The manual says to fill via the dipstick hole. It also cautions about unbolting the 3rd shift band to fill, which can cause some internal parts to come loose and need reassembly.

Thanks for a straightforward Video on how to change the auto transmission fluid on a 2003 Saturn Ion. There are so many people posting you can't check/change the fluid without it being way too complicated than this. You can and you show its not complicated.

My car is an 06 ion 2.4, i was wondering if there is a filter that has to be changed as well with the fluid like some other vehicles or is it all inclosed?

Thank you for the informative film. It is impressive mileage on that car. How often did you change the fluid in it before? I've heard that if the car has a lot of miles, it might start to have problems after that procedure. On one car we have (2001 Saturn SL2) it is ~130K. I want to change the transaxle fluid, but have some doubts, since it was never changed before.

My saturn 2003 has 195k miles never changed the oil in the automatic transmission , what do you recommend me to do ? Since some of you say I better not change it because it could damage it.

is it the 4 speed or the 5 speed? i have 04 ion and same dipstick. not sure if i have 5 or 4 speed

Its so stupid that my 2007 ion 2 I just purchased has no dip stick in the engine bay. SMH
