1974 BMW 2002 Clarion Builds Project Car w/ Chris Forsberg

The idea is to take a classic collector car and restore it in a period correct manner, taking every component and upgrading it with the highest quality parts money can buy. Instead of creating a monster purpose built show car, Clarion USA has decided to create something a little more practical, something that can be thoroughly enjoyed every day. Like a 1974 BMW 2002.
Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg was brought on board as the official Clarion Builds test driver, and after spending a day with the press at Adams Motorsport Park in Riverside, CA; the champ is happy to report that the 1974 BMW 2002 is looking good after its initial shake down.

Thak You Autobytel for this Upload. I truly want to build a 2002 now & you have influenced me greatly. Where can i get more info on how to build a car like that. I have no prior experience with restoring cars, but Im willing to pour out time and energy to build a car like that. I want to have that experience & share it with others, where can i learn myself.

Paintwork is not great. If you look at the pictures on there website it has some major orange peal going on.

I see your point but why blame BMW? You can start by blaming all those dead morons that couldn't be bothered to take one second out of their busy lives to fasten their seatbelts then became instant roadkill when their head and chest merged with steering column. Then the nanny governments told the auto industry they had to protect the idiots from themselves. First came one airbag, then two, the next thing you know you have eighteen freaking airbags because the fools couldn't bother to buckle up. Secondly, BMW is a business like everyone else. Either they sell cars or close their doors. As much as BMW would probably love to build 1974 2002s ad infinitum, today's car buyer wouldn't give this car a second look. Not that BMW could even legally produce and sell a car like this in the 21st century, with safety and emissions regs what they are. Todays yuppie doesn't want this. They want their $40k Robomatic Egg with power everything, leather, sunroof, iphone and android support, bluetooth, nav, you name it. The cool part to this sad story is that you don't have to follow the herd. You can buy what you want and build it up as little or as much as you want. Provided you have the ca$h. Buy what you want, then build it into what's right for you. Who knows? If people stop buying Robomatic Eggs, BMW might realize what they're missing. It's still a very competitve car market. If BMW won't build what these yuppies want, they will go across the street to Audi and Mercedes.
