I didn't see you remove the bucket, was wondering if you had trouble doing it because when I take mine out it hits the inside of the lid and the only alternative is to lift the lid back and when I do it sounds like it is going to mess the machinery up. Will put in a call to the manufacturer on Monday to see if there's some trick to it or what I'm doing wrong.

I just received the 58L dual trashcan today and since the time of your video, they've updated it and now it can "close" and "stay open" by command. So there's 3 commands now in Dec 2019: "Open can," "Close can," and "Stay open." The stay open command blinks a blue light to let you know it is paused. Then when you walk away from the sensor it closes or you can just say "close."

That's very nice. I have been renovating my kitchen and it would be a nice feature to have it stay open. Unfortunately since it is not a Wi-Fi device, it is not updateable on machines made before that change so previous owners won't get that feature.

Thanks for your videos! I just watched your iRobot i7+ video and learned a few things about mine I just bought. Thank you! This trash can is cool but I would guess it will open for your dog as well. Any insight on that?

The sensor area that triggers it, is on the top of the sensor not the front. Unless your dog is taller than the can, it should not trigger. Walking in front of it does not open it.

Best purchase of 2021 for me! Have nothing but love for this amazing machine, but will say that my timid dog is a bit leery when he sees it open. :-)@@seanstraindepot

Thank you so much for doing a comprehensive review on this trash can. I have one question. If a bag leaks is it easy to clean? If anyone owns this let me know how you feel about it. :) Thank you so much!

I've never been IN LOVE with a trash can...until now. Replaced my 1980s trash compactor with this amazing machine, and couldn't be happier. Not only does it look great and work well, I've increased my recycling and reduced my trash significantly. Worth every penny!

Yes, easy wipe out if bag leaks.

Before I end up buying one. I do have an important question regarding Odor protection. From your experience from this product, do you find yourself changing the garbage much more than you want do to the smell? Or does simplehuman block odor from spreading? Only reason I'm asking is because i notice when it closes it doesnt seem like its a tight close.
@seanstraindepot4 жыл бұрын
There is a pretty big lip there where the lid goes down into and I have no odor issue (except of course when the lid opens and something in there is rotting like old chicken or something) But no smells escape when closed. the lid seats don on that gray plastic above each bin. Bed Bath & Beyond carries them, so buy it there , try it and return it if you don't like it.

@@seanstraindepot haha i actually went to bed bath & Beyond but they didnt have the dual sensor version so i couldnt purchase it. smh I'll just have to wait i guess. thanks for responding to my question btw!

The store can order it while you are right there and have it shipped free to your house.

Just so you know, the sensor on these cans goes bad after about 4-5 months. I have replaced mine 3 times and no longer am able to have it RMA'd because Simplehuman refuses to exchange it anymore. So I ended up buying it from a big store and ended up returning the broken one and selling the new one on ebay so I got my $$$ back in the end....😏 Good luck with your purchase. Hopefully they fixed the sensor issue.

I thought the same thing happened but it turns out when the batteries get even a little weak (even though they aren't dead), it starts to act up as if sensor is going bad. I just used the AC adapter instead and no issues. Or replacing batteries more often would solve it also.

How's the can now? Does the sensor and voice command still works? Any issues or advice?

No issues so far

2 years in is this can still working as it should?
@seanstraindepot2 жыл бұрын
Yes & No. It works fine, but also will just randomly open for no reason (maybe hears a sound, or flash of light through window, I can't find a common trigger). But I can hear it open, then close even when no one is in kitchen. Simple Human told me to unplug and plug back in to reset. But eventually it starts again. I asked for replacement and they want a video of it doing it (now how would I make a video of something that does it randomly when no one is in room). I think they have a defect (or maybe had one in early models) but don't want to admit it. Doesn't really affect its normal operation so I just let it open and close when it wants, lol. Newer versions may be better.

@@seanstraindepot Thank you for your feedback. I'm on the fence on grabbing either the dual sensor or step model. I'll look around if there are any post on the newer models if they are experiencing the same issue. Cheers mate!
