19:40 - Installing the the guides. Thank you for this video. It helped me in replacing the broken plastic guides on my pool cover. Can't believe how expensive these things are!!

Thanks very much for this helpful video. I replaced my own cover following your example and using the suppliers you suggested. Saved a few thousand dollars. One important thing that needs to be added: the magnets that go into the webbing to control the motor have to be installed with the correct polarity. I had one of my magnets upside down and the cover didn't operate correctly. I suggest trying it out a few times before installing the magnets in the cover fabric to understand which way they need to be oriented (i.e., lines on the magnet facing toward the sensor or facing away). Have someone operate the cover while you experiment with passing the magnets over the sensor. For my cover, the lines on the magnet need to face toward the sensor to stop the motor after the cover is closed, and the lines on the magnet need to face away from the sensor to stop the cover after it's open.

Where did you buy new ropes and cover? What type of rope will work here?
@719matt37966 жыл бұрын
So when you secured your cover to the reel with all the extra slack in the fabric did it mess with the timing of the ropes when you opened your cover back up? I'm thinking while it rolled the extra fabric up the ropes would have been coming off the reel
@fixyourgps6 жыл бұрын
The ropes only come off the reel when the cover moves. I don't remember if I had to roll up the slack manually by hand. It must not have been a big deal or I would have remembered.
@fixyourgps6 жыл бұрын
That's right the rope isn't going to come off the spools until all the slack is pulled out of the cover, so to answer you question; no it won't mess up the timing.

How large is your pool- we moved into a home with a cover start buy out installed- coverstar and latham will not service teh unit but it is blatantly one of the smaller companies they bought out- and we cannot find a servicing agent and are looking and researching to do the replacement ourselves- ours is an under mount but it appears to work the same and I was wondering about the dimensions of your pool compared to your rope length and cover size. The current cover appears to be quiet a bit too long in places and someone replaced one rope with laundry line that stretches. We love the cover Idea with two small rodent dogs and kids, but not if it isn't done right.

Amanda Civiello The pool is 18 x 43 ft
@fixyourgps6 жыл бұрын
It’s 18 x 43. The cover manufacturer will adjust the actual size of the fabric when you order.

The links to where I bought the cover and parts are already listed in the initial posting of this video. Btw this cover is still good and trouble free since the installation video.

You did this in probably the most difficult way possible. you could have saved yourself a lot of time and hassle. Should have started with the cover open and removed the guides and pulled the leading edge out of the track at the cover box.could have also avoided pulling out the track and having to put it back in.

@@fixyourgpsPerhaps you could help me. I have a Cover Pools cover and the slide stops at one point in the track. Is there a screw in there that could be partially out and hitting the slider?
@fixyourgps4 жыл бұрын
There are no screws in my track. Check that the sliders aren't worn out. The cover is retracting evenly and not askew. The self locking bolt that hold the slider bracket should allow the slider some freeplay. to account for any variance in the rail parallel.

@@fixyourgps Thanks for your reply. BTW, the noise on your video seemed to be wind noise. Otherwise good job.

I used wire instead of sewing thread to join my two ropes and it worked really well I didn't have to take apart the pulley at the distant end. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXfZmaWqbq9jjdEsi=uq7iqaqsBjcT3b9z

We have a video we would like to share with you. Can we have your email? We took a video showing a great way to connect the ropes and feed the new rope through the track. Looking forward to sharing it with you to help others. You can email me at TWoodford@woodfordbros.com for the video.
