Mine is coming around end of December, same as in this video. First new car, first duster. For me who live in the countryside with bumpy roads, go sometimes for either the mountain or the coast, and mostly commute to work in the city everyday, this duster seem like the perfect compromise for that price. I'm really looking for versatility but I don't expect any kind of particularly good performance on anything, just a car that will do it's job whatever it is, in relative confortable, with no pretention to leave a porches cayenne behind, pull more than my volkswagen crafter I use for work, or anything special. Just a good car that will last some time I'd taken care of

@davidrowley9513 assuming you'd like to buy something new, the only way to avoid certain new features would be to look NOW for dealer-registered cars (so legally second hand, but probably 0 or low milage). In order to be able to sell cars as of July 2024, they either have to be equipped with all the new systems or they have to be registered before 7 July. I'm sure there's some stock left. I test drove the Duster Extreme Hybrid and one of my favorite hill was close to the dealership. I was not over the top yet and the battery was depleated, leaving me with a low power NA engine. I did not like that, given the price of the Hybrid option. I did not have the chance of driving the LPG engined Duster or the 1.2 Turbo mild hybrid.
@MarekDrivesENG
@MarekDrivesENG Ай бұрын
Even if the battery looks empty, it's still there giving you some assistance. You'd have to drive the car on track to go below a critical threshold, in which case you'd get some sort of a warning.
@10mbc
@10mbc Ай бұрын
@@MarekDrivesENG I'm on my 2nd mild hybrid with a manual and on a manual you feel it way more than on a automatic. You don't need a track and you get no warning, it's just that you don't get the assist. There is no need for a track, you just need a steep mountain road and we have plenty around here. My i30 has a 0.85 kwh traction battery and the Hybrid Duster has a 1.2 kwh traction battery and, while my ISG has 17ps max, the Duster's electric engine has 49 ps so it will drain the battery even faster. At this moment, I'm pretty sure I ran out of usable traction battery during the drive test.

Excellent review- Sometimes brutally honest, but I think all your criticisms are justified. My wife and I have run a number of Sanderos and Dusters, Gens 1 to 3, she's currently on a Gen 2 Duster (our second one, first may have been Gen 1.5...). They all do what they say on the tin, have been fuss-free and have provided reliable, acceptable transportation (some more than others in that last regard) over many years. I have recently upgraded to a Mazda CX 60 PHEV in top trim with all the bells and whistles and... Honestly? I might almost be happier with a Gen 3 Duster at between 1/3 and 1/2 the price. Duster cannot please everybody 100% all the time, or any car for that matter.

Good review. This is the first Duster I don't consider to buy. This is not the price range to choose esthetic cars but frugal and functional. One step forward with design, two steps back with engine choice. I am sceptical about the tow capacity of these engines.
@MarekDrivesENG
@MarekDrivesENG Ай бұрын
I feel as if towing is Europe's answer to pick up trucks. A lot of people say they want big towing capacity, but they never (or rarely) tow anything, let alone something that would max out a car's towing capacity. Having said that, if I planned on towing something really heavy, I'd never consider a B-crossover.

@@MarekDrivesENG I would say that having a hook is more practical, and far more economical than buying pickup truck, especially for occasional uses. Here in CEE, people living in villages quite often pull something. And when not used, they have small, practical car or SUV. I like to see vehicles used to their full capacity or purpose :) However, as I have followed this model further, that engine doesn't look so bad for most of my needs. I would like to try it.

A nice video and it's a pity that Dacia/Renault failed to execute what is fundamentally both a good idea and a car in a better way. There is definitely a pretty big market for a car like the Duster. In Germany, for example, the car has had a large following since the first generation and it is popular to modify the car with both better parts and technical solutions. As far as I understand, there is great criticism from that side that the new generation does not have proper side windows behind the C-pillar. I guess this is primarily a design thing, but a bit of the utilitarian aspect of the previous generations is definitely gone. In any case, many search for cheap cars such as the Duster while they wait for electric cars to become both better and not least cheaper.

Someone from the UK mentioned in the comments that you guys are still on second generation facelift. I assume Dacia UK is waiting until 2025 for some reason. I assume there's good demand in LHD markets, and it's a matter of allocating some of the output to RHD markets. Also, it is possible they needed to get rid of all 2nd gen facelift RHD stock before ISA and other new safety features became mandatory on all new cars sold (July 2024).

It's a real shame because this car - like French cars in general - is really nice, but just won't fly here in Asia where we demand practicality and simplicity come first in our low-cost cars and Dacia would be laughed out of the room for a rear door pocket that won't take a 500mL bottle, let alone those wacky You Clip accessories. I like that u tell the truth. If u live in a rural area, with hills and difficult roads ,this is a cheap new car to buy. But if u dont live in that kind of area, and you care about your safety in case of a crash, you should pick a better brand car, even a second hand will be a better choice.

Notebooks? Do kids know how to write or draw by hand nowadays? I bet they look for the on button.... oh wait, things don't have buttons anymore. And as far as the Duster goes, it's a very classy looking car. And it's affordable. I do wonder if a hybrid system would be the perfect compliment to that 3 cylinder engine. Sure it would cost more but in the long run you'd save a ton in fuel costs. People who buy vehicles like this probably drive them into the ground so it would be worth it.
@MarekDrivesENG

I don't have kids, but I think tablets and smartphones shouldn't be the first things they get their hands on. I imagine it's convenient for parents to keep them occupied, but that's not raising children. That's just breeding. If they could get their hands on a Toyota hybrid (or even Hyundai hybrid), it would the best car in the world. Renault hybrids... not so much.

@@MarekDrivesENG the CX50 is getting Toyota's 4th gen hybrid. I don't get why some companies have been so slow to develop hybrids. The BMW X1 here runs on premium fuel and no hybrid system... So pay 40c more per litre and worse fuel economy for your entry level vehicle? At least the new X3 gets a 48volt system...which is kind of fake hybrid. Yah tablets are the devil. We never let our kids look at a smart phone or tablet in most situations. They read a book, play their instrument go play with their friends. Draw. Play a sport. When I see a toddler watching something at a restaurant or in their stroller I go crazy inside.

8:15 Nobody said that space is for smartphones. Many cars have that kind of space and it is before phones were invented. You can put there something light, some napkins, cigarettes, a wafer, a bag of hazelnuts, and you have to make sure that what you put in that space will not cause problems. Any normal person understands that the phone should not be placed in that space, just as you understand that you do not put a cup of coffee on the dashboard while driving. You criticize a hypothesis created by you. It can be used as a temporary space where you can quickly throw some bills or place your wallet, it's a useful space.

I am considering the Duster in top spec Hybrid 1.6 litre 4x4 extreme model like the look of it we are at the moment still waiting for the car to be launched in the United Kingdom been told around september but should be able to get a test drive before then . never considerd the duster before now thought it was very ugly looking car and very nasty looking inside and out but this model is leaps and bounds better looking than the models before we are at the moment running a Nissan Navara double cab pickup which is Techna trim top of the range auto but its thirsty Big at over 5 m long and it weight is 2.3 tons all in all big Car I need something with half the size and less fuel and less insurance and the Dacia seems to fit the bill well we will see soon great video thank you.

The Duster in this spec is a bit too fancy. Heated steering wheel and a digital display? Blasphemy! On a more serious note, at a lower price in a cheaper spec I would be more willing to overlook some of the issues you've found with the Duster. I have to give kudos to Dacia though for putting in some thought and effort in the design - the ISA button is great and the U clip system could be a bit of fun especially for people making their own things with a 3D printer.
