Here they get called Chelsea Tractors ( expensive part of London). Never off road or dirty, but overpriced, oversized and noisy diesels, driven to posh shops or private school run.

what was the pure petrol engine consumption? it is the same 150hp as the 1.5 tsi but with a 6speed dsg. So as it is carring the weight of the batteries is it consuming 1L more? or even more.

Finally I found it. I found out how deep the trunk is, well done, thank you :D up to 1400L, when the seats are flipped over. Not a helpful measurement, if I want to load a bicycle, that needs at least 1.70 length. It is really a pain in the butt, to find the measurements of the trunk of a car. Nice, that you are regularly provide us with that information, again, thank you :) By the way, the octavia is extremely beautiful. For me, the octavia, with the little higher comfort, quietness of the golf, would be perfect. But yeah, looks like my next car :)

A little more on the charging would help those of us unfamiliar with EVs/hybrids. And - speaking as the owner of an earlier Octavia - roof rack? Do those snub little roof bars actually do anything?

Im really in a split situation. I'm thinking about buying the new octavia but cannot decide between the new iv or the diesel.. i drive 78km to work everyday.. so almost 160km daily but is the iv worth it or is the diesel the best choise? :)

I have had my Octavia iV Estate for just under a week now (my third Octavia). It is certainly a very smooth car to drive and I am impressed by the regenerative braking in S-mode. Foot off the accelerator, the car slows quickly and full rate of charge is achieved. But do the brake lights come on? If not, the degree of deceleration is likely to surprise the following driver.

11:06 - I am confused, thomas says you dont loose any flexibility in the boot/trunk on the plug in versions, but I can only find that it’s has 490 l vs 640 l vs the non-plug in version. I guess he only means above the regular floor on the “highest setting”…

Would be nice to get a bit more detail on actual seat comfort on top of the mention of animal skin vs alternatives. Top 3 most important things for me in buying a car is this.

The seats are very comfy. Test drove one as we are likely going to buy one. Synt. leather and fabric goes good together, not hot, not cold and easy to clean. If you get leather, get animal leather as it will age much better if you treat it every now and then.

I wonder why VW group is using older 1.4 tsi for hybrids? Why not newer 1.5 tsi?

They are the same engines, the 1.5 is a 1.4 that has been adapted to run in the Budack cycle. The 1.4 TSI had been best optimized for the hybrid set up.

Actually is quite easy to do at least 40kms in one charge, and without battery its consumption is in low 5's l/100kms and even less than 5 is also possible, based on my own experience. 14:05

Not in electric mode. Got my IV two weeks ago and I’m absolute astonished about how smooth the shifting in „normal“ mode is. Due to the electric „help“ while changing gear you almost don‘t feel any change at all. It‘s way better than my „old“ DSG in my Golf GTD before.

Is the cruise control still basic - you have to go up in single km Is the fuel saving engine cut off still without a timer ? (A 10 second timer would assist for short stops)

I'm not sure if you will be able to order Canton on this car, and if you will it will be without the subwoofer. The iV Superb does not have the subwoofer in the Canton package, there is no space for it because of the batteries.

@@linusvive8488 , there is a Subwoofer inside both of the Skoda iV's! It's located at left side behind the rear seat between battery and petrol tank. There is a small gap and you can open the floor to find it! :-)

@@petergelhaus1586 Hmm, very interestning. The Superb spec-sheet says that the sub is excluded from the iV, and I was actually looking for the sub the last time I saw the car. I will have to check it out again! perhaps it's different in different countries, regulations surrounding the battery might have something to do with it?

A really comprehensive review! I am still hesitating between the Octavia and Hyundai Ioniq... all the small mishaps of Octavia are not present in the Ioniq, but noise insulation is probably better in Octavia.... Any thoughts on that?

@@virgazsoka8392 I finally opted for Ioniq, main reason being 5 years waranty which is quite reassuring. Must say I am quite happy with it's performance so far, very comfy driving position, you don't get tired or uncomfortable on long distances, and the economy is pretty much as stated 4 litr in summer and 5-6 in winter (I live in the North)

I'm at my second Octavia, the 2 facelift now, and dreaming about this one, but I would honestly get the 2.0 tdi as I have now, the fuel consumption is low and the price of purchase is lower.

I was told by my seller in Sweden that the vehicle cant be factory fitted with a towbar because the vehicle will not have enough ground clearance. However, you can have it electrically prepared from the factory and have it installed later, but it will be an aftermarket towbar (not foldable).

Suspension is probably higher because you have ca.200kg extra ev system weight to carry around.

Thomas, Vehicle Manufacturers Terminology is sometimes unclear. Diesel, Petrol & EV are unambiguous. However, Hybrid is a different story. Some have electric motors exclusively powering the vehicle, with an engine to recharge the batteries, while others (perhaps the majority) have a Petrol engine powering the vehicle, with battery assistance for torque and power regeneration while going down hill, for example. Is there Universal Terminology to differentiate between these? Please state unambiguously within your reviews. I believed Mazda CX30 was to be Electric Motors, with a Petrol Engine to recharge the battery, but now I am unsure if that is true.

@@paultailor6254 Hi Paul, I mean when running in hybrid... so the petrol and battery both active, the electric assisting the petrol. I know the battery will receive small top ups from regen braking etc, but I can't find an answer anyway. Thanks.

@@Rip-Van-Tinkle hi Pete! Sorry for misunderstanding. As far as I understood when the 1.4 TSI + the 13 kWh battery work together, they make possible to travel up to 800km. The battery life mostly depends on the driving mode (use regenerative braking as their energy source as well), the average speed, and the temperature outside.

In a way, the Octavia’s interior has a calmer feel than the Audi A3, Seat Leon or Volkswagen Golf.

I absolutely HATE the lack of manual levers and dials, and the reliance on touch surfaces to control climate, volume and lights in new VW GROUP cars. They are dangerous and should be outlawed!

Do you know when the 1.5 mild hydrid DSG7 will be available ? For now this engine is only associated to a manual gearbox. It's a pity....

Unbelievable you cannot have a tow bar fitted to the hybrid versions as it spoils the official run times on electric etc tow bars only on petrol and diesels, I was all set to order a new car for work but bloody stupid..on car of this torque....even the crappy Toyota Corolla hybrid can have tow bar even though limited to 700kg tow weight which is crap on 2.0 litre car

I hope that the HUD display on the windscreen can be turned off. Or my first mod to this car would be to put electrical tape on that piece of garbage. Looks like a bird shat on the windscreen

The plug in is old tech now. Well done VW group, three while years to introduce this power train to skoda. Anyone considering this car should read up on the Passat GTE that failed just outside warranty and vw didn’t want to know. Kia; more than double the warranty- no brainer
