PLEASE HELP: I have short listed VW Ameo and Ford Figo Aspire. I liked the solidity and interior quality of Ameo but rear seat is really really cramped. On the other side, the Figo Aspire has lack of premium touch in interior, but feels much roomier. Which one I should opt for?

Sayantan Datta go for ameo.once you test drive in the rear seat for few minutes,u will realise that the head room is adequate.VW ameo is the best you get yet for the money you spent.I wish VW polo GT DSG could have a 1.5 litre engine as 1.2 litre engine could be tough on ghats;then Polo GT could have been the choice.The driving dynamics too is far superior in ameo than aspire.

Completely, totally agree with the closing lines. Have never come across a VW that felt like a good package. This one does feel that though. Would love to see it being compared to its competition. Chief among them being Hyundai Xcent.

kite 5 looks good,but it was only a concept design,wel have to see how it looks after production,also going by the specs its higly under powered with just 1.0 litre diesel ,1.2 litre petrol versions so performance may not match to competetion

I assume you might have seen the production model KITE5's pics. It has all the features and more than what the Zest has, except for the engine. Well, the Kite5 was never aimed to be an Ameo rival. It will rival the lower powered sub 4m sedans like the Xcent, Dzire and the upcoming Chevy Essentia which are almost similar in engine specs. However, news is that the Kite 5's 1.05 Diesel will be getting a bigger turbo and higher power of atleast 85bhp. The 1.2 Petrol is already at par with all it's competitors.While the Zest facelift will come with lot more goodies and a 1.5 diesel to take on the Ameo, Amaze, Aspire.

I am confused to choose between the Ameo or the Petrol version of the Sail sedan...Chevy is larger and powerful but lacks on equipment and interiors. Also Ameo gas a nice price tag... If I was forced to buy a VW, I'd still pick the Polo. I dont understand why this car exists. It offers practically the same leg room at the rear, and a negligible 30-35 litres of extra boot space over the Polo's 294 lts. And at 3971mm of length, the Polo looks far more proportionate and sexy! They managed to make it look ugly by adding an extra 24mm of length and turning it into an Ameo! The worst part is that with the same engine and the added weight of the boot, this car is only going to be more sluggish. I think they made this car for those people with the typical desi mindset that adding a boot, no matter how ugly and useless equates to a status upgrade. Lol!

Hmm, quite true! Although this is subjective, but I think the Figo Aspire probably looks the 'least ugliest' among the sub 4 meter sedans, if I may put it that way! And it has a great diesel engine to negate the effects of the added weight. Too bad, it is still not selling well, for reasons beyond my understanding.

As for the Ameo, I think it was a mistake to launch this car with only a petrol engine for now if they wanted it to be a sales-scorcher. They should've launched it with the 90ps 1.5 TDi engine from polo to make it a good contender in this segment instead of the 110ps version which they intend to launch later. More power is always welcome, but it wasnt the need of the hour. Not to forget, the 110ps version will only drive prices higher.

I don't understand why VW chose the old 3cylinder petrol motor for the Ameo!! Instead they could have given us the 1.2 TSI motor doing duty in the Polo GT TSI along with a manual transmission!! Ameo would have really shattered the competition and would become a game changer for volkswagen! The 3 cylinder motor is not refined and reaching 3digits speeds is quite a work around.Apart from that its quite a good package from VW, but I think it might cannibalise its own sibling the Vento once the Ameo gets the 1.5 TDI with the 7speed shifter.

Gt Tsi is a heavy duty engine which reduces the milege drastically. In India people look for milege more thn anythng else. But dont worry their 1.2 litr 3 cylinder engine performs better thn the one in swift.

+Amit Tyagi No Amit, I tend to disagree, I have a swift and a polo both petrol cars. The swift 4 cylinder motor is extremely refined and much more powerful than the polos. The polos engine is grumpy and less efficient. In city I get around 11kmpl with ac on. While in the swift I get around 15kmpl.

I don't find any reason particularly to hate the car and it's design. Obviously sub 4m sedans are trending in India and following the Honda Amaze, Ford Figo Aspire, Maruti's dzire, VW made its entry. and for price point of view comparing features with other rivals, Ameo is a steal deal. I was first surprised to see how they priced it so competitively in comparison with polo and vento. But it was under Make in India which might contributed to less or no import bills at all. Overall I would say it has got all packed in it that a car would require to attract attention and thoughtful consideration, it may even show customers attraction from hot hatch segment (that of baleno,i20). All we have to see now is how VWs Ameo is going to make noise in streets !

Tata Tigor Base model has higher engine capacity than Ameo Base model. It is half a lakh cheaper than Ameo. It has higher ground clearance than Ameo. Suzuki Dzire Base Model has higher engine capacity and 4 cylinders compared to Ameo Base Model's 3. And it is slightly cheaper than Ameo. Only People who want the Volkswagen Logo will go for Ameo Base Model instead of Tata Tigor or Suzuki Dzire Base model.

VW is sure to get off the line quite slow even with attractive pricing as a it has nothing special to offer specially with a lack of a Diesel motor or the TSI motor , its like sweeping a huge chunk of customers right at the start of its journey , moreover with the competition like the Figo Aspire , DZire and Amaze which offers strong and efficient Diesels and Petrol engines , its unlikely for someone to wait till Diwali for a more exciting Ameo ..

If VW wants to build a better market in India it needs to 1. Adjust the Polo pricing on a tiny scale at least, 2. Come up with better after sales help to answer those horror stories, 3. Reduce the labor charge on servicing bill, and finally 4. Recycle all the Ameos built so far and make Polos again. We love Polo no matter what hence do something to make us improve your sales numbers instead of building these small sedans which make no sense. So called 'f'olks wagen is now uncle's wagen. Dont impress uncles they see ameo and finally buy dzire or aspire lol. Instead impress the youth by following above instructions to help Polo go further up.
