That plug is for remote lights for the light that goes on the vehicle your towing.

That Versa is definitely a CVT. Also something to look out for, Nissan had a recall on certain models of the Versa, Sentra, and Juke for transmission issues that caused jerking and slipping while driving. That one probably already had the issue fixed, but just a warning. Otherwise it would make a great car! Maybe try to find a Versa Note SL to give her something slightly nicer with Navigation and woodgrain and such, but other than that, its a great idea!

Also can't forget that those have Jatko transmissions, some of the worst transmissions ever built come from them. They break all the time usually from 120-160k miles. That's the only reason I would steer clear of any Nissans with them.

The TowMate transmitter is for the towing lights you place on the car you are towing. There will be a trailer receptacle on the deck/rear skirt of the wrecker body. The receptacle is by the left hand safety chain hook, just seen it.

As a tow truck operator for the last 6 years I love the latest tow trucks and stuff you’ve had on the channel! And the tow mate is a wireless receiver that goes into the truck end and a wireless magnetic bar that goes into the car in tow..I wonder why that truck was there?! I’d kill for that lol

It's a wrecker, a tow truck is a pick up truck with 20' of chain! Towmate is a blue tooth tow light system, you plug the part in your hand into you pig tail socket, place the lights on the back of the vehicle you're towing ( no cords). This channel offers both insight into newer no damage visible cars etc and also ones that require work to be done. As a wholesale dealer Randy has the choice and opportunity to view / record both as some like to see both sides of the same coin I personally don't have issues with Randy showing visibly undamaged cars on the channel. Those versas came with a 5 speed manual, 4 speed automatic, or a cvt. if it has the cvt run away and don’t look back. I also heard something about those focuses having bad transmission problems as well

2016 Nissan versa is absolutely a Jacko CVT. Are usually good for about 80,000 miles. You could tell when you took it to the test track the way it rubber band revved out and then did the whole fake shifting thing. 100% CVT

I had a 2015 Versa Note for a number of years. They don't make them any more. I believe 2019 was the last year. Yes, the transmission is CVT but with a traditional fixed ratio first gear. I appreciated this detail because I find the noticeable shifting of gears comforting versus a continuously variable ratio. It's unsettling not to know what gear you are in. Mileage is incredible on these little 1.6L engines. Like 40 highway or more. I found the SL trim to be much more comfortable than the SV because of improvements in the seats. SL also comes with a Tech package. I sold mine to someone who needed their first car! It's a solid option for sure. Subaru or Honda or Toyota might do better in the crash safety department, but this is a solid option. I really enjoy your work. I'm happy for you to visit whichever lot serves you best!

Hi Randy, find your daughter a Toyota Carola or a Honda Civic and if you want something a little bigger then go with the Camry or the Accord. These cars are incredibly reliable and safe, if I had a daughter that's what I would be looking for. You can't hardly go wrong with those 2 brands, trust me you will get major dad points if you get her a little Carola or Civic. Years ago I sold my 1985 Honda Accord and have regretted it several times over the years. I currently drive a Toyota Carola and it has been super reliable and fantastic on gas, it's a 2018 model and was a rental car before I bought it, but I bought it from a reputable dealer and it was still under factory warranty. I love this car, fun and cheap to drive and maintain, you can't go wrong. I was also thinking if you ever get the title straighten out on the Kia, then that could be a good car for you daughter. Whatever you do please don't give her that Mitsubishi Electric, in fact sell that as quick as you can. I love all of your walk arounds but I do enjoy the Copart and IAA walkarounds. Keep on keeping on. 😀✌❤

The motor on the Versa would be fine, but the CVTs are notorious for failure. The shifting is normal, as my ex's Civic CVT and my Crosstrek CVT all shift fairly similar.

Yeah on the Nissan versa note... that is a CVT Transmission. Brought one for my daughter but was 2015. First car& yet curb hoping blowing tires dents,scratches. Freshman in college. There you have it.

I like the newer vehicle walk arounds. But do miss the older copart cars too. That's what this channel was built on. Maybe go with one old car at a time to rebuild to mix in with these newer ones.

as a 2013 Versa owner almost all automatic versas have a cvt, which are like ticking time bombs. the first shift is always sluggish as it kicks into a "overdrive" type gear. you should look for a manual versa if your daughter is interested in learning how to drive said transmission. it would be perfect in terms of power for beginners. But as far as that Versa goes, everything seems to be perfect. Def consider getting it for her!

The versa is definitely a cvt transmission, it is driving normal, they added a simulated shift to it. It's a good car as long as the maintenance on the transmission has been and will be done

When I got my truck, I was 18 I got a 2020 Ford ranger. It’s been a great truck and safe. My parents help me get it I pay half and they pay half that truck been really safe. You want something safe? And and she will feel comfortable driving the car if that makes sense like take her to the yard to go to go to look around let it test drive some of them you just want to make her feel safe drive in the car.

One thing that would make these dealer auction vids better is a recap of the bid price of the cars you look at. The red Ford, powershift transmissions are terrible in those. The Nissan versa, CVT and it looks to be slipping. You CAN bring a code reader to the dealer auctions. I bring one with me to all of them. ATB

My grandma had a 2014 Versa Note. But hers didn't have the simulated shifting. That 2016 has the simulation. And hers also had that same whine sound. Drove the car 90k miles trouble free before it got rear ended. But yeah they are good little cars.

I think the transmission on the Versa may be designed to simulate a shift at that RPM level, which is why the RPMs drop at around that level in acceleration. Its still a CVT. We've never owned a Versa but we own a 2014 Nissan Murano with a CVT transmission. That one, however, doesn't simulate shifts during acceleration.

We have a Nissan Sentra & Rogue. Both these have the CVT & the characteristic is the same. RPM slowly comes down to next gear so the one you test-drived is normal shifting. Only downside is the cost of getting it serviced. Cost me over $300 for special CVT fluid & filter change.

Get her a small SUV for her first car! We got my sister one as she kept tearing our moms bumper off the car pulling too far over curbs. Now she can drive over pretty much about anything she wants lol. It’s a 2013 Acura MDX for reference.

Good car for your daughter, 6 air bags and reasonably good safety ratings. With those miles I’d want to be in it for about $3,500, assuming a clean car fax. Being a CVT, I’d walk on it unless you can put a scanner on it. Rebuilding it would be $4K and you do want to be in it for $7500!

A friend of mine has that a Versa. Definitely a CVT. He has 145,000 miles on his. Here's the catch. We're old men and he hasn't driven that over 65 mph. My wife has a 10 year old Juke. Funny looking car but she loves it. CVT also. She also drives like a snail. Not one problem with the car. I guess CVT means drive slow and it'll last.

Hi my friend, I really like your videos. The changes in CVT gearboxes whatever the brand, regularly are slower, it is important to change the oil and filter inside the transmission every time the vehicle passes 50k miles. If the oil is not changed when the transmission heats up it will not release the shifts.

The Versa has a CVT. Newer Nissan CVT's have a function where they simulate shifts. Probably due to a lot of complaints about it being rubber band like and staying at max RPM's under hard acceleration
