Thanks for the video. How about parking mode surveillance? Besides from Gsensor, can I use it to record all night long? and if so, how will it affect my car battery? Can I use it with the fuse box?

Hi New Atlantis Republic! it has it's own internal battery (very tiny) with just enough to records a few incidents while parked. Assuming your car is not constantly getting crashed over and over all night I should be enough for most people. Cheers!

@@scotteby6977 Hi Scott! ah good question, that actually would be a very large list! Reason for it is that currently most dash cams in the market use a lithium battery instead of a super capacitor. The main reason they do that is to enable park mode without hardwire, so that is usually the dead give away of a built in battery. Some manufacturers will advertise this and some won't. So unfortunately there are a few dash cams out there where unless you disassemble it we won't know for sure if it has one. But If you do see a particular dash cam on my channel that you want to confirm if it has a battery or capacitor just let me know and I can take a look to confirm for you. Hope this helps, Cheers!

Hi Joko! Correct, if you wear dark sunglasses when driving, the dash cam will also look darker (same as your surroundings since you are reducing the amount of light that can reach your eyes) Hope this helps, Cheers!

Is time lapse for parking mode only, or could it also be used while driving? If not can you recommend any mirror dash cams that have the ability to film time lapse while driving?

Hi! Correct, time lapse is for park monitoring. Time Lapse recording in somewhat rare in dash cams (since most brands don't recommended using time lapse for driving recording) so far we do not have that option on mirror dash cam only on a few traditional dash cams like this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZmkiYqpfK6omdU And I have more dash cam reviews on my channel in the playlist "Dash Cams Reviews" if you like to compare them. I love your videos! I discovered your channel about a month ago and I’ve seen many of your videos. As far as the hardware goes, it seems that all the mirror dash cams share the same menu structure, features, imaging sensors, swiping motions, etc. I’m wondering if you would consider a video that covers the differences between the very expensive and less expensive cameras, what affects the video quality for both day and night vision, imaging sensors, and what I find annoying-the night vision halo affect from any light source-stop lights, tail lights, headlights from on coming traffic, etc. There also seems to be a large number of companies selling mirror dash cams. Is the quality between companies about the same? Who are the major players in mirror dash cam products?

I'm working on a complete series covering dash cam construction, manufacturing, individual components and more tear down videos to show them not just in spec sheets but also in real life. But I will probably make a summary one too that just skims the surface for those that don't care much about the details. However I can say one thing (and this is something I been telling people since my days in sales industry long long ago at a major electronics retailer. Do not buy based on specs, which is is faster, which is the newest, which has the highest number (basically don't let the marketing get you). And instead take a look at the product side by side and pick based on which one you like best (in this case which one looks best to you in terms of video quality) and which one has the features that matter to you. But yeah to answer your question about the biggest players, I will cover this on my videos as well, sometimes brands matters and sometimes is more whoever is making the product behind the scenes! When using this mirror cam at night, is the mirror viable as a stand alone, non-cmaera mirror, and did you find that you prefer to rely on the powered down mirror, or actually use the rear view camera as your rear view mirror, while night driving? Alex, I saw a little sticker over the GPS (in this video) - there was no mention of GPS capability... but why the port if there is none? Are they preparing for a GPS function? I love that feature in the Vantop but... ya know🙃... so I am looking through your videos looking for a replacement (because you are so thorough) - with a GPS function (I loved having three read-outs of my speed - my Garmin, my VanTop, and my speedometer). Hi Child Of The King! ah good eye you are the first to catch that little detail! I think they may be very possibly could be adding GPS either in the future or in a firmware update (assuming the GPS hardware is there internally besides the input port) This is something I seen before in the Vivilink VX150 where it was covered but later turned out to be active (not sure if it was tied to a specific firmware or if it just became standard at some point). Hi Mic! Ah that's a good question that I get often. I think it's depends on what you are looking for in a dash cam. I run different ones on my cars so what I usually tell people looking for the right dash cam for them is to start by picking the how many cameras does it need to have (1, 2 or 3). Now that you have narrowed your selections, consider how much you want to spend on one, that will narrow your choices even further. Then consider any special features you are looking for such as 360° video, Side Camera, Wi-Fi, Parking monitor without hardwire etc. Finally you would want to compare video quality (I have several dashcam reviews on my channel under the playlist "dashcams" if you like to compare). How’s the brightness? I have the Wolfbox g900 and during the day it’s pretty hard to see the video. I really have to focus my eyes to see it because my eyes automatically pick up the reflection. Also, does this have an auto brightness function? Brighter during a sunny day but auto dim at night?

Hi Patrick Leong! ah unfortunately I haven't reviewed the G900 to be able to compare the screens side by side but I have see that condition you are describing. It seems to be more related to how reflective the screen coating is on the mirror that sits on top of the LCD screen. Which increases both reflectivity making the screen harder to see. I do have another video showing this on more detail (thinking of putting several dash cams side by side to show the difference in reflectiveness) Hope this helps and stay tuned for that upcoming video!

Hi Vernisty! I would have the installer check all the connections to confirm nothing has come loose and that the red wire is connected to the correct location to enable park assist. Also some dash cams need to have parking assist enabled on their menu in addition to the physical connection. I've purchased 1 about 4 or 5 months ago don't like it plugged it up worked fine for about 20 minutes then it shut off unplugged then plugged it back shut off 2 minutes later after that it wouldn't stay on so when I was on my way home plugged it back up lasted about 15 minutes then it shut off took it out of car 2 months later put it in my other car came on shut off so I think this particular model has a issue or it is just only mine

Volway currently does not offer extensions (I personally don't use extensions, since I look for the shortest path for install) but some people extend their cables using another brands extension in two ways, one is with an normal extension amzn.to/3EqnxEN and the other way is with a longer cable amzn.to/3fWLzOl for 33ft or amzn.to/3hC9Zgh for 50 ft.
