Thanks to your video I'm now looking for a Terraclean dealer in France. If you ever need ideas for a future video, I would be glad to hear your advise on how to properly take care of our modern cars. I consider a typical service of the car way under the needs ( most of them are equiped with PCV, EGR, navigation systems etc). I'm not a mechanic at all and I would be glad to be given a list of tasks to take care of all that in addition to the regular sevice ( for example Terraclean service every ... miles, cleaning the turbo air intake every ... miles etc...). you can get different versions of service from terra clean depending on if you've s diesel or petrol engine car. with modern petrol engine cars "especially those moving to direct injection" your biggest issue is carbon build-up on the intake valves (over the counter cleaners are a waste of money for this & fuel additives don't touch the areas required) Terra-clean do a service for direct injection engines which cleans the intake system & addresses the intake valve carbon build-up, however most car manufacturers oddly don't inform customers of this issue (overall it leads to poor engine running, Higher fuel consumption & sooner the old engines it leads to your engine failing) the carbon build-up on the intake valves is usually down to oil found in the cars breather system (by design) you can fit oil catch cans to the intake breather system to reduce this issue (its NOT a overall fix but will dramatically reduce oil getting to the intake valves & intake canals. simplest suggestion would be if you have direct injection, get the appropriate engine clean service (save money by not buying over the counter products) clean your engine & then every 10-20K miles get the service again... lots of garages can have this engine cleaning service "you'll need to check local garages" also for direct injection engines, you can also have a walnut blast which also cleans the intake valves however it doesn't hit the area the intake valve seats which also get carbon build-up... that's the part which gives poor idle as the valves cant sit flush allowing poor combustion. also.. side note regular services don't touch the areas needed... fuel filter, spark plugs & coils, filters etc including brake pads & wiper blades etc etc eventually the fuel filter & oils etc people need to realise proper servicing is a lot more involving you asked about average cleaning etc overall it depends on your car & mileage you do

I have a Lexus is220d and they are notorious for carbon build up. After doing this, there was no carbon on the EGR and in the manifold when I checked it after. On an emissions test, there was almost no hydrocarbons.

put an analyser into the exhaust before and after and you can see it works, it can make the difference of an mot failure and pass. seen it in use

yes it can be used on direct injection engines.. however to clean the intake valves you need the intake cleaning service & not the fuel injection cleaning service or you can opt for walnut blasting which also cleans the intake valves.

What is the name and model of the decarbon machine

This method was figured on Wheeler Dealer and appears legit, as they showed the emissions test results before and after. I have my Zed booked for April after my dyno run.

+Pete 88 No not really, as my ZR was regularly serviced by myself and I used Wynns full fuel cleaner with every service and I always run on Nitro 99 shell fuel. The treatment above is good for cars that don't get regularly serviced this way.

+Pete 88 just to note, I regularly stripped my engine to drop high lift cams in and I checked the injectors and they were cleaned with no build up same goes with the inlet and exhaust ports

I'm looking to have this done on a 20+ year old mx5 mk1 import. Never been stripped so would be interesting to see the results too wouldnt it. Heavy build up on all the cylinder heads so my guess the rest of the internals are pretty caked over the years. Thanks for the informative reply mate

+Pete 88 then certainly you should see a good result then. I know Terraclean is one of the most leading companies to do this type of clean. Just to note this only does the fuel system. With oil changes I suggest wynns flush with every oil change.

I wonder has anyone ever stripped down an engine after running this process in order to check if the carbon buildup has actually been removed, as claimed?

You mean aliphatic? Aliphatic molecules are straight chain carbon molecules as opposed to aromatic which are cyclic carbon molecules

I used terraclean and it made no difference, so i used a injector cleaner (Wynns) and worked straight away....

I've seen the proof I owm a carbon cleaning company, I do the walnut blasting method, lot of people come to me after hydro cleaning, hydro cleaning doesnt clean 1% of carbon, the only methode that works is walnut blasting, you see the carbon and you clean it, the rest of cleaners that you can't see the results they dont work...
