Luxury car manufacturers have much higher R&D costs than budget car manufacturers. So it would make sense that they would want to save a little on buttons. But, for the price they are selling those luxury cars they should be able to spare some cash for buttons. But then again, their business model is based on built-in obsolescence to drive higher sales, so making most of their car's features software-based makes sense to them, because softwares become obsolete faster than buttons.

How good to see such a non premium car reviewed, thank you. The first glory is that there is a version available WITHOUT an infotainment system; just wonderful. Secondly it is great to see 4WD with a manual shift again, because you get so much better control in difficult road conditions. Finally even at €29k as specced this is an object lesson in what you do or do not really need. I understand the need for autobahn performance in a country like Germany but where I live in the UK and other such backward European countries practical off road and poor weather performance really matters for rural use cases. I am not sure this is quite rugged enough to replace an old Land Rover Defender for farm work with a ewe and two lambs in the back, but it does quite a lot of that job.

I like what Dacia is doing. It does not make sense that base Volvo XC40 starts at 43,000 Euros, but base model of Dacia Duster is 19,000 Euros. There is no amount of quality in base model Volvo XC40 that justifies it being twice as expensive as base model Dacia Dsuter. The same goes for BMW X3, Audi Q4 and the rest of them. We consumers need to hold back and actually stop buying cars for several months, holding on to what we currently have in protest aginst these brands that are charging ridiculous amounts. All of them these days are charging 100,000 Euros casually for their midrange class of vehicles, vehicles that are supposed to be daily drivers. Makes absolutely no sense.
@wheelwrightpl94295 күн бұрын
Interior quality is better than in cars costing 3 or 4 times more, because this Dacia lacks dirt-and-grime-encrusted "piano black" and has lots of physical buttons, instead of inferior and cheaper "haptic" buttons like in so many VW and Stellantis products.

Dacia Duster is not necessarily a bad car even with the small engine. It is just that it seems more appropriate if you need it for work, construction site, agriculture, if you live in the mountain, or something similar. It’s interesting to me in a world where there is such pressure to reduce carbon emissions, Germany persists with very high motorway speeds and the associated pollution level. Some manufacturers are already limiting their cars speed and so the Dacias performance outside of an autobahn, ie the rest of the world, is probably adequate and in line with what you would expect from a car like this. Dacia should be applauded for bringing such an interesting and affordable car to the market, it makes a refreshing change from the overweight and oversized led clad monsters filling up the roads and literally costing the earth to manufacture. The Dacia seems a much better solution.

They never had LEDs on the high beam, but there are homologated LED "bulbs" that you can install in your car, although the price for one LED is about 150 euros.

Where can you see the rpm's on the instruments ? When you were going on the highway I saw only the speedometer but I know that the Duster also has a tachometer ...
@laurradu8685 күн бұрын
It does, it is a bar from left to right, with a middle eco highlight from 2200 to 3200 rpm, or something like that.
@mart_en5 күн бұрын
@laurradu868 Really ? I magnified the display but just saw the speed and a yellow line. But thanks for the quick response.

@mart_en there are three modes to see the display. One of it has the rpm.

If you can not afford more, it looks like a nice car. Its a bit more expensive in Sweden, seems to start at 23k, which is a 1-2 year old Audi A3 low mileage.
@BaaLaaN5 күн бұрын
Agree but you can do so much more with the Duster even 4x2 is a more capable car than the A3 if you want to go outside the tarmac. You can trash the car around and it will hold its own. It al depends on what you want to do with the car but offroad there is no comparison between the 2 even the 4x2 version of the Duster.
@AndrewTSq5 күн бұрын
@@BaaLaaN I am just guessing now, but I would guess that its only a small part of the population that buys a SUV that goes offroad with it. And also, going offroad means you need better tires, than those that comes with the cars in many cases. Also nothing of the chassies of the suv's I have seen has looked like they would survive offroading. SUV is popular to make cause they do not have the same hard regulations as small cars have.

So please read what I write next time about it being used.... Also this car has equipment like radar based cruise control, and sport seats, android auto and carplay ofcourse, 10" screen, + digital dash, keyless drive, and so on. No legal way for offroading in Germany except some distinctive offroad parks with obstacles. Most customers will not use this car offroad, and if offroad, they ll do some gravel road and not rock climbing. What I said though is that this car is highly offroad capable, maybe we ll get the chance to do that at some point
