The green X7 looked really good. I think the new front design works on the X7 but is a disaster on the new 7 series. LOL! For me, the GLS would run the X7 really close, although I would still end up choosing the BMW.

Great reviews as always. I like the Mercedes’ gls (580 though) and Range Rover v8 best. Those would be my picks. I’m not sold on the exterior looks on the bmw and that the instrument panel feels like it is floating around.

Waiting on my Maybach GLS 600 and this reinforced my choice. looking for the luxury in probably the last SUV I will buy. currently have the Cadillac ESV , and my daughter has the BMW. I no longer need the extra cargo room as it is usually just my husband and I traveling, so going for the over the top luxury and may have to hire a driver LOL

Excellent comparison. Totally agree about essential functions buried in screen menus. Manufacturers seem to think "if we can, we should". Far too many functions that you will never use being put into cars. Concentrate on engine, drive train and suspension. One function I think all cars should have is adaptive cruise control. Would improve safety in fog for example. Can't agree on looks of X7. It's ugly.

I would have to go with the Mercedes have had the best reliability and comfort especially with those massage chairs. Second choice would be the Bentley beautiful car overall. The maybach is beautiful if you are passenger that would be my first choice. Overall I believe Mercedes infotainment system works so well. Of course the gls63 would be my choice mainly because if you have the money to buy a high end suv I don’t believe fuel economy is a concern. Great reviews overall thank you for the content

Gasoline and Hydrogen are fuels. With fuels you get freedom. you can move it anywhere use the energy to variety of use from mechanical output to electrical to thermal. With battery you have like virtual storage of electricity. You know it can deplete anytime for any reason. what you are left with is a brick. imagine a Snowstorm or hurricane. Which one will you trust. A compact gasoline generator and some stored gasoline or your solar/grid Battery backup? or if you go for an offroad adventure for few days with camping. which one you will pick a Rivian or a Ford truck with some extra fuel and propane cylinders? Carbon neutral clean fuels will remain a key player for ever.

What are you suggesting? I can just tell you that I rate per segment and car and I dont care about brands. BMW just recently did a good job (besides the grill design on some which is doubtful) and also improved massively in reliability rankings. I wouldn’t pick a BMW in every segment though.

Also note that luxury brands will always have the worse/outdated vehicle. Their development and running budget is always WAY lower than a mass premium brand. Their vehicles are technically always worse, it’s just that they are more unique and exclusive. Interesting exception: Urus and RSQ8 are the very same cars and also same software standing, just styling and price differ

I have "animal-free" ("vegan") faux leather in my BMW X3 30e M-sport X-drive and from my experience...it's CRAP versus real leather. It looks and feels nice when new...but it ages very quickly. On the driver's seat I can already see a slight patina (color change) to the Cognac color...and I keep the car clean. This whole virtue-signaling approach to marketing is stomach churning. Keep it to yourself and give us back the real leather!

Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. They can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even from plant-based materials (like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum). Or the Polestar 3 e.g. is using pine oil. And even if you still create a leatherette seat the classic way with petroleum base without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is very little in comparison to how much oil is used for other car parts or how much oil is burned for fuel or heating. So it is the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the priority use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down or even murdered on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.

The Range Rover is very disappointing in-quality and looks like a Kia Telluride, The BMW X7 Front is horrendous, the Bentley Bentayga is lacking in the tech department, The Mercedes Maybach is outdated and just looks like a minivan. The Rolls Royce Cullinan is outdated and look like a funeral car.😔This further confirms that the Cadillac Escalade is in a class of its own and definitely the king of all luxury SUVs.🤔

But unfortunately, so far, for more than 100 or so years since the vehicle appeared, they have only come up with small innovative fillings. The performance and consumption economy of a vehicle is reflected by a new technical and technological structure. The rest as comfort returns to the last stage. Unfortunately, nowadays, the whole automotive industry only copies from each other with small differences in desing, certain aesthetic elements, and in terms of new revolutionary mechanical concepts remains at the white sheet stage.
