying tool to open up the gaps. I love the wheels on this car but I noticed that the one on your passenger side rear had a pretty big bend in it. That other parts car appeared to have some very nice wheels. You might want to consider picking those up, too. By the way, definitely update the exhaust. I don't know about straight pipes but maybe remove one set of the cats and throw some Flowmasters or Magnaflows on it.

I’ve had about five of these things and they are a lot of fun and truly tough cars. I at first thought I’d like to hear the straight pipe, but really just getting rid of the resonators and putting a good muffler might be the better option as others have said. Making it too loud would take away from it. Making me want another!
