Huge thanks. This was one of the best tutorials I've seen. This explains some occasions I haven't figured out why Fusion has done something I wasn't intending to do. Also this gave me ideas how I think I should proceed on sweeping on cylinders etc. So special thanks for those errors as they're crucial to learning.

Didn't need this until now. Previewed a few other wiring tutorials. Hands down, this is the clearest, most informative one out there. Brad takes his time to explain things. He doesn't talk at warp speed. He includes quick asides of basic things like how to repeat with a right-click swipe or how to enable an icon on the toolbar. It only takes a few seconds, keeps beginners engaged and allows a very short mental break for advanced users. It's what teachers do that nerds don't consider. So, yeah, I'm a fan :)

Tips~~. In order to avoid the snapping that you don't want, you may use Ctrl key( or Cmd key in mac) when you are hovering over the sketch plane.

Excellent video. Things I learned: creating a perpendicular plane along a path; point-to-point move in sketch mode; control to avoid snapping to geometry; creating twisted pair of wires; creating a cylinder axis along with plane at a angle; check to complete a scale (previously I've been using escape); repeating last command with right mouse and up; plane perpendicular to a face at a point.

This was an AWESOME video, really helped me with wiring. Had a question that I am hoping you can answer. When you do a MOVE command to move the end point of the 2D sketch onto a point in a 3rd dimension (out of the original sketch plane), that part works fine, but I discovered that if I go to modify the spline path later to better route the wire, that end point is NOT constrained to original point that I moved it to. (I typically would be picking the center of a post, which works fine. I guess the more general question is, can you create a coincident constraint between the end point of the spline, and a point that is out of plane of the original sketch?

Thanks Brad, would it be possible to look at design files that encompass multi-level links between designs and the best way to organise these links. For example I have a rotating joint in a design which I want to link through to a basic frame in a design then link these frames through to a final design. So three layers of design files, all linked. Is this possible in Fusion360 or should I stick with having the multiple levels all in the same design file?
@ExMachinaEngineering2 жыл бұрын
Do you have a solution for creating ribbon cable folds? I think Inventor has a built in command for that.
@TheVideoVolcano4 жыл бұрын
Brilliant video! But how are you moving the points without using the move gizmo? Why at the top did you create a axis through face and point instead of offsetting from one of the circular faces?
@adskFusion4 жыл бұрын
I believe the gizmo is locked down with an as built joint. And per part 2, it might just be personal preference.

What's the hardware you're running Fusion? I think you have quite hefty hardware. My Sandy Bridge cpu is beginning to struggle in multiple component assemblies and trying to figure out which components to get next. Do you know if AMD Ryzen platform is performing well in Fusion? I haven't found out much topics concerning it.

I'll see if I can get Brad to share his specs, but in my experience, Fusion 360 doesn't require top end hardware. I'm wondering if maybe you have internet connection issues or something else to blame. Thanks Brad for taking the time and teach us. i learned a great deal. not only completely new tricks but the fun part was "reading between the lines" how to use those tools which i use daily without knowing how else and better i could use those. If I am allowed to request: I would like to know more about DXF files. last week i was trying to fix a DXF file which was converted from jpg file. it came out very nice but the thing is i need to know how to fix bad and durty splines and to minimize fusion load cause it took ages for fusion to calculate each fix out of so many. Again, Many thanks!.

We'll see if we can get Brad to comment back. Sit tight...
@bradtallis89685 жыл бұрын
@Robert Breen- Yes, I should have shown how to fix this instead of continuing on... Basically, all you need to do is to delete the "coincident constraint" that was created automatically. Here is a link to a picture showing what I mean: www.dropbox.com/s/xads3yt3gzsl6jh/coincident_constraint.png?dl=0 The red arrow is pointing to the Coincident Constraint. You would just click on that icon and hit Delete on your keyboard.

@dydmp5 жыл бұрын
Yes please, surfaces, surfaces, surfaces! I would like to look at surfaces in the context of industrial design, so that there is a curvature of G2, G3, smooth transitions on complex shapes with curves attached to curved edges of the edges of adjacent patches that will change shape as you make changes to the underlying surfaces. And then give them a wall thickness and start production. @@adskFusion

Brad is cool trainer! But every time I understand what Fusion is very limited CAD in curved geometry. Kernel is very slow calculated building geometry, and your time is go on. Brad is not a comment to you. Thank you for what you are doing, it's a good deal. You meke this simply and thoroughly, it's veri cool!
@adskFusion5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say this is the normal experience. What are you trying to do in terms of curved geometry? And could the slowness be related to something else? I just suggested this to someone else, but maybe try working in offline mode: knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-work-in-offline-mode-in-Fusion-360.html Sometimes if you have a bad connection Fusion gets hung up trying to connect and reconnect all the time.
