@@bobgordon4535 should be a rubber mallet use the hammer to get it off,and the ball fork to split it .

Rubber/nylon mallet as opposed to heavy metal,... just damaging the paint coating which will promote premature rusting.

If your replacing the full wishbone do you need the press tool that he is using..I'm thinking about doing this my self to save money ..I only need to replace the bushing but I will need a press tool for that so if I replace the whole thing will I still need to press it

how high to you jack the arm up before you tighten the 2 bush bolts,,cheers
@autodocuk5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. Tighten the two bolts of the sleeve when the lever is in the working position, namely at the same angle at which it will stand with the car lowered onto its wheels.Best regards,Autodoc!

@@autodocuk just have it where the it woukd be if the vehicle was on the ground, you do this so the bush doesn't have tension on it when the suspension has load on it

Great video, illustrated clearly to me that without being able to lift my car 6ft off the ground this might be a job beyond my skills! xD

Although i kinda see where your coming from i think the clear footage is good. Surely its better than some bad angled video trying to watch while you have your head under a car held up by a scissor jack waiting to collapse and behead you with the disc brake?
@cliffjockey4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not beyond your skills. The car is on the ramp for clarity and because they have one. I've done plenty of these control arms in the driveway on a jack and they're very easy to do.

Just to note if your doing this at home you will probably be doing it off jack stands and it is nowhere near as easy as it looks here. Nuts and bolts seize and are difficult to get at and can be very tight, the new arm will need manoeuvred into place which can require a fair bit of force and the bottom ball joint can be a sod to get back into the hub carrier. Nothing on the video is incorrect, this is how a pro garage will do it just beware doing them at home and good luck.

The arms should only be torqued up when front wheels are on ground....or ramp as it would be or they won't last very long at all😎
