We should also be carefull while draging the pivot table fields to the value area, change the value fields to sum instead of count. Sometimes excel by default brings the value fields as count, and you might see 1,1,1,1,2,2,2,2, and the column titles on the pivot table reading to count of Debit or count of Credit. We use the drop down arrow to change value field settings to sum.
