No update on the UHD Wax? Just found your page and really enjoy the reports.

No update yet - I did film the one month update but I haven’t put it up yet as I’m not sure I did it right. Basically, the wax was completely dead after one month - the water behaviour was completely flat. I don’t want to badmouth a good product just because I may have made a mistake so I’m planning on redoing it on a different car.

@@Jackster that’s interesting. I would have thought a product like this would last 3-4 months. But then again it depends on the environment the car is in. Do you think a machine buff would have enhanced it’s longevity, as opposed to a hand buffing..?

@@typhoontony6538 it was disappointing to see it last only a month, as all the other KZbin tests suggest it should be highly durable. There are two things I can see that might have led to this discrepancy. The first is that all the other tests on KZbin are actually chemical resistance tests and not real-world tests. UHD Wax might be highly resistant to certain chemical degreasers, but not as resistant to all the stuff it gets hit with when sitting outside all day. The other thing that might have dented its performance is that I used it on top of Super Resin Polish rather than on bare paint. Autoglym suggests that this should be OK, but next time I do this test I'm going to wipe the panel down with CarPro Eraser before applying the wax just to see if that makes a difference. I don't think machine buffing would make a difference. Using a machine definitely gives better results when compounding and polishing, but I've not heard anyone say it gives better results when waxing - only that it can make the waxing process faster. I'm definitely open to being proved wrong on that, though!

Hey Tony, I decided to put a video together from the footage I took during the UHD Wax test. It's on the channel, have a look and let me know what you think!

@@Jackster Wondering if you cleaned the car properly in that month? All LSP's lose their water repelling properties when covered in road grime. Ive used various hard waxes including UHD wax and you'll get a few months no problem if applied to clean paint. They also come 'back to life' after each clean.

Great review. Thank you. Could you use Ultra Deep Shine under this wax?
@Jackster4 жыл бұрын
Probably not - Autoglym's website generally recommends that Ultra Deep Shine be used as a standalone for some reason.

@@Jackster thank you.

It would be good to see you use products on cars that are not immaculate to begin with so we can actually see a difference. If you need a dirty, stonchipped and heavily blemished car in Glasgow I'll kindly volunteer ;) I even stay closeby.

Haha, once they lift the lockdown drop me a message and let's do it!

@@Jackster I'm definitely up for it - my car passed 123,456 miles at the beginning of lockdown and from a distance it polishes up nicely but up close the mileage makes itself painfully clear. Currently saving for a full respray/repair so in the meantime I'm keen to keep it looking good - @alfabreras on Instagram if you're interested.

Nice car! Why the respray?

@@Jackster Like I said, 123k miles and 12 years have taken their toll. Serious road rash all along the sills, rear arches, front bumper and bonnet. A couple of nasty dings from neighbours doors and parking which comes with Shawlands living and some bubbling starting to show through on the arches - a couple of rust spots starting to become visible. Was originally planning on spot fixing these issues but thought that might be risky with colour match on a 12 year old red car, plus there's so many spots it may as well get a thorough job. It was all set to be done this summer but my pay has been impacted by the pandemic so on hold for now sadly.
@Jackster4 жыл бұрын
That sucks about the pay situation. Have you thought about where you're getting it resprayed when you do get round to it? I had part of my old Astra resprayed by a guy in Rutherglen who did a great job at a really good price - let me know if you want his info.
