What I have usually seen is manufacturers usually make their profit margins gap widen even if that happens and to end consumer it hardly reflects on paper. I mean they wouldn't reduce the price marginally as low as 30 lakhs for the base and then following variants upwards. Even if BYD decides to make this here in India, right now the starting point ticks at 41, then it would certainly tick at 36-37. To me it's again sub 40 lakh on-road again. What I believe is people who have sought this out and are ought to buy this vehicle they'll love the CBU route more than the make in India as far as what I have seen people appreciating. That's a sad story though! 😅

I drove this machine yesterday in Bangalore traffic and on highways, oh god it is indeed a great car. Luxury and comfort delivered and value for money. The acceleration and deceleration is good and the steering control gives you a lot of confidence. Overall, great car and the LFP technology of the battery is a good bet.

It's amazing how far Chinese car makers have come in terms of technology and quality. BYD's blade batteries are the best in the world and that certainly gives them a competitive advantage. Test drove the Seal recently and was blown away by it's looks, interior fit and finish quality, driving dynamics and acceleration.

This looks good and should drive well considering it is giving tough competition to Tesla overseas. However, the main area of concern is the 145mm ground clearance (unladen). This would reduce by at least 10mm once we have 4 people on board. I would then find it difficult to even remove the car out from my building gate to the road without scraping the underbody.

Just saw this on Bangalore road and in person this looks so fking cool. Behind this was a bwm (couldn't make out the model) and looked pale in front of the seal. I could not make out if this was the premium or the performance version, but the way it took off I couldn't even follow. I was on a bike though. The acceleration was just LIT. 😂

Any way to increase the ground clearance? Like a Lift Kit perhaps? There is one available for the Tesla Model 3, it's called mountain pass or something which raises 140mm gc of model 3 to 175mm. Wish something like this will be available for the seal as well.

The looks are excellent, but at the end of the day, price matters. For a price above 40 lakhs, you get hybrid mpv's and suv's. Sedans at this rate are not feasible to drive in a country like India due to road conditions and where people are leaning towards SUVs, this car may not be a list of choice. That said, if anyone is looking for luxury electric vehicles from the German brands, this is a good choice for them.
