Thanks, but Im using the camera parent to a null object, when I move the null the focus is lost.

hmmm.. 3.40 add null 1 - turn on 3D for that layer. then make sure 3D is on for other layers, and copy positions of each layer one at a time and add to null layer over time. then select null 1 and camera and choose Camera; link focus distance to layer this is linking the focus of the camera to the null layers position the phrase 'parenting' used, is not what you think of as parenting usually....it is really using that expression / short cut.
