If you increase the radius of the tower by 1, you wont have spiders getting caught on the middle glass layer.

I like this build. Functional but presentable. The idea of molding an ocean tower around it is cool, too. And, of course, if one were so inclined, they could excavate an area for a sorting and storage system, all covered by a shell of an island.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR BEDROCK PLAYERS: If you invert the dispensers and observers, it should work for you as well! If the observer is on the level of the floor (facing up) and the dispenser is facing down stuck to the back of the observer, it should distribute the water. The redstone clock also worjs as shown! @@alanthon5703 Dispenser facing down to add water source block on each level, Observer facing upwards towards the water source block. I find out that a dispenser may trigger multiple times as the observer detects multiple changes in water level {water on, water off, water level in the middle} after the water source block is turned off. A trick to counter the multiple triggering is to add a lower half slab (waterlogged) at the water source on each layer. This makes the observer to detect either {water on, water off} only. In short, from up to down, repeater->observer facing up->dispenser facing down->bottom half slab (water source)->observer facing up->...

I'm attempting to build this rn in my world! Thank you for putting out such a slender design, all things considered for a mob farm. It really lends itself to getting a shell of architecture nicely, very customizable. I'm doing mine a few levels higher and turning it into a Japanese Pagoda building. This'll be one of those farms where the form is gonna be harder to pull off than the function lol

Okay so this design didn't work for me, the dispenser doesn't interact with a repeater on top of it, even if the repeater has a signal. The observers also don't seem to send a signal to the dispensers since they're a block apart, it doesn't seem like this design works for me at all. Do you have any ideas why?

@@twitch2112 I've since learned that it's because I've been playing on Bedrock. I knew that I was, I just didn't think the differences between Java and Bedrock were so numerous. If you're having trouble too I would double check which version you have, cause I've also switched to designs made for Bedrock and they've all worked, so I'm sure that was the issue

On bedrock you can place scaffolding on the spawn layers and water on top of it

I believe you'll get better rates if you alternate the water on the floors. So when the water is flooding floors 1 3 5 7 and 9, 2 4 6 8 and 10 can have mobs spawning.

I'd have to rewatch the video to see what his redstone looks like, but typically in ones that alternate the water on the floors they use torch towers to activate the dispensers. This will turn every other floor on/off at the same time.

Yeah. Instead of observers in the center you'd have the torch tower. You can search on Google for a tutorial and look for one that has a torch tower if need be. Then put that design inside this masterpiece.

I'm using hopper clock and it increases loot for me also make sure you don't have any cave under the mob farm bic when you're afk it would decrease your mob spawn or you can find you spawn point and last tip if you having problem or maybe crash that bic you have to make some light next to red stone clock if you don't do that red stone will send massage of increasing the light and decrease and game do having so much command will crush or cause problem like fps significant drop and More

Thanks! It doesn't need to be an ocean biome. That's just the most convenient one because you don't need to light up the surface around the farm to prevent mob spawns outside of the tower. Hope that helps! Cheers.

You should include the anti-spider configuration for each slab level. Spiders will just climb around the walls inside the build, wasting spawn limit space since they rarely wash out and be killable. You'll still get creepers, witches, zombies, and skeletons.

Really beautifull build. Would be great if you could upload the schematic for it! I was wondering though, if you build it on land and made an afk platform 128 blocks from the bottom, that would solve the problem of mobs spawning outside the farm right? You wouldnt need an ocean to build it in. Also, if you afk next to the chests at the bottom, you would still need to spawn proof any caves that are underneath the ocean right?

Just a quick question. But first, I must say I love your builds and detailed tutorials. I built this mob farm following your instructions and it is working but mobs spawn quite slowly. The only difference is I built it in Survival mode and wasn't able to find soul sand in the nether, so I made normal campfires. Is soul sand better for this build?

The soul campfires kill the mobs faster. You might want to create an afk spot above the farm. Maybe mobs spawn in caves below your farm?

I went back to the dreaded Nether, and this time found some soul sand, made the soul sand campfires, and then built the AFK 80 blocks above the farm. After spending a minecraft night in the afk, I found each of the three double chests over half full of arrows, string, bones and gun powder. Wow does this thing work great now.

Sure! Do note that spawning mechanics for mobs work a little bit different in Bedrock compared to Java. You might need a different afk spot (next to the farm rather than above it if I'm not mistaken)

Hi, was planning on building this farm on a server. Just one question, how much of an issue is the spiders getting stuck on the glass? Does this happen the majority of the time? In other words how much string do you still get

It happens, ususally around 4 or 5 stay there, but a lot of them fall down as well.

At Y level 180 is a solid spot. Mobs spawn in a radius of 128 blocks around the player. So you need to stay within 128 blocks of the soul campfires.

Yea you will need tinted glass. Mobs only spawn in a light level of 0. Regular glass will let the light from outside into the farm. It will then only work at nighttime.

I finished setting up the farm, but the redstone circuit stops right over the dispenser and it isn't working. All the comparators are set to 4 ticks, is there something I did wrong and how can I fix it? Thanks for this beautiful and useful build!

I'd suggest an afk spot above the farm depending on the height of your output chests. Mobs despawn when they are more then 128 blocks away from you as the player (in all directions, so inagine a sphere around you). Therefore, if the chests are at let's say Y level 70, then I would build the afk spot at Y level 190. This is 120 blocks away, well within the spawn range for the farm but hardly any other spots for mobs to spawn (if build in an ocean). Does this help?

If I dont put the campires and modify the chests a bit, would it also work as an xp farm? I dont need it to be super effective. Maybe I would just need to pull it up? Make the tower taller?

You can defintely use it as an xp farm, reppace the campfires for slabs and perhaps use spme trapdoors to narrow the gap. Then swing away with your sword! No need for a taller tower I think, but you can!

I made this using stained glass like you did but there are no mobs falling. There’s maybe been like 20 things spawn total. I replaced the glass with stone and now it’s working like it did in your video. Is there a specific glass you have to use - I used black stained glass full blocks

If you find a fix, let us know! I usually fly away out of range for them to despawn and then return to the afk platform. They will despawn after a while anyway.

Hm, is this still an issue? Sounds like the signal isn't travelling through the line. Or did you perhaps use droppers rather than dispensers?

Those might come from Vanillatweaks. Also in the shader settings there is a tab for 3D textures I believe.

In the latest Java prerelease 2 I'm not getting any mobs spawning, even at night as I have yet to build around it. I've check for caves but there are none. I've built it off shore from a village though. Is there a minimum distance it needs to be away? It's about 8 or 10 chunks away from the edge of the village.

Hm that's unfortunate. The village should not be an issue, but maybe something is wrong in the Prerelease? Did you build the platforms with slabs? If so, did you place the slabs on the top half of the block? If they are on the lower half then they're non spawnable. You also need to be 23 blocks away from the platforms, as mobs don't spawn closer than that to you. Finally, I'd suggest you make an afk spot above the farm around Y level 128. Does this help?

I may build a temporary structure around the spawning platforms and try that. Hopefully I can get it working. Normal glass would make the farm not work during the day. It needs a light level of 0 to spawn mobs.

No, the more layers the more mobs/drops you get! 1 layer is in theory enough, but you won't get much out of it per hour.

Yes it should, although it will be less efficient if you are not on the same location as other players that are online. It works best if you afk at it whilst you are alone on the server.

Somewhere on top of the farm. About 120 blocks above your killing platform you should get the optimal rates. Does that help?

Turns out if you invert the observer and dispenser (so the observer is facing up, flush with the floor above and the dispenser is pointing down, flush up against the butt of the observer) it does work on bedrock. Your can even use the redstone clock as is.

This is happening to me. The dispensers on the lower levels get triggered multiple times and out of sync with the rest, hurting the spawn rates.

I want this farm so bad but I’m on bedrock and the system isn’t working. I need an alternative, too bad 😢.. I really love this build!! My biggest complaint about Minecraft at all, is the vast differences between Java and bedrock.. but I’m going to subscribe in HOPES that you make a very similar system for bedrock.. come to the dark side lmfao 😂

I don't think so I'm afraid, might need some tweaking. You could search for a mcpe mob farm and build this around it.
