Glad you liked it and Rapid Ceramic Spray made it onto the shelf. If you are in the trade, or getting through a lot of this, it is available in a 5L container in the Autoglym Professional range as Instant Ceramic Coating- same stuff inside

Great video Mark. Very useful showing the performance differences between the 2 methods. Albeit this is a new AG product it's a really nice to see AG stuff being reviewed and demonstrating it's a great brand still that amongst some more modern detailing users it's looked down upon as being a little out of date.

Cheers Andy. It's definitely not what you'd call a 'scene brand' lol but it's a brand that still appeals to the masses and based on ease of use, it's easy to understand why it's the brand of choice for most people who just want to enjoy giving their car a 'quick spruce up' at the weekend 🙂👍🏼

Great job there Mark, funnily enough this is very similar to a video I’m currently making on a different product. I’ve also found the dry method is best, gives that solid base that you can top up every other wash to keep things going if you have no interest in stripping protection off and applying something else.

There's a lot of brand snobbery in the detailing world with the attitudes of a lot of people being that if a product doesn't cost you an arm and a leg it's a crap product.

100% agree Peter... It then becomes popular to dislike popular brands 🤷🏻‍♂️ but brands like AutoGlym got to where they are by providing good products at affordable prices - does that mean they're the best, no... But it doesn't mean they aren't quality products either. They're extremely user friendly and within most people's budgets 👍🏼

@@SparkleanAutos ... I've used some of their products on and off your years and was always satisfied with the results ... Their glass polish was and still is really good to clean the glass of stubborn marks before using their glass cleaner, I found their Ultra Deep Shine excellent when used on my old Octavia with a good wax polish to top it off, their tyre and trim gel was great on bringing the black back to life on my trim albeit I never used it on my tyres ....

There’s decent cheaper brands, I mean not everything in there range will be good but some things are great, even with the top brands, not all of there products are great, I got some EZ car care stuff that’s well worth the money but some of there stuff I wouldn’t buy it again, some people love there products but some hate them, I remember when Yiannimizze products came to Halfords, I saw comments of people who hadn’t even tried them and presumed they was junk, some said they would never buy anything with his name on it, some said it’s just carchem but rebranded, I tried a few and they are hit and miss but people decided without even trying them

I've had a bottle of this for nearly a year and was hoping it would be a "ceramic aqua wax" if that makes sense because I love the wet application method for Aqua Wax. This gives me pause for thought though. Really helpful video.
@SparkleanAutos

I think that's where some of the confusion over this product comes - I haven't used Aqua Wax but I've seen a couple of videos on it, namely Martin at ObsessiveCarDetailer and the process appears to be the same as this for the 'Wet' application but I think that product is more suited to it - this one, for me at least, was much easier applied dry! 👍🏼

Good little review there which offers good evidence of the best way to use the product. I know you advised how to deal with the streakiness, but it did look pretty streaky, which means more work and time to perfect the finish. Are there easier to use products? I think there are. But good hydrophobics after 10 days. Did you leave it on Mark, see how far it went?
@SparkleanAutos
@SparkleanAutos Жыл бұрын
That was only recorded at the start of this week so yes, it's still on - the car won't move or be washed now for at least 6 weeks so we shall see how it holds up lol The streakiness, to be fair, was largely user error - I didn't thoroughly dry the car off before applying it which is more evidence to support the dry application over the wet... In my opinion 😃

I've not seen any of your videos before, but this was excellent. So many videos on KZbin are too long with unnecessarily long intros. I'll definitely take a look at some more of your videos. As for AG Rapid Ceramic, I'm a detailer and I picked some of this up several months ago, but never got around to using it. From the video, it definitely looks fairly hydrophobic, but how did you find the gloss levels with it?

Hi Jon, the one I'm using there is the Autobrite Direct Ultimate Drying Towel... (See links at the bottom of this message!) I genuinely really like this one, so much so I have 3 of them now! I find the key is to dampen them first - for me the best way to do that is to dry the glass first - then just lightly drag it across the panel the way you see me doing here. I don't wash them after every use, just let them air dry somewhere clean (takes a day or 2!) then put them back in the sealed bag. I clean them every 5 or 6 washes... For cleaning them i used to just use plain supermarket's own branded non-bios, about 20-30ml and ABSOLUTELY NO FABRIC SOFTENER... but recently I actually got some Autobrite Direct Clean Towels in offer from Amazon and it really made the towels like new again! Hi quick question can you use this product after polishing the car.?
@SparkleanAutos
@SparkleanAutos 2 ай бұрын
Absolutely, in fact that's when I'd recommend using a protection product most, especially a ceramic based one like this - however, depending on the type of polish you may want to use a panel wipe first - as in if you've used an abrasive/correction polish (typically used via machine), then to maximise the durability of the rapid ceramic spray, you'll want to clean the polishing oils from the paintwork first... But if you've used a glaze/filler type polish (typically applied by hand) then I would at least leave it 2-3 hours to cure before applying this... Again just to maximise the durability - that way it'll 'lock in' the glaze effect rather than wipe it off!! Hope that helps 👍🏼

Sorry I should've said, by cleaning the polishing oils off, I mean with a panel wipe of some sort 👍🏼

How do you tell the bonnet has no protection on it ? I'm totally new to washing cars correctly.
@SparkleanAutos
@SparkleanAutos 2 ай бұрын
Hi Paul... Well the simple answer is, if you spray water onto the bonnet and it just 'sits' there, as in it's not sheeting off or beading into small droplets, it means the water is in direct contact with the paintwork - What the protection actually does is put a 'barrier' between the paintwork and the environment... This makes it easier to clean, and the easier it is to clean the less chance there is of causing damage. Hope that answers your question!

You are correct in the sense that what people would recognise as 'real' ceramic coatings generally come in glass bottles... Ceramics are basically made up of 3 things - solids, solvents & additives. Whereas ceramic coatings are typically around 50%+ solids, and once opened typically have a shorter shelf life... ceramic spray sealants can be as low as 10% solids, and as such it's absolutely fine to store & transport them in larger plastic bottles. Once applied they typically last 3-6 months (despite some bottles saying up to 12 months!), and will be applied more often. So products like are still ceramic, the same way that a fast food burger is still a beef burger despite the sometimes questionable amount of beef! 👍🏼

Isn't this the same as Autoglym aqua polish??
@SparkleanAutos
@SparkleanAutos 2 ай бұрын
Hi Jonathan - If you mean Aqua Wax then the simple answer is no - the idea is the same in terms of the wet application, but Aqua Wax is a carnauba-based sprayable wax, whereas this product is a ceramic-based protection spray - both essentially do the same thing but chemically in a different way! 👍🏼

According to one supplier chain, this has a 'Tropical scent ' ?? Why?? It's for external use on car bodywork What possible motive is there to make it smell tropical? Utterly pointless
@SparkleanAutos
@SparkleanAutos 6 ай бұрын
I have no idea 🤷🏻‍♂️ scents don't interest me with exterior products but at the same time, car care, for a lot of people, is about user experience... so maybe some people like using products that smell nice, even if that scent does only last while they're using the products. Personally I didn't notice a scent nor do I ever pay too much attention to that, but for some people it's important and manufacturers pick up in that I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

Surely in a product that you can use wet or dry that if used wet, as yih said yourself, you're wiping off the product as you dry it rsther than rubbing it in when done dry
@SparkleanAutos
@SparkleanAutos 7 ай бұрын
Yes exactly, the problem when you're wiping off while applied 'wet' then the product is watered down significantly, and you would be saturating your towels with product... Where as applied dry, you aren't watering down the product, you're using dedicated cloths which you can do the entire car before they become saturated AND the results last significantly longer... I don't see any advantage to using it wet at all but plenty of disadvantages! 👍🏼

I completely agree, and anyone experienced enough with car care/detailing should know that... BUT... It doesn't say that on the bottle, and this series is about following instructions the way any casual user would 👍🏼

Would there be any benefit to layering this ? I found a bottle in my garage so would it be worth applying it dry and then going round again for a second coating ? Thanks.🙏

It's a good question... I can't say yes or no but it certainly wouldn't do any harm... But I wouldn't apply it straight away - with 'true' ceramic coatings you should leave 3-4 hours between coats and, although this isn't a proper ceramic coating, it does contain some of the same chemical properties and I would suggest a similar method... Certainly at least 2 hours to allow some curing 👍🏼 To be honest though, if you wanted to be really sure what is best, you could contact AutoGlym's own technical support team 👍🏼

@@SparkleanAutos thanks very helpful ! Would I need to leave some time post polishing too? So polish wait an hour or so and then apply this ?
@SparkleanAutos
@SparkleanAutos 7 күн бұрын
Depends on the polish... If it's AutoGlym SRP, or any other type of glaze/all-in-one polish then I would leave as long as possible - although these polished do contain some mild abrasives for paint correction, they are primarily 'fillers' and as such would need curing time - ideally 24 hours but that's probably overkill, I would still wait at least 4-6 hours, 12 if it's practical! If you're using a 'proper' abrasive polish (or 2 stage polishing) with a machine then you'd be fine to go straight in afterwards, although you would certainly need to use a panel wipe of some sort to remove the polishing oils - but DON'T do this with a glaze/all-in-one polish as you'll just remove that filers again! Hope that helps and isn't even more confusing?!
