With a little wet sock smell starting to appear, I thought it was a good time to clean out the A/C system.
As you may know, I am a fan of Autoglym and gave their cleaner a go. For around 30 Aussie Dollarydoos it's a cost effective way to stay on top of it. Pair it with a new cabin filter and you are good to go.
Step 1: Park your car outside or in a very well ventilated area as you will need to have your car running for some time.
Step 2: Turn on your car and run it with the air conditioner on for 5-10 minutes. Set A/C to a low temperature, on recirculation, a medium fan speed and only open the face vents.
Step 3: Set the can off in the passenger side footwell, press the button until you hear a click and the button locks into place. Ensure the can is in the perforated part of the box as shown and at the 45° angle.
Step 4: Close the doors, windows, boot, hatch etc. allow the can to empty itself and leave the car and A/C running for a further 5-10 minutes.
Step 5: Turn the car off and open windows, doors, boot/hatch etc. allow to vent for at least 10 minutes.
