🔥🔥WATCH NEXT: Davinci Resolve 16 Color Grading For Beginners - kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3axen9qg5yXeqs

I think a great addition to auto color would be to have the tools set to where auto color is making the adjustments. If you use the White balance tool and click on something white on the screen, the temperature and tint change accordingly. If Auto would show people what was done, it would help people learn and I haven't tried it but doubt that you can save that into a LUT - but haven't tested that. It may create a LUT that works in Resolve but maybe not other NLEs, cameras etc. Glad you told people to pick a frame to autocolor - first time I tried it, I thought that it analyzed the whole clip as well. Thanks Jay.

YES! I actually meant to put something about that in the script. I would love to see the changes in the tools.

Hi Jay, what a great tutorial. I tested it the other way round: added one more node at the end of a complex grading tree - just for fun - and the results are great!

I’ve used it (on 16) as I really don’t yet know enough about grading properly (used to photos not videos) and it sometimes makes some weird changes that I have to adjust...but it does work. I didn’t know the part about it not adjusting all the frames just one for all, thanks for that! :)

the only times i've changed the color of clips, i used the auto button. i'm not a colorist, having a "easy button" is great. I actually forgot about it and need to start using it more often :) I mostly deal with dark clips and i think this would help.

I'm definitely going to be checking out Autocolor! But also keep doing all my manual adjustments since I'm still learning coloring. Nice touch with the color passport in the background!

How to know if colour is done good for 70 mm screen ???
@Weapon-lt1nj9 ай бұрын
So it sounds like it’s auto corrects everything at once based on one frame. If you break up your clips would it only correct the one clip selected?

Wow. Let me explain why this is SO perfect for me: I am a musician and music content creator, NOT a video maker, lol. And I just invested in my dream "buy once, cry once" camera, the Blackmagic 6k Pro. Only thing: I've spent my life learnings instrument and music production software, not cameras and color editing heh. So, maybe a lot of video pros would scoff at automatic color correction, but for me it's going to be a GODSEND because I feel like an absolute idiot and this stuff takes F O R E V E R. Let's me produce better video content in less time and go back to my main love - producing music. Thanks for this training, it's the most info in the shortest time!!! Edit, subbed!

I tried the auto color on an entire scene, and what I got was a very inconsistent color grade. Maybe it's because I'm a noob, but there were several shots that either looked brighter than others (especially with close-ups, as you mentioned) and others that came with a different tint (one shot turned out blue while the scene in question is supposed to be gray). I don't know. To me, it seems like a lazy way to grade your colors when doing it manually looks more consistent. I know doing it manually can be a pain in the neck, but at least I know what I want.
@JayLippman3 жыл бұрын
Yeah manual is always best, especially in a video with multiple different shots.
@DarrylGold11 ай бұрын
See! this is why I can't use autocorrect. It just corrects one frame in a whole scene and you can't see what settings it used so you can't use them elsewhere. @@JayLippman

When you say you need a powerful computer to run Davinci Resolve 17, does that mean that essentially Davinci Resolve 17 is going to be EVEN MORE CPU intensive (and GPU intensive) than Davinci Resolve 16? Or would it be just about the same? Just for some background, the laptop I work on has 24GB or RAM and a 1TB SSD. The only weak point is the core i3 CPU and the intel graphics 520 perhaps, but I also do use optimized media to run things smoother. That said, is Davinci Resolve really going to start banging the laptop to work even harder or will it be just about the same??
@JayLippman3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know the minimum system requirements are about the same as 16, but even with those minimum requirements Resolve can still struggle. Your GPU and older processor might cause some problems, but you should be good on RAM as long as you don't do too much in Fusion.
@AboveandBeyondGlobalDrones3 жыл бұрын
An i7/32 Ram/gtx 1060 handles 4k, for now. Will be upgrading soon though to better handle Fusion comps.
@theelectronomer23193 жыл бұрын
@@AboveandBeyondGlobalDrones sounds quite good! Funny thing is, it's not only "gaming" and things like that which are apparently cpu and gpu intensive, but editing is another thing that needs that kind of power... (from a computer/laptop.) Not to mention I don't even have a NVIDIA GPU, but an intel 520... XD It still comes to a surprise though that I'm running my channel on an i3... not bad! I still DO need optimized media though or else I'm pretty much toast. It's too much for this poor laptop that has done so much for me.

Do i understand you right if i use autocolor I do not need to white balance?

@ARNABOSS3 жыл бұрын
i call it the auto correct button because it does exactly that but not for a word processor, but a NLE now as for justiication, big companies are bragging about using AIs and bots in every step of production pipeline these days so i dont think individual creators should shy away from doing the same if the situation calls for that kind of quick automated intervention
@JayLippman3 жыл бұрын

where does autocolor store it's settings? I can't find them.
@JayLippman11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure I understand the question. A u to color doesn't store settings. It analyzes footage and makes adjustments based on the current frame. Any adjustment to the final result needs to be made on additional nodes.
@DarrylGold11 ай бұрын
So if you go to a second frame it's using the settings from the first frame. If you set the auto for the second frame and scroll back to the first frame the settings will be different. There's no way of knowing which setting davinci used on the first frame or the second frame. @@JayLippman
