Only ever tried the gel and was very impressed with its performance. Autobrite provided a heavy duty trigger with my one litre bottle which delivers the product as a mist. I found I had to chase the product around the wheel. By that I mean spray, agitate with brushes to ensure even coverage, leave to dwell and then perhaps a bit more agitation before rinsing. Sounds laborious but when is wheel cleaning anything else? The increased dwell time allowed me to work on multiple wheels and I'm not the fastset worker. Bottom line is I enjoyed that product and wish I stuck with. Very helpful to see you try both products together too.
@SparkleanAutos9 ай бұрын
I think you've hit the nail on the head here Adrian - wheel cleaning can be laborious no matter what you use! The sample bottle definitely wasn't the best example for how to apply the gel but even from that bottle, I was still able to get enough on the wheel to do the job - the working time of the product, like you said, was fantastic 🙂👍🏼

At the start of lock-down when I was on Furlough I had far too much time on my hands I started watching KZbin detailing videos and found out about various manufacturers of chemicals I had not heard about previously as I am lucky that I had at least four well known brands within a 50 mile radius of my home in Central Scotland to choose from and I used to pick up my chemicals personally. I started to experiment with AutoBrite, Auto Finesse & Garage Therapy. I always thought that AutoBrite was a pile em high sell them cheap brand but I was so wrong. The chemicals that I have tried and that is many have all been really good and although I am in the main a one brand guy now i.e Mitchell & King as they are brilliant and 5 minutes from my house I still swear by a few of their chemicals and have recently tried a few more i.e. wheel soap & purple rain but the standouts for me are the tar remover & glass cleaner but their wheel cleaners impressed me in your film. I look forward to the next installment.

That's very interesting you should say that John! I'm also always keen on supporting people local to me, which is one of the reasons brands like Anachem Automotive (now A-KEM!) and Harpure have featured on my channel a few times - that plus the fact they're just good products!! I had similar reservations about Autobrite Direct - I'd always seen them in my local motor factors and it seemed a bit gimmicky, what with all the different coloured/scented Snowfoams and themed shampoos. But the more I use their 'base' products, the more I've started to realise that they are actually very good chemicals... Easy to use, good results and an easy to understand system, they're a very easy brand to reach for on the shelves and are quickly becoming one of my favoured brands!! I didn't see that coming 6 months ago when I hadn't used any of their products before!!! Thank you John for taking the time to watch my videos and leave comments like this, I love the interactions with people 🙂👍🏼

Another great video Mark, nice comparison between the two and I don't think anyone would be disappointed with either as the results spoke for themselves, I bought 5l of britegel in the AB sale last year and still got more than half left, I also got a 500ml bottle of it too so that I can decant the 5l into it👍🏻 very little is needed and a couple of squirts into the wheel brush help keep the brush lubricated. I have paired it with GT wheel shampoo and it's a fantastic experience very little effort needed. Really enjoying these new videos and I look forward to Tuesdays with renewed excitement. Keep up the good work sir 👍🏻

Another excellent Tuesday video video Mark. I do love sample size bottles but those wee spray heads can be brutal, I've found that even some proper triggers cant deal with gel like formula so those wee ones will always be struggling, anyway I know that's not the point of the video haha. Both cleaners looked to do an excellent job on some very dirty wheels so I can see why the products are back on the shelve.

Cheers Dave .. yeah I did struggle to get decent coverage with the gel one but as you say, I wasn't reviewing that part of it! The Autobrite Direct trigger on the 500ml Britegel bottle certainly looks the part on their website so maybe they've managed to work around that problem 🤔 because if you could get decent coverage with the gel then the advantages would be great. Anyway, thanks again mate 🤜🏼

Haha I'll get the kettle on that day Sean 👍🏼 As for referring to different viscosities - I was recording the commentary at 1am and saying viscosity would have come out as viscoripitydippidydoodloscopy so I stuck with liquid and gel... Nice video, I’ll be honest every wheel cleaner I’ve tried has been fine with agitation, maybe not the Poundland one but anything from even a budget detailing brand works fine, I been looking for a near touch less one but haven’t had much success, Mitchell and king have one which they said was touch less but I didn’t think much of it, if you ever get round to it then I would love if you could try out HLS automotive products
@SparkleanAutos2 жыл бұрын
To be honest Imran, the wheels are typically the dirtiest, most contaminated part of the car... In direct contact with the brakes AND the road so you'll be doing well to find anything strong enough to completely clean them contactlessly without adversely affecting some of the components in the wheel arch (electrical sensors, flexible rubber brake lines etc.). If you, or someone you know, wants to send me some HLS automotive products to try, be my guest but I have more than enough products here for a couple of years worth of content without buying anything else! 🤣👍🏼
@M.E632 жыл бұрын
@@SparkleanAutos Yh I understand there’s no such thing as contactless anything when it comes to cleaning a car, but I’ve been looking for something for the wheels that’s near enough contactless, only reason I wanted that was as my wheels are black chrome using a brush gives it a lot of swirls, same technique on other wheels won’t swirl them up as much. Every non acidic wheel cleaner I’ve tried seem to perform the same, nothing stands out. I will sort out my products and I’ll see what I can send you
@SparkleanAutos2 жыл бұрын
Anachem Automotive Cleanse is very good, I use it as a 'pre-wash' on my wheels to remove most of the dirt pre-contact
@SparkleanAutos2 жыл бұрын
Black wheels are a nightmare though, you do need a soft microfibre or wool media to clean them rather than orushes
@M.E632 жыл бұрын
@@SparkleanAutos Yh after I polished them and ceramic coated them I don’t use brushes, just microfibre mitt and microfibre wheel whoolie, I do a pre wash first, mine are painted and it’s a black chrome which are a nightmare compared to my other car which has normal silver wheels, someone recommended valet pro bilberry wheel cleaner and said they work great as touchless but not convinced

Nice twin test there from Autobrite Direct , I started getting serious with detailing with a few products from them, funnily enough it was a wheel cleaner called Very Cherry, not the acidic one , wasn’t brave enough for that 😂, I absolutely loved that at 10-1 Gel wheel cleaners are a right pain in the butt to dispense even with a good trigger, they never seem to spray evenly so well done for getting it out of a sample spray 👌 Results were good there, can’t ask for more and you didn’t use a lot at all, I’m done with RTU stuff tho, dare I say Surfex and leave it there 😂😂

Would definitely agree with you Graeme... I haven't been a big fan of any gel-like products I've used but like I said, I haven't used Autobrite's trigger yet so it would be unfair of me to assume it's just the same... It was hard work with the sample bottle but they're not really designed for that 🤣 The other one was excellent and I think the bottle said it can be diluted 20:1 for light/maintenance cleaning so good value too 👍🏼

Oh I know what you mean, sometimes even an acidic brake cleaner is required - but these are maintenance products and this test series is about a normal person at home using maintenance products to maintain their cars. On that test criteria, they both met and exceeded expectations. What a professional looks for and what the normal hobbyist/proud car owner at home look for are 2 different things. This series is aimed at the people at home who don't want to be bored with chemical jargon, they just want to know if they pick a product up off the shelf and use it as directed, will it give them the results they expect. 👍🏼

Cheers Martin.. I was trying to hold off too much judgement on it as I'm not a huge fan of gel products .. and I always try to be impartial, especially without using it through a proper trigger, but it definitely wasn't as easy to use as the traditional style. Still did a good job cleaning though 👍🏼
