I always liked the stock look with huge tires, great for lowering your CG.

Hi, I really like this way of modifying your Jeep. Keeping it low and avoiding unnecessary lift is what keeps the driving experience from being ruined. We run a Tacoma on a 44" Dick Cepek tires with just over a 2" body lift. We used to run on 38" Gumbo Mudders with no lift. Albeit we had to move the control arms for the IFS down a bit in the front and completely switched out the rear suspension from a spring leaf setup to an air bag system. The rest of the clearance for the tires was made with cutting into the body. There are JK's here that are running 46" tires with no body lift but a great deal of cutting into the body and larger fender flares. One Tacoma has also no body lift but runs 44" tires with no problem. Their fender flares reach the height of the hoods in the front. Instead of lifting it, I would seriously think about clearing out and cutting out some stuff from beneath the fender flares, especially in the rear. I would also look into trying to move the rear and front axle further apart. That gives you better suspension at speed and better angles for offroading, however the drawback is a higher risk of bottoming out on a big rock while rock crawling. Not a big issue for us in Iceland, but could be for you. If your main wheeling is done in the sand, I would recommend checking that out. I am heading for South California in September, a big change for an arctic dweller like me and hopefully it wot be all burned down before I get there!

Great vid man... I came on board right after you installed your bumper & winch... Like everyone else, I'm impressed with your 1-man show's production value, simplicity, and adventurous spirit... ie. I don't know what's gonna happen if I through 37" meats on my stock suspension... lets' TRY IT lol... It feels way more realistic then some of the Sponsored Shop Builds that just dump $30,000 into the build and get the perfect everything all at once. I'm really digging your real-life build so far. Thanks for putting in the effort! I'm about 3 months into the journey with my 2013 JKU Rubicon... Bout to get the wheels/tires and suspension with this year's tax return. I personally prefer the AEV tuner for setting gearing and tire sizes. Its extremely simple. Also, not sure on newer ones like yours, but on my '08 if I hold the traction control for seven seconds, it will disable the stability control. I can do donuts and such without an issue. Oh, and just a note on doing the tire size. Measure from the ground to the center of the wheel, then multiple by two. Will make it more accurate.
@AutoEdits8 жыл бұрын
+Stuka87 I tried that hold the button thing...works when in 4 wheel drive but not 2 wheel drive. It's a Jeep thing but I was really hoping the tuner would help with that. It did in my Ford.

I really like your videos, they are very helpful as I am starting to do mods to my Jeep as well. I have a question for you about running your 37" tires. Did you feel that it was absolutely necessary to upgrade your axel shafts considering the Rubicon already comes with heavy duty Dana 44 shafts? I am purchasing the same metalcloak game changer lift as you, and can't decide if I should run 35" or 37". I already know that I will have to regear with 37" but if I had to swap out the axels too then I might just stick with 35" since axels are pretty $$. I would appreciate any advice from your experience. -Thanks
@AutoEdits7 жыл бұрын
The term "heavy duty" is relative to the other components. Dana 44 axles were not designed for 37" tires and 35's will get you almost everywhere you would want to go. It's a waterfall effect on the other parts as well... axles shafts, gearing, shocks and steering components all are under way more stress with 37's and will wear out faster and cost more money. So keep all that in mind when you pick a tire size.

Not sure if this was mentioned yet but at 4:20 when you talk about tire size I think you may have made a mistake. Even though the tires squish down to 35.5 inches tall, they still have the circumference of a 37 inch tire. It is the circumference of the tire that is used to calculate speed and distance.

Hey @autoedit you should add a keyword to the title, it is slightly misleading. This is a Stock Jeep Wrangler RUBICON**. The Rubicon comes with a slight lift, unlike a Stock Wrangler. Great videos anyway! Just trying to help
@taylorbrown72457 жыл бұрын
Drew Vance This is absolutely incorrect. All Wranglers are fitted with springs/coils that correspond to their trim package or weight. The 13th Anniversary and now Rubicon X have the most stiff coils, they also have steel bumpers and weight the most. So, yes, the Rubis do typically have stiffer coils, but no, they are not lifted...

How did you like the 4.88's with 37" from test I have seen 5.38 much better puts you at 2500 rpm at 75mph in top gear.
@AutoEdits8 жыл бұрын
I think you mean 3.58? Anyway...low RPM on the highway was not the goal here. Good mechanical leverage for the engine to the wheel is what I wanted and the 4.88 with 37" tires is actually kind of close to the stock 4.10 with 32" tires. It's perfect for me...this thing would be a complete pig if it had highway gears like a 3.58.
@Mike-012348 жыл бұрын
autoedit 3.58? Where did you see that? I said 5.38:1 its the lowest ratio you can get for the Dana-44 JK some say the pinon is too weak at 5.38:1 but searched all forums and never found a failure with 5.38's. Right now I'm using running the stock 4.10's in my JKUR. find my self driving in 2nd gear a lot. Mine being an older 2007 has that low power 3.8L.
@AutoEdits8 жыл бұрын
Here's why I said that... a 5.38:1 gear with a 37" tire will get you 51.17 MPH at 2500 RPM... it would take 3700 RPM to go 75. A 3.58:1 goes 75 MPH at 2500 RPM.

It was so easy it was supped, and to turn the ESP back on just repeat. As most of you know, the latest generation of the American off-roading icon, the Wrangler JK, is fitted with a number of features that previous models haven't even heard of. From those features, the electronic stability control system is the most intrusive over the Wrangler's off-road capabilities, while at the same time remaining one of its best on-road safety systems. Fortunately, the system can be switched off for those rare hardcore off-roading sessions, but the funny bit is that there are three ways of disengaging it. The first way is to simply push the ESC button on the center console once, the second way is to push it for seven seconds or simply engage 4lo and the third... well, let's just say that the third is for serious professionals who know what they're doing and want the electronic stability control system permanently off. This is apparently called “The steering dance”: 1. Verify that the automatic transmission selector is in the “Park” position, and that a manual transmission is in neutral gear. 2. Shift the transfer case into the 4H range position and ensure parking brake is firmly set. 3. Turn the steering wheel until it is centered and the wheels are pointed straight ahead. 4. Turn ignition on (and optionally start engine to make turning the wheel easier - will work with or without engine running) and wait approximately five (5) seconds for the system bulb check to complete. 5. Turn the steering wheel one-half turn to the right (clockwise). 6. Press and hold the “ESP OFF” button for 7 seconds exactly then release and wait for chime. 7. Turn the steering wheel back to centre, then continue turning the steering wheel one-half turn to the left (counter clockwise). 8. Press and hold the “ESP OFF” button for 7 seconds exactly, release and wait for chime. 9. Turn the steering wheel back to centre. 10. Press and hold the “ESP OFF” button for 7 seconds, release and wait for chime. 11. Cycle the ignition switch to the “OFF” position. Keep in mind that the above information should be used with caution and only before an off-road session. The electronic stability control system does save lives on the road. Hi, In order to fully disable the annoying ESP system, you can install "ESP kill switch". It's very easy to install, just follow this link: www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-write-ups-39/esp-kill-switch-writeup-260247/ I installed this switch in my 2013 JK sport, and it works really good. In my opinion it’s a mandatory tweak for JK off-roaders. It's really a game changer.

Will a 37" tyre fit on your rear door?
@SLICKW19938 жыл бұрын
They will with a aftermarket tire carrier, Teraflex sells one that installs in the stock location and beefs up the door for the extra weight.

Maaaaaaan, it's so wrong. For 37 inches tires, you need to get axles 60 front and back, and get a 3.5 inches lift kit. And only than put this beautiful tires !! Pretty soon you will break your axles, so get ready to repair them !! )))))

Removing, or cutting down the fenders should be against the LAW ! I have a broken windshield on my truck now, from a jeep coming towards me,l saw the rock come off the tire all the way until it hit my windshield! IT doesn't look good and those Fenders are PUT on there for a Reason.

Bathroom scale for tire weight? Wife approved! I actually suggested we use it in this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqK3mXZ7driZr5I Great minds think alike at 9 minutes :) Awesome video and we love your Jeep dog! Checking out the next clip to see how those 37s perform off-road! Keep on Jeepin' On, my friend 👍🏼
