Automated labeling and palletizing
This palletizing system is designed to process pallets of unmarked boxes of frozen food from warehouse to customer. After the customer receives an order, a pallet of unmarked boxes are depalletized onto a conveyor by a FANUC M-410iC/315 robot.
A programmable bump turner is coordinated with a Hytrol E24 zoned conveyor to depalletize cases to the conveyor and send them to a downstream labeler.
Labeled boxes then travel to a repalletizing station where they are stacked onto an awaiting pallet, wrapped and conveyed to the end of the system.
This system is capable of handling 20 to 40 lb. RSC taped boxes. Palletizing and depalletizing is handled by a FANUC M-410iC/315 robot equipped with a custom end-of-arm-tool (EOAT).
Multiple sensors on the EOAT automatically detect and handle varying case heights, different layer configurations and partial layers.
The EOAT is comprised of vacuum cup technology with compliance to handle uneven case height variations and slip sheets.
Previously, the operation required four workers to perform the tasks in a cold environment. Multiple back claims and lost time resulted in difficulty maintaining enough labor to keep the system moving.
With the automated system in place, labor shortages are no longer a concern, and productivity is steady at processing 15 cases per minute.
The system also has the ability to change out pallet types to meet customer needs that require different types of pallets. To accomplish this, two pallet magazines were integrated into the system to collect and dispense pallets.
