Love the Roma and the direction they went in with the styling. Most modern cars seem too complicated and over-styled, but the Roma is so simplistic and elegant, reminds me of 90s Ferraris like the 456 and 550 Maranello.

I fully agree, and Ferrari were one of the worst with the messy over-styled designs so it's nice to see them calm down and make something beautiful. As an owner of a 575, which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful modern Ferrari's, the Roma is a modern interpretation of the great GTs in the back catalogue. I'm just not a fan of the interior. I've sat in one and I don't enjoy the centre section which divides the car. And I'm still undecided on the front grill. But no doubt it's a great driver's car.

As a pure GT, I'd say the Bentley is the best here : one of the best interiors on the market (for me), very luxurious, high quality materials and finishes, very practical since you can have 3 passengers comfortably sat and still have room for luggages. And still, the V8 or the W12 allows the Bentley to be a really sporty and fun car to drive. However, I am obsessed with the Roma. Ferrari did a really good job on this one. I think it perfectly embodies Ferrari's DNA : pure italian elegance, great looking and very sporty car. The sound of the V8 is pure music to the ear and the interior looks as elegant as the exterior. It would be really hard for me to choose between the two since they are both among my favorite cars ever.

@@kalmansandor5930 Edit:he deleted his comments. Because in many cases, what used to take 1 button press or turn of a knob now needs to be navigated to through various menus and tabs. That in of itself can be dangerous especially if you need to divert your attention to see if your inputs were correct. The Germans are starting to realize this and have started adding buttons back in or at the very least shortcuts via presets programmed to a physical button/switch. Examples being physical controls being added back on for Audi e-tron GT or the M1/2 and RS1/RS2 on high-end BMWs and Audis. Screens aren't bad but moderation is key in both design and life. How badly do you think those 2/3rd dashes in MBs will age? A screen has a dead pixel or burn-in? You gotta live with that for the next couple of years now or replace the entire unit. It's why smartwatches will never replace a precision made automatic. The value doesn't come from the function necessarily. It comes from how much thought and care was put into crafting said thing that gives it character. For true Grand Touring, the Bentley is the only real choice as it was designed to be a GT from the ground up. The A/M and Ferrari lean more towards sports cars due to their better handling dynamics and, of course, engine note (and lack of a usable back seat). If you want a 'cross-over' GT/sports car, one designed to do double duty, then the A/M and Ferrari do the job. By the time you get down the Roma, the back seat is more of a 'suggestion' more suitable for luggage and whatever the owner just bought at Gucci and Neiman-Marcus. The Portofino might have been a better choice for touring comparisons.

Agreed, James. Even IF the back seats are 'child size', it's STILL a convenience to toss in an overnight bag, briefcase, laptop backpack, etc. without needing to get into and out of the trunk.

Main question is, what would the resale value be like? I think both the Bentley and Aston would sink like a stone. Albeit both would be much more liveable with then the Fezza.

I test drove all three and purchased a Bentley Mulliner GTC V8. Just got better and better. easily the best interior with so many features. Bends didn't exist with the 4 wheel drive computer assist etc. Grand touring exemplified. Aston was like a ford inside but looked good, harder to drive but fun! Ferrari, wife didn't like the driving position and it sort of felt small inside for a 'grand tourer' more like a sports saloon, but very precise. (How many will I upset lol - my opinion only) All great cars!

Aston interior looks pretty poor, especially when you consider how awesome TVR interiors were over 20 years ago, from a small company! (That said, I’d still chose the Aston)

Let’s not be silly here folks. The Roma is gorgeous but got design ques from the AM, Although I’m a fan of the old gen Astons, the newer ones look good too but the interior lacks. But the Bentley is and will always be the most complete package here. And the road presence that these things has is unmatched. It’s a tank! It’s LEAGUES above those two, GT cars are about luxury and comfort as well not just sporty. And if you want to go over 200 mph Bentley has that too 🤷. Sorry folks not much competition here. Bentley is the top GT here easily.

That Infotainment screen in Ferrari looks like it's from a decade ago. Why not go for something like what Mercedes has done with their new s-class?.... Or the best is to remove the screen and keep the design lines neat... That will look timeless 👌🏻
@NamelessGlasses3 жыл бұрын
Cause the Roma was designed to be their entry level car with mass appeal and to cater to said appeal, it needed to integrate what would be considered industry-standard tech. Pretty sure the exterior designer had no say. Was probably an afterthought to be honest. It looks low tech cause Ferrari doesn't throw much money into infortainment R&D (if any) and it most likely is not a proprietary unit. Cars are also subject to all sorts of shocks and temperature extremes so they probably needed a very durable unit.

@@NamelessGlasses true... It would have been much better if that screen can roll down or flip away like the one in Bently... That will be just perfect 👌🏻

The Aston's quite dated compared to the other two; however to most ordinary mortals, for all three cars it would be well worth donating a 'nad. What an exciting review!

As someone who had a commute by car of 90 minutes 1 way every day; who road tripped from the east coast to the west coast and back, and from north to south in both coasts; I have to say that Bentley does it for me. The Roma is too uncomfortable and requires more attention. The Aston is just a comfier Roma. But the Bentley, oh boy, it made the travel experience immersive, it made cruising easy, and my body felt OK. Mileage is an issue, too many gas stops, and the air conditioning stopped working at some point. So reliability is a factor with these tourers.

I would prefer the Aston on looks alone... it's easily the coolest car here.. not the most exotic or luxurious but the coolest.

Basically, this is a story about Goldilocks... I doubt I'd buy a GT if I could afford it anyway, but I kinda think the Aston nails the brief best. If I wanted sporty, I'd get a sportscar. If I wanted luxury, I'd get a luxury sedan. I dailied a Fireblade for 5 years so comfort isn't high on my priorities, sportscar for me hahaha. Very nice video, thanks. Very descriptive, and detailed 👍🏼

It’s funny that for the vast majority of viewers, considering ownership of any of these wonderful cars would be the stuff of dreams. Once you accept that, it’s not too much of a leap to accept that in your dreams you can own not one but two or even three GT cars. Rather than which car would you choose to own one might ask which car would you choose to drive today? Great, informative and beautifully made video, as always.

Ferrari Roma is so radical & unlike Ferrari. But, that's what has set this car apart. Roma is the most creative Ferrari has been in a long time. A person who can afford this should definitely get it.
