I was getting very emotional when seeing this video. It's so huge loss for India that we cannot believe how can it be. I remember when I was small kid, I saw the first Nano in silver color, and was so compact looking that I got attracted by the look of it. Just perfect car for small car buyer upgrading from two wheeler. I have also travelled so much in Indigo CS which happens to be our travel car and even travel agencies also love Indigo CS and was used for travel purpose, because it was efficient, practical and solidly build. I'm feeling bad that we never had a Tata Car, but we use the other edible products of Tata like tea, salt etc... Ratan Tata sir is a true legend, and will be in our hearts. And from now onwards, I will only go with Tata car when I will be looking for a car from my hard earned money, just because of the person behind this inherently successful brand image that he made. Will miss Ratan Tata sir very much, but will never forget the dedication he had for Indians.

Indica Our First Car. I Still remember that rainy day in July 2000 when I a grade 1 student, took a bus ride with my dad uncle and granpa to Kochi, Kerala from Kollam to take delivery of the car that will change our life for many years. The silver Indica DLE was there for almost 8 years with us. Many memorable events took place and the car was part of our family. Many trips both domestic and inter-state, even had my first driving experience when i was little behind the wheels for a small 15 20 meters. I still miss that car. held special place in my heart even after many cars came to our garage after her. TATA INDICA always. To our Indica (KL 02 J 6924) and to the man who made all these possible... RIP RATAN sir.

Hi Rosh, We have a stone blue coloured indica (KL 02 P1699).I was 1 year when we bought Indica.I could relate your story with mine.I think tata had a dealership named benz motors back then.I also learnt driving in Indica and used to stand in the seat and observe vehicles outside at the age of 2. It is my Dad's first car and we have a special attachment with our Indica.

Perhaps this is the first time i felt a sense of personal loss when I heard the news. What a man, what a legend, never to be born agan. Such a simple and meaningful life well lived, truly a "Ratan" among all others. So proud of him to have given so much to the society. My first car was Indica DLG turbo and I loved it in spite of all its niggles. Thank you again Hormazd and team, for this timely episode, while we greave as a nation.! Thank you Hormazd and Sergous for sharing this, a gem of an episode from autocar, I didn't realize it was 44 mins long (until i planned to write this comment after watching the whole episode). I own an Indigo GLS, which is still going strong and smooth. Gr8 to know that Hormazd owns an Indica. Also thanks for the clarification on the acquisition of JLR (and busting the myth). So nice of you to have celebrated the 25th anniversary of Indica with Ratan, the video was so special and the pics you have shared of Ratan and Indica. I didnt know about his love for car design and that Indica was designed abroad. I am clueless about why Tiago and Tigor are being neglected by the group on the design front, curv is just a nexon with a better back and a tall stance along with low head room (where as his philosophy of a roomy cabin is not implemented in curv). I didnt know about Ratan's contribution to Indian representation in F1! just amazing. A leader with empathy and vision - you are right that such versions are not manufactured any more.

Words are not enough to express the grief at the loss of one of our greatest gems Sir Ratan Tata. May his soul rest in peace. He truly made cars affordable to mass Indians after launching Indica otherwise both Maruti and Hyundai were extracting too much from Indian consumers for their 800, Zen and Santro which were being sold at the time of launch of Indica.

The true definition of a legend and philanthropist. Someone who helped design and bring his own cars to the market. I will never forget when he acquired JLR, that was all over the headlines. Got India its first seat in Formula 1 (2005) where Karthikeyan raced against Schumacher, Raikkonen, Alonso and other legends of the sport. As a child growing up in the 1990s I was always fascinated by the Sierra, Estate and Sumo models. First car I ever drove was my Uncle's navy blue Sumo and another Uncle of mine later went on to purchase a red Indica. So many fond memories of being in these cars. Rest in peace Ratan Tata 🙏
