These things are simple, but the texturing make it pop. I can model stuff like this, easily, but i cant texture, and so i never finished anything xD Only some tutorials... i actually did a tutorial for a game character, a simple robot, modeling, texturing and animation for death, movement and attack... i womder if that still availiable in vimeo, i did that in 2012 or 2013. Recently i just model stuff that, basically, i cant model, i just try it to see if i could do it, and, i think, not worth modeling easy stuff, cuz that wont make you better. But when your good and you actually finish your stuff, like you do, with proper texturing, just (i imagine) makes it rewarding to do even simple stuff, cuz they end up looking awesome. Those normal map texturing details looks awesome!! Do you work as 3D artist? since you have maya and post videos on youtube i have to assume a non pirated version xD So professional for sure xD If it was in blender, then yeah, could be hobby, many hobby modelers.
@3dextrude6 жыл бұрын
Making simple things is fun because you can finish things very quickly and don't need to comit too much time. I try to make things that can be made in less than an hour for these videos. You can definitively get better by making simple things, or at least you will get faster at modeling. Yes, I work in the gaming industry; not ready to reveal where just yet.

Hey man I love your videos. I am a 16 year old and interested in the gaming industry,I mean that's where I want to have my career. So is it worth it can an artist make enough money? And what do I need to get a job in some of the well known companies? I hope u answer
@3dextrude6 жыл бұрын
It depends on how much money you want to make. Salaries vary depending on location and also your specialty. In gaming there are typically three specialties for art, you can be a concept artist, a 3d character artist( only do characters), or an environment artist( only do worlds). There are generalist jobs too( people who can do it all), but there aren't that many jobs in that and ususally these are open to senior level artists not newbies. So first, you need to pick a specialty and get as good as you can in that. Is is worth it? Again, it depends; you should be aware that working in gaming is not usually a secure job, studios close all the time and layoffs also happen often in most studios, including the big studios. To get a job at a well known company you need to have a strong portfolio, this is by far the most important thing; other things these companies consider are: your experience level, conmections( if you know someone in the company), where you live( some companies prefer people who live nearby so they don't have to go through relocation which many people expect the company to pay for). Typically mobile game companies are more open to hiring recent grads so that's something to keep in mind too.
@vatsalchauhan21736 жыл бұрын
3dEx so would you recommend me to make a career in this industry or should I do something else .. I have learnt modelling in the past two years or so ... Not characters but assets .. Also I live here in India so I really don't know whether I should go ahead..
@3dextrude6 жыл бұрын
Are there gaming studios in India? If not you will probably have to work freelance or your own game which I don't have experience in so I can't advise on that. Otherwise you will need to move to a country that has gaming studios like the USA. The industry is also very competitive so simply being in the USA doesn't mean you will find a job, since you still need to be very good at it too. I don't know what job industries are good in India so you will have to do more research on the subject. If I were you I would look online and find 3d artists from India or who live in India and ask them what its like and if there are jobs.
