Always a pleasure to see this pair in action. Thanks for posting! As Extra Gloss Protection is a thin liquid it is easy to over apply and that is where you get the dust and slight grabbing of the cloth. It is easy to do, but as you say, even if you do pop a bit too much on it doesn't cause any real problems.

I started becoming obsessed with car cleaning g about a year ago. I’ve learnt so much and I think half the battle is knowing what products and equipment work for you. It’s daunting when you first start but I’ve now built up a list of things I like and those which I don’t. Cost is always a consideration but Autoglym for me is still a go to manufacturer. Always nice to experiment though and you never stop learning. Thanks for posting.

Excellent video Martin thank you. I've used SRP & EGP for 20+ years, usually on my daily cars as they are less work and produce excellent results. I will be using them both late-spring/early-summer on my car as it needs some tlc. I apply the SRP on a dual-action polisher which does a great job preparing the paint for the final stage. Once the EGP has been buffed off, I will go over with a quick spritz of detailer spray to finish off - this will give months and months of protection, although I will still top up the EGP every so many washes as its so quick to use.

On the few occasions I polish the car the Autoglym range has been my preferred choice over the last 35 years. The gloss protection is new to me which I used for the first time last year when I changed my car. Great video! Don’t worry about the stick you get for this, it’s a product most will go for first and having videos on this is far better than some premium polish you have to have delivered.

Great video! I’ve recently used these two again myself for the first time in years and the finish is excellent. I bought two new bottles and I didn’t notice much dust either. I know egp lasts a while and maybe not as long as the newer products but who cares as part of the reason we do it is because we like polishing cars and making them look good! 👍

Great to see SRP in action. I've used many other products but have come back to this one. No fuss, easy application, great shine. I usually top it with Collinite Insulator wax, another blast from the past. They pair very well and give a long lasting shine, good beading, etc. What's not to like.

I've been using these for about 15 years solid (maybe more) and will continue to. In my experience the 'EGP' lasts for 6 months. Many thanks for this. I've been using Autoglym Super Resin Polish for years and started using their Gloss Protection about 5 years ago, but have had real problems with the latter and was going to stop using it. I was really struggling to take it off; as you say it's grippy and I hand polish. So I watched ths video and I know where I've been going wrong. I've been putting too thick a coat on. So this time I copied you and put a thinner coat on and hey presto; it worked wonderfully and I took if off very easily. So not only can I now keep using it, you've also saved me money, because the thinner coat means I use less of it

Another superb impartial video Martin, I've told you before I'm an autoglym man through and through and have been for more years than I care to remember, yes their are better more modern products out there but autoglym is reliable and dependable, yes not every product is top of the class but they do an honest job. I think the biggest problem with most people is that they aren't as 'fashionable' as the likes of Garage Therapy and other new comers to the scene.... Hiya Martin, great review of both products. You know that I'm a big fan of Autoglym products. I honestly think that it's because they are so old like Turtle wax that people want to brag about the latest products without realising what the likes of Autoglym have done for the detailing world over the years. I cut my teeth some 30yrs ago at a car dealership and they were using Autoglym back then. Sadly I moved out of the Valeting scene but now I just look after my vehicle, Autoglym was the first product I went and re-bought because I knew how good they are and more so I trusted the brand. I have been using these products in smash repair shops for over 30yrs and still haven’t found anything better and yes i have tried most. Best thing about it for panel shops is there is no silicon. Do yourself a favour and apply with a damp cloth and thinly. That will nearly eliminate the dust you mention and make removal easier. Main reason people don’t like Super resin polish is because they apply it to heavy and try to remove before being completely dry. Super resin polish i leave on overnight before buffing off.

Great review Martin. I think AG products are unfashionable amongst very keen detailers but, the average car owner will still see these products as a bit upmarket compared to, say, basic Turtle Wax products or Simonize. I reckon there are levels of car care from those who might put the car through a scratch machine at Tesco every blue moon right through to keen detailers like yourself. I see AG as being ideal for those who don't aspire to the levels of perfection achieved by the best detailing practices but do like to look after their car. Certainly someone who uses AG products regularly is looking after their better than 95% of car owners.

Love SRP, it just works wonders that stuff. Hides scratches and most imperfections on the clear coat really easily and leaves a smooth glossy surface. Great video. Big fan of these products. Would there be any benefit in claying the car first?
@ObsessiveCarDetailer
@ObsessiveCarDetailer 3 ай бұрын
It depends on the condition of your paintwork really. The Super Resin will mask minor swirls and scratches that may be all you need. But if you clay the car then you will undoubtedly introduce more swirls and so most times a car is clayed it undoubtedly introduces minor swirls so then given a machine polish to give the perfection that you look for. Depending on the car, if it is a daily driver then the chances are the super resin will do the trick but if you are looking for perfection the clay and machine polish will be the way to go. Hope that’s of some help. If not then you know how to contact me. Happy detailing

One more question. When should I use Super Resin Polish? Every time before Extra Gloss Protection? Only on paintwork with haze/swirls or also on healthy paintwork? Will it clean paint like cleaner products? Will putting EGP on top of SRP increase gloss or it doesn't matter?
@ObsessiveCarDetailer
@ObsessiveCarDetailer 8 ай бұрын
No need to use it every time just when you are looking to cover swirls and the I think it best to strip all protection off and then apply srp and you can then use any wax or sealant on top

I've found it is much easier to remove EGP if you leave it around 10-15 mins. Those were the instructions on the Liquid Hardwax bottle - the trade version of EGP. Also its better to remove when you spread it as thinly as you can. You don't get much dried, spent product that way.

@@ObsessiveCarDetailer Thank you for another great video. These products are less fussy about prep but to get the best from them, you need to do a decontamination of the paintwork. It all depends on what you want to achieve. If you want to remove any protection from the car then yes you will need to decontaminate the paint using a decon wash, tar remover, fallout and a panel wipe. I think where Autoglym suffers a bit is when people get into detailing, they cast aside the stuff they used from places like Halfords and get the brands from specialist sites. They won’t use Autoglym as they think of that brand as the stuff their dad uses and now they’re a detailing enthusiast use exciting SiO2 products etc from brands the average person in the street hasn’t heard of. Autoglym do some great products so it’s unfortunate. I used to use this combo on my old 1972 MGB Roadster that I had in the early 90’s (not that I’m old!)

Hello Paul, you have read my mind. I have been thinking of doing a video on bug removal. In my experience the best way to prevent dead bugs from being a problem to remove is to have good quality protection on your paintwork. So a good decon wash, remove any tar and iron fallout, wipe over with a panel wipe and then a quality sealant topped with a good quality wax and a quality QD that will act as your sacrificial layer. after every wash reapply the QD. Bugs will then be able to be removed with the wash process. Hope that of help

When washing a week later the water from the hose just hits the car and runs straight down and off, and after rain or a damp night the beads are as good as any wax but the surface is more sliker so driving at 40mph it just glids of the car taking some dust with it.
