From what I've seen and read about it is a brilliant product. Honestly, I did not get my hands on it yet, but the fact that it sort of evolved from the rapid renovator which was already a very good product (I've used it quite a lot), makes it rapid renovator on steroids if you like. @@ForensicDetailing

I've been using RR+ for a few months now, the results are impressive and on a par with Koch Chemie. I only use a DA and after speaking to Autoglym they said that its trial and error on speeds etc but so far no problem. I usually apply it a speeds one to two and then crank it up to four or five for the final polish. Ive managed to get significant scratches, overspray and defects removed without any need for flatting, it's also brilliant on gloss black pillar trims and headlight covers. I'd highly recommend it. I've used it on my own car, a sixteen year old focus, and the paints like glass. But must be honest, P2.01 is still my first choice for finishing the job off. Keep up the excellent reviews. 👍

Evening John! Would you look at RRP+ as a one step product? I love to try out new products when it comes to carcare. I see myself as an Mothers guy, sure I got products from Menzerna, Meguiars, Angelwax and so on. When it comes to Mothers, i like to go for Mothers heavy duty together with Mothers FP, will work lika a one step with realy good outcome. Have gone over to only DA-machine now, it takes abit longera sure, but i can skip The high sound from the rotary.
@ForensicDetailing6 жыл бұрын
autoglym will prolly view RRP+ as a one step yes, most of the modern abrasives Ive reviewed like FG400, h8, S3 have impressive levels of gloss now, due to the use of clever DAT engineer'd abrasive systems, and people tell me for example they use S3 as a single stage or 1 step product. but this is coming down to personal preference or what your trying to achieve or maybe what your selling a s a service. If its my car Im polishing properly a seperate refining stage is really important to me. I dont use S3 as a one stage for example, when I polish the m140 eventually I want to spend a lot of time refining it with a specfic out and out finishing polish. Same principle for RRP+ for me. but if you want to refine it more then you can go over it with RR. One thing I will say is it would be cool to have a out and out refining finish polish in their abrasive range.. something for pure refining only. At least I would want that then they have the full suit kind of.

Great vid John... Love the video shoots that are firing from the hip. I tried this once on really hard Audi S8 paintwork and whilst it was good, it didn’t do as well as the Koch Chemie. I agree with you though that it’s good stuff. For me though the Koch Chemie seemed to make mince meat of really hard clear coat. I think after watching this video I need to give it another go. 👍🏼🎄 P.S. What are your go to microfibre cutting pads and especially for extra cutting ? Would be interested to know. Plus, looking to change the rotary and thinking Rupes or the Flex model you have - any ideas ? Thanks John and hope you have a cracking Christmas!
@ForensicDetailing6 жыл бұрын
H8.02 has more cut, I think thats a given. In fact H8 is perhaps one of the highest cut of the heavy compounds Ive tried (second only to SFC101). H8 is a product I love and I will always have, it won the abrasive shoot out its absolutely superb, but its not as "idiot" proof as RR+ perhaps. put H8 on a test panel and hit it for 4 mins at 1500 and it will dust up. But thats mis-using H8 of course just to make a point you would never do what Im doing in this video when polishing a car. RR+ is closer to S3 gold in cut. Very oily and thick and really nice to use, it actually breaks down smoother than S3 you dont get that initial smearing of product over the panel when you start working it it discs ups (for want of a better word straight away).. but yer as always its not always going to be the most suitable perhaps when rockhard paintwork is involved.. good stuff though for sure. If you have a test panel do the test I did on both products and you will prolly see what I mean.

I just purchased this in kit form but the product inside was only the original RR not the RR+. I used a DA up to 5000RPM (white pad) on my Lambo...is this way too fast in your opinion?? The product spotted at times and dusted up quite quickly as you alluded to in the vid. I need to try this PLUS version next time. What speed do you recommend when using a DA for compounding??
@ForensicDetailing6 жыл бұрын
I think RR is like a formula made many years ago. RR+ is a modern formulation. Who knows maybe RR will get tweaked so it behaves the same dusting wise as RR+ would be cool. so DA speeds are not really comparable to rotary. But you dont want to run your DA at full speed. DA's theres actually a lot more energy being transferred into the pad because of the way its rubbed over the surface with the orbit in different directions. If you run them at full speed you can heat up the pads and also dry the compound out faster.. you want to back them down so you can work your polish for a good 2-3 mins (depending on the product). So typically like with 6 speeds speed 4-5 or 3500-4000 rpm I guess. then you want to just set it down and let the machine do its thing over the target area. dont foce it down on the panel just let the machine sit there and move it reasonably slowly. have a watch of the machine polishing videos , like how to polish a car with a DA on the channel marconorth.. cheer m8

@ForensicDetailing4 жыл бұрын
megs ultimate compound is a capable product. You can cut swirls with that. If your not getting the desired results Tony it may well be possible that hunting out other abrasives is not going to fix the problem. I would stick with ultimate compound and switch to scholl purples yes that will help. short sets with ultimate compound, clean pad out well. DA speed 4-5. If its rock hard paint with swirls it could take 3 sets of compounding to get a decent level of correction. very very hard to give advice when Im not there. If you want to step up abrasives go with Koch H9 or Scholl S2 shock 2 cut.

how did you get along with holograms buddy? I'm currently using my rotary and menzerna compounds and I find myself chasing holograms all the time, how does rapid renovator compare? @ForensicDetailing6 жыл бұрын
hey luke, so white cutting pad (mid range pad) black finishing. with respect to autoglym theres no enough size options in their pad range to meet what Im looking for there (at least i think) Im after a range of pads in different sizes and grades so I go for the flex polishing pad range. RR+ could you hologram with it... Im pretty sure it would be possible.. if I crank up too fast during the early phase when the high and pressure the pad into the panel more, go too slow etc.. all the things which influence heat build up.. It must be possible to hollogram with it. Hollograms though generally are not a problem for me in any way shape or form. not because Im some godlike skillz merchant.. but simple you can cut swirls on a rotary at an awesome rate with sub 900 rpms. even less... no need to crank rotaries up high really unless you really want to work with decent arm speeds and really want to hit those abrasives hard and fast and then spend more time refining.. even then its not a good idea to stress clearcoat like this to cause the buffer trails and then refine them. Yvan Lacroix put a lot of good info out on this have a watch of my "botox effect hollogram" on the channel. all the things Yvan said to me about clearcoat generally have always turned out to be true and are thing you can sort of test out and play around with...

My only issue is the amount you get. While I know it's designed to be a trade product and not for home use, I could probably do every car on the street! So it's seems to be about £45 for 1kg/1l so £4.50 per 100g/100ml. If they charged £9 for a small bottle that 100% more mark up and potentially many more sales. It even seems from your demo it's a great product for beginners but only sell it in professional sizes. :(
@ForensicDetailing6 жыл бұрын
thx gav. let me add, autoglym sell this their professional line to approved francise sellers. They dont enforce an RRP so prices vary. But the product should be around the 25-30 pound mark with the franchise sellers. some companies buy it and sell it on ebay or online for more than the franchise sellers. 45 pounds sounds a bit scorchio to me.. I agree it would be ideal to have like a 250 ml bottle of this.
@gavjlewis6 жыл бұрын
Buying off eBay is likely the way weekend enthusiast like myself will end up purchasing. I can't really see why they can't sell it in smaller packaging and call it "enthusiast" range. Either they don't know enthusiasts exist (I'm sure they do) or they think it will dilute their other product ranges. As car ownership is a decreasing market you would think if they have a good product they would push it out to market. Instead they are pushing us to other products. Anyway keep up the good work. :)
@ForensicDetailing6 жыл бұрын
@@gavjlewis trust me Ive had conversations with AG about their products lines and the detailing scene etc.. they understand "their" market better than we do. What I can say to you is the "detailing Scene" that you and I know. represents a tiny fraction of the market (a cool fraction yes, and a growing fraction but a tiny fraction) Autoglyms prime market is not just detailing hardcore guys. they supply products to tens of thousands of people each day walking in and out of halfords that have never even heard of a dual action polishers. For example if autoglym sold the equivalent of Tardis as their tar and glue remover the number of customer complaints due to not understanding the product would go up from 1 a day to 1000 a day. Thats because the mass market are not detailers and do not understand much about the product other than pointing them at the car and firing... Their retail tar remover works but it wont insta melt the tar off because its not that agressive and on ebay pre painted wings it wont melt the cheap 1k rattle can laquer that some builder used in his garage. In short AG understand really well what the mass market probably better than any entity in the country. you need to see how they roll first hand and then it all makes sense... Let me say this. I would not pay 45 quid for a bottle of this stuff also. It could raise a wider point that if the franchise sellers are selling it for around 25 quid and making a margin. Then 45 quid is like one hell of a margin.
