To reiterate how it works: Steam turbine Inlets: 5 Inputs: each not blocked inlet up to 0,4 kg Steam (2 kg max) Outputs: same mass as input steam of 95 °C water Power: proportional to heat removed: 850 * mass * (temperature - 95) / 210 W, where mass is kg and temperature is °C of the input steam. That is 1032.5 DTU per W produced (877 590 DTU for max 850 W) Heat: Heat removed steam -> water: mass * (temperature - 95) * 4179 DTU Self heating 5 000 + heat_removed / 10 DTU or 103,25 per W produced (92 759+ DTU at 850 W) Self heating is not caped as Watts, so if you keep heating your steam, the turbine will also heat more. Optimal production of 850 W: 5 inlets: 2 kg 200°C steam 4 inlets: 1,6 kg 226,25°C steam 3 inlets: 1.2 kg 270 °C steam 2 inlets: 0.8 kg 357,5 °C steam 1 inlet: 0.4 kg 620 °C steam (Bugged, work's only on 50 % effectivity) So basically the steam turbine converts heat to power and it doesn't matter on the amount of water that goes through it. It converts 1032.5 DTU to 1 W (thats 877 590 DTU for 850 W). To not waste power the only thing you need to pay attention to is that you input maximum 877 590 DTU into the system.

a question, english is not my primary language so i have something lost in translation, in 14:06 when he says that the amount of steam is the problem, i get lost in the explanation, so my question is, if i want to use the same temp setups in the thermostats, i have to use 1 kg of water for obligation?

So how do you fertilize the weeze worts if they're trapped in a room?
@suzyb1499
@suzyb1499 5 жыл бұрын
In the interest of efficiency it's better to keep the turbine at 99'C and have the water output wind past it in radiant pipes. That way the water returns to the bottom as close to boiling as possible. This can be achieved by having the weezeworts in an adjacent chamber, with a heat lock between them.

Something that Brothgar didn't know at that time: There is a bug which occours when water turns into steam at very high temperatures and pressures. The water moves the steam out of the tile into surrounding tiles, resulting into deleting of mass and temperature.

your door system would make a lot of sense with an inconsistent source of heat like a volcano. you could get rid of the bottom doors cycling heat into the system and just capture whatever heat the volcano puts out as it cycles. The doors blocking vents can open and close to keep the turbine at full wattage during the dormant period.

I just use a water tank + a shutoff valve between the steam engine and the volcano room.... When the pressure of the room is below 20kg/tile steam, i open the shutoff valve so water come to cool down. When the heat is over 140/180°C a thermo sensor switch on the steam engine so it start generating power. (and pump steam to lessen the room pressure and store water to water tank etc...) Ofc it's not optimal, but i dont mind: it works well enough for me :D

I think I'm going to have to re-watch this a few times to fully understand it. I ran out of coal and need a new power generator, so I think I'm going to look into steam power. Fortunately, I have some wood so I can use that for a short period of time while I dig down into the depths and try and get steam power going. Though I don't think I'll care much about efficiency at first. EDIT: Though I do have a copper geyser, so maybe I'll try and get power out of that first.

Have you ever tested the insulation value of having hot or cold normal pipes behind insulated tile vs insulated pipes behind normal tile? And which combination is better? You could also mix it up with radiant pipes or metal tiles. Is it actually worthwhile to put insulated pipe behind insulated tiles and how much so? (of course I'm assuming you aren't using 'insulation' materials to create these insulated tiles or pipes)

Assuming that you have materials that can handle the steam temperature (like simple steel and crude oil) you could maybe re-use that waste heat from the turbine room by actively pumping it back into the warm-side. I don't know if that heat-pump would be paying for itself in terms of the extra energy added for the generator, compared to deleting it but even if not it would be a very clean and self-contained solution at least.

so how many factors in total ? pressure and temperature ? that's it ? so you should do a 3d chart, pressure temp and watts
@rocksfire4390

i mean you are wasting energy, the wheezeworts are destroying the heat generated from the turbine, that could be recycled back into the system! the heat generated by the turbine is always equal to 10% of the heat destroyed, thus every 10 seconds or 10 cycles you get the 11th second or 11th cycle for free by grabbing this heat and putting it back into the system. another way of looking at it is instead of the turbine destroying 877,590 DTU/s for 850 watts it only destroys 799,831 DTU/s for 850 watts. is it worth it? most likely not as there are a ton of ways to get heat for almost no cost....however this would be the most effective way to run a turbine.

I think I figured out a way to produce net energy out of steam turbines+aquatuners run super coolant through 2 aquatuners, and heat up 102 degree or higher polluted water set automation to turn on 3 steam turbines and refill water pump (with valve set to 6kg/s for 3 turbines) at 194+ degrees once everything is heated up, you should get net energy out of it, but not much, around 150watts. Its not that practical, but i think its fun though. I tested it myself, but found no practical use out of it... maybe you can try the setup and see what you get out of it?

I noticed the fluctuating liquid and gas in pipes issue recently myself. My old hydrogen generator worked perfectly fine up until about a few weeks ago! My laptop (which I never update) still works flawlessly. Was a soft update done to the game? my concern is what changed?? something obviously did. I have also noticed that depending on where the hydrogen generator is setup, the system works differently as well. so odd. What are your thoughts on this?

I'm less sure it works. Seems like it pulls heat out of the steam room even if it is turned off. I can't manage to keep it under 100c with it's own output. So far it appears like it does need active cooling.

"Steam Turbine" is the wrong wording now. as of now its nothing but a "heat flusher", they should rename it. from that 850 Watts you will need about 80% to keep the Turbine cool... in your example u need six (6) Weezwords to keep the one (1) Turbine cool. WOW! (two Anto Entropy Thermo-Nullifier to cool down my 4 Steam Turbines are not enough, if all 4 Turbines are producing 835W) (i use 5 Weezwords to keep my 4 metal refineries cool, and still can cool down my Farm to 1C) and as of now there is no endgame power source ;(
