I would replace the fan with faster compressed air to vent the chamber. Reminds me of the ww2 battle ship cannons venting after firing.

This is the famous flak cannon Germans used to destroy Soviet tanks?
@colemanchristy27707 жыл бұрын
Yes. This can easily go through several inches of armor, enough to destroy some tanks.

@MrChrille2k lol starter gas. i think the term is starter fluid. ps you're still an amature. use mapp gass or propane for a measureable amount of gas to be more exact. ad a chamber fan for when its cold outside.

i had a similar idea, involving 2 inch PVC shells, and an action resembling a modified semi automatc shotgun action (it would be ful, but to cut down on machining...) and a 5 shot mag. as for a firing pin, ide use a spark plug, and put the magnetos on the bolt...the shells would be 6 inch lengths of PVC, with a potato in the front, and gasoline vapors in the back (maby 17:1) held in by foil, the spark plug would puncture the foil, fire, eject the shell, and the spring would load the next shell

This is awesome how hard are the electronics I'm new to that stuff what program do u use to run this
@pauljs759 жыл бұрын
You could make this a lot faster if you removed the cutting piston from the gun. Instead have the spuds pre-pressed like that into "cartridges" made of tubing sections. Because then the cartridge would always fit perfectly for fast feed, and the slow process of loading the cartridges as ammo would be separate from the actual firing of the spud gun. If you design cartridges as a tube long enough so the potato is only filling half, you could add fuel at a step in the magazine before chambering. Burnt fuel gasses would be contained and removed with the spent cartridge. Then it's just a matter of cartridge feed and ejection of spent cartridges. How fast you can go would only be limited by how fast you can do that without jamming.
@WackyBroProductions8 жыл бұрын
+pauljs75 I thought of something like this but the propellant would need to be something other than hairspray because hairspray must be freshly mixed.
@pauljs758 жыл бұрын
If it's fast enough (as in less than a second immediately before chambering), I don't see why it wouldn't work. Maybe a metered charge of propane or something like a spray of ethanol would be better for the quantity though. The point of the cartridge idea is that it should eliminate a whole lot of problems with fast-firing due to loading and variation. Look at the "real" firearms and how no practical machine guns existed before that idea was implemented.

needs a better intake before anything else. That fan setup is way too bulky and time consuming. You could be premixing air and fuel.

Engineering question: are those "potatoes" pre-cut or pre-shaved or pre-treated in any way?
@MrChrille2k7 жыл бұрын
They are actually golf balls :)
@DreadMerlot7 жыл бұрын
That answer makes me depressed, and at the same time inspired. A design which integrates and auto-conditions raw potatoes would be closer to the dream.

If you had an oxygen tank and hairspray both feeding the chamber at the same time you would not have to use the fan to feed new oxygen and it would shoot quicker
@thewhitesheep41563 жыл бұрын
You also need to get rid of the carbon monoxide after each shot
@thelongranger553 жыл бұрын
@@thewhitesheep4156 that’s why I said what I said , you purge the system with the oxygen / hairspray mix pushing out all the old air from last combustion , just like a combustion engine sucks in new air fuel
@thewhitesheep41563 жыл бұрын
@@thelongranger55 i just thought a chamber fan would make it alot faster
