Does anyone know how to repair or replace the lid w the sensor? Or what battery works best with it? Mine died the same day after replacing the battery and I’m not sure if it’s a battery issue or defective device.

The hole is probably for the air, so it could move out/in when the bin is opening/closing.

Mine lasted a while. I didn't really go through a lot of batteries either. But, about a month ago, the motor just completely died. Replaced the batteries, tried to reset, and nothing! I read other complaints about this same trash can. I love the look of it. The price was reasonable. Now, I have a trash can that has a lid that's up all the time. 😢 I know Costco will take returns, but I hate taking something back that I've had for a year. It just seems wrong to me. 😉

i have had this garbage can for the past 4 years and LOVE it. We just recently washed the lid and accidently got it too wet :( Do you happen to know the exact brand name or know if I can order a new lid to replace the broken one?

I bought mine at Costco to the lid is already broken. The lights just flash and it does nothing. Lasted about 4 months, not a very good product.

Mine have not lasted more than a month at a time. Connecting it to an alternative power source to remove battery usage, period. Otherwise, it is a nice can.

I Have To Run ...If you have an alternate power source, then you don’t have this one. Mines too so far has lasted over a month. So far 8 months and I don’t see any hesitation indicating a battery change is soon.

@@jonrubio2993 The alternate power source I was referring to, would be the inclusion of a 9v DC power adapter connected directly to the battery terminals via solder or alligator clips. The model that I have does not have the "alternative" power source option, so I am making one.

Jon Rubio It’s actually a very common problem with this trash can. Mine is having the same problems. If you go looking at other videos or other sites you’ll see that it happens to a lot of people after about a year of owning the thing. I found a whole reddit page dedicated to the topic.

i have buy this, may i ask you ['O' position, the unit is in manual mode. in this mode, the sensor is deactivated. the unit can only be operated manually. the operating functions for both modes are as follow], but i try O position the sense can't work, you are, too ?

Rorence Chen : “I” Auto Mode: lid will open when you wave your hand in front of it. It will also open and close when you press the open and close buttons. “0” Manual-Only mode: lid ignores sensor input, and can only be operated by pressing the open and close buttons. On the bottom of the lid: there are two switches: Power On/Off, and Mode selection.

MIne will not open after a full battery change. Power switch is on.. Batteries are in correct position. Have had container about one year. Worked well initially, but not now. ANY SUGGESTIONS.

I’ve had this same trash can for a year now even got a replacement lid in March last year. But today it went CRAP and even leaving all the switches off for a full 24 hours and it has fresh energizer batteries from a week ago. Now it won’t work the sensor is totally gone like half the light on top works but then it completely doesn’t. Lame

Imagine rats and mice getting inside the bin, all they have to do is pass the motion sensor bit, the lid opens if they can figure that out they very smart animals they can just find a way of getting in and out

You can power off at the switch and it will not respond to motion. Its still functional open/close manually and holding the lid upright if needed. Actually works great if you dont want anyone playing with it.

mcorrade I bought this same exact trash can last year January and by March it went back so I contacted the company directly and they mailed me a new lid. I put in energizer batteries and it lasted a good while. I recently put in new energizer batteries like a week ago and now the sensor won’t work 😑
