I used this method with a coconut conditioner and mothers VLR. The seats look brand new and now my car has a new car smell. People are surprised when I tell them my car is 5 years old. I've used a bunch of your methods and my friends think I get my car detailed every week because it still looks new from the outside and inside.

my gf is riding horses, so we use saddlesoap and leather conditioner soft wax that you can get from the horse equipment stores for dirt cheap. It works great on real leather, never used it on vinyl though. What I totally agree with is, that you have to rub it in and let it set a few hours or even days in the sun. The leather soaks up insane amounts of conditioner and stays silky soft forever. No wrinkles, no scratches. The Merc has hit almost 300k and the leather still looks, feels and even smells like brand spanking new.

Great video. I recently did a lot of research on this since my Eclipse GSX is the first car I've had with leather seats and I'm trying to restore it. I discovered that people spend way too much money and worry on cleaning leather. Apparently even pros use simple cleaners and pretty much any conditioner works. Not that there aren't better and worse products, but they even use plain diluted degreaser like Meguiar's or Purple Power and a scrub brush for dirty leather, then any conditioner just as you described. The coconut milk shampoo is an awesome trick though! Cheap, cleans, and nourishes! I also appreciate that you actually say to leave it on for a bit and only wipe off lightly. When people put it on and scrub it off immediately, there's basically no point. Thanks for another good one!

Thank you for the great video. I modified your procedure slightly by diluting the shampoo with a little warm water and applying with a horse hair brush. I then rubbed off the excess with a slightly damp microfiber towel. I found out that the coconut shampoo is a great, all-purpose cleaner as well as it not only removed the dirt from the stitching area in the leather, it also removed some of the skuff marks and dirt embedded into the vinyl trim. (without having to use the Magic Eraser pad.) No more 20 dollar store bought cleaners for me. I am sticking with the 5 dollar bottle of Coconut Milk Shampoo. I followed the cleaning by applying sparingly and rubbing in well some of the 303 as conditioner. My seats are now as soft and clean as a baby's bottom after a diaper change. Sweet Project continues to be my go-to You tube channel for all of my detailing questions. I am not sure of your name, but whoever you are, thanks and keep up the great, money saving suggestions. I cant thank you enough for these tips I would never think to use, I used the paint / laquor thinner trick first then cleaned and conditioned my seats with these steps.. They are much softer, With the car being a convertible the rear headrests have been beaten with sun since 1995 and have become hard as a rock.. I lathered them good with the coconut conditioner and left lots of excess globbed on ( they were clean already ) I then wrapped them in plastic bags tight and left them in the garage for 3 days... Removed and cleaned and then applied lexol, They are 100x softer than they began.. They were like plastic and now they are much softer thanks again.

I did this two days ago. Seats look perfect! Thank you. I bought the same coconut milk shampoo at Walmart for about 5 bucks. Also noticed that they have a coconut milk conditioner, too. Would that be a better choice? On another topic, I noticed someone scratched my door today. Right through clear coat. Could you maybe make a video on how to properly using touch up paint? Body shop wants 1100 says they have to paint both doors for a little scratch that is maybe a half inch long.

First of all, let me just say that I've spent hours learning with you! Wonderful stuff, years of deep knowledge explained in a very practical and concise way. Thank you so much. I've searched your videos on how to maintain the dashboard and found an excellent one. Still, what do I do when the dashboard gets sticky and soft to the touch (Lexus IS 220d year 2006) with heat? I,ve read that that's the result of years of UV exposer and the oils were broken down. How do I clean and protect it? Kind regards from Portugal
@SweetProjectCars6 жыл бұрын
Francisco Sousa we use this on a towel amzn.to/2zQhnwO and you keep wiping until the stickiness is gone, just dont spray it on the dash directly and wear gloves then use this amzn.to/2zTBRms to bring it back to life ad protect it from UV
@FranciscoSousaPT6 жыл бұрын
Sweet Project Cars thank you, the 303 I've already ordered but the Super Clean I fear that it may "eat" on the dashboard surface, something that I really don't want (it's not deformed just lightly sticky and soft to the touch). I was thinking of applying Krylon 53530 Flat Acrylic Crystal Clear and, when dry, the 303. What are your thoughts? Again, thank you so much for taking the time to pass on your experience. Kind regards
@SweetProjectCars6 жыл бұрын
Francisco Sousa it will not eat your dash, my friend..mix it 50/50 with water and try that then mix stronger if needed...it is the only thing we have found to remove the deterioration you are talking about also once you clean the dash try the 303 afterward you may really like the results :)

Yes the Guy From Dallas but he also mentioned most leather seats have a plastic like coding and most of your cars have that. But always double check. I think that's when the staining can occur is when the leather is NOT, coded! But either way, always start off as gentle as possible and slowly move your way up as seen fit. Sometimes Evan your apc can sometimes create discoloration. I want tooom more into the coconut thing. Perhaps raw coconut oil would be a thing too than ??? Aww more to seek.

Hi! Love the video and the idea. Can't wait to try it out. Just bought a new car and was looking for method to treat the new leather to make it last. I love the coconut for that. I noticed that that brand also makes a CONDITIONER. Would just a conditioner be better to use than a shampoo...???
@SweetProjectCars6 жыл бұрын
Ted E. Bair you want the shampoo my friend it removes the dirt gently and keeps the leather pores open for the 303 or Lexol to soak in

Awesome! Thanks for your response, the tip and for all that you do. I can't wait to try it. Happy detailing!!!! Best regards!

What can I use to TIGHTEN the wrinkles in my leather?? Like the the wrinkles in the top of the seat your derailing? Thank you
@SweetProjectCars4 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry I don't know of any method to fix that, leather does what it does, some wrinkle more than others just depends on the quality of the leather. Thanks Jami for the question. Have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC

So just so I’m understanding this correctly, we’re massaging, conditioning and moisturizing the plastic coating that covers the leather in our car right? I mean what were really dealing with is the plastic coating (clear coat) on our leather... correct? It’s nothing like we’re dealing with as if we were dealing with my cowboy boot leather

What the difference between the shampoo and the conditioner? Have you tried the conditioner? I figured that would be softer than the shampoo.

there is no cleaning ability with the conditioner that's why we use the Shampoo...thanks much SPC Mike

Awesome video! I'm getting a new car with all leather seats, and wondered if this simple process would keep my seats looking and feeling like new for years to come? Also, I know the sun plays a big part in the deterioration of leather and plastic in vehicles. Do you think it is a good idea to not only get the windows tinted (thinking 15%, maybe 20%), but to put a sun shade in the front window when I leave the car in the sun for extended periods of time? Thank you for your feedback.
@SweetProjectCars5 жыл бұрын
Wayne Pile yes this will keep them looking new for years and years and we tint all our own personal cars for that exact reason we do 5% on all the rear glass and 15% on the front drivers and passenger windows and it looks great and works perfectly
@waynepile50845 жыл бұрын
@@SweetProjectCars thank you for your feedback. I'll definitely be looking into tinting my windows soon after I get it.
@Hattonbank3 жыл бұрын
All car windscreens are tinted when fitted to cut down in glare. There is a legal limit as to how much tint they can add because it can impair visibility if overdone It is more common to have heavier tint on side and rear windows Be careful about doing any windscreen tinting with aftermarket products

Ok, one last question until you post up another video, is there a liquid car wax that both can be put on in direct sunlight AND doesn't turn your black trim white? I've tried to do research and the ones I've found do one or the other but not both. My house doesn't offer any shade whatsoever in the driveway where I was the cars. Thank you for your time, much appreciated.

Wow! A shampoo! That's amazing! You said we just need to use this product to clean the leather seat few times a year, is that mean we can't do this with this product every time we want to clean the leather seat? I would like to clean my car's leather seat every time I wash my car like every 1 or 2 weeks.

you can clean them daily if you like without harming them using coconut milk shampoo
