man I was drooling over this pedal until I realized its basically the condo with a fuzz... I have had the condor since it came out, def should not be spending more than $700 on a pedal that I basically already have.

SO. I have a Benson Preamp which I absolutely love. If I keep the mids control and diode clipping bypassed on the Automatone Preamp MKII. Can I basically clone my "standard" Benson preamp? I would love to keep those sounds at the core and then supplement with the other tricks and the programmability.

1) Can this pedal be used straight into a Power Amp (such as the Seymour Duncan Power Stage or a Tube power amp) into a Cab? 2) Can this pedal be used straight into a cab sim into a recording interface/mixing desk? 3) Would the results of such usages be good enough to "replace" an amp?

you gotta remember that even if its possible, the sound of an amp is really the air being moved by speakers. I don't care how good 'people' say cab sims are, they are still not and never will be able to 100% reproduce the sound of a physical speaker.

I think I saw a video somewhere, where they use an expression pedal to morph between 2 settings. So then you could set the speed yourself.

This is cool and all but is it gonna last longer than 3 months. Bought a new Benson Pre Amp in late November. Enjoyed it at home for a month or two and it crapped out on me. Significantly less volume when the pedal is on even when the volume knob up all the way. Sometimes don’t get any sound when it’s on. Tired of buying new pedals and only to have them die within a year.

Paul Cowart not sure. I hope so... it just happened last week. My wife and I just had a baby so life’s been crazy and I haven’t had a chance to reach out. I’m planning on calling the store I bought it from to see if they’ll take it back. It’s a pain in the ass to send a pedal out and then wait for it to be shipped back. Not something I expected for a brand new pedal that cost 240 bucks.

Now, I know how you price things! Preamp 250 + Condor 350 + Faves 80 + Fuzz 70 = Preamp Mk2 750. CBA makes amazing gear, no doubt, I own his pedals, but dang his margins are crazy high!

Margins? Are you some sort of whining communist? High price does not = big margins. The world is littered with the bones of 'premium' makers that went under because the makers didn't charge enough. I know people making bespoke products...in their garage (modest rented house) or their 'spare' bedroom. These are not greedy people, but price something at a level which allows them to drive a five year old Ford and the moaners start up. If you earn the same as them, and bemoan their prices, then to make it palatable to you they'd have to earn less than you, or do something Mc-else. Want something cheap? There's lots of 'adequate' gear around for very reasonable money. If you have boutique tastes then pay boutique prices, and be grateful they bothered when they could probably flip burgers to earn the same money.
