I retired from the police service 31 yrs ago and am amazed at the reluctance of the police to deal with a straightforward theft/handling stolen goods. They should not have asked if you wanted to prosecute or recover the stolen property. The service is nothing like what it was, senior officers as direct entry with only managerial and no previous police experience. It's all about reports and ticking boxes. Then we wonder why there is such a low crime detection rate

"I know my force wouldn't fingerprint for a theft' .... and therein lies the problem at the moment with policing. It has all gone wrong. Too many cuts to budgets = proper criminals get away with crimes. How about arresting everyone in the house on suspicion of the theft as they are there and it is, interviewing and when their prints come back on it after they made no comment interviews or said they didn't know anything about it / hadn't touched it ... then they can have a handling charge at least !

police budgets are bloated, what are you on about. They just don't prioritize it. They could easily with minimal money, take that saw and fingerprint it. easily. the police have a culture of not solving that many crimes, actually. if you look into the stats on it, you'll find I'm correct.

My house was burgled with over £5k of tools taken and £4k damage to the property. A few days later I phoned the PC with a partial reg number (5 out of 7 digits) that my neighbour took down only to be told that “there was nothing they could do with a partial reg” and they were closing the incident. No wonder people get away with it! 😔

Airtag+smarttag in most expensive items and smarttag 2 in everything els that have a cavity (remember to disable the speakers) make sure you get a Samsung s21 plus or newer (non plus doesn't have UWB) this allow precise locating when within 50 meters of the object (samsung keeps tag location history for 7 days so you can see where it has been and where it currently is approximately (Apple airtag only shows last reported location) you can even buy ready made airtag battery holders that uses 2x aa lithium battery's that makes them last for over 5 years Also this KZbinr tracker devices are good for larger really expensive items and the van it self (as sometime they just take the van) as they have UHF backup when Bluetooth and GPS fails.

@@leexgx AirTags are ok for tracking some items but they do have significant limitations. People use them for tracking vehicles and they shouldn't, as they are not designed for that and there's a good chance they won't be able to find their car if it does get stolen.
@leexgx
@leexgx 17 күн бұрын
@@stopthebus it's better chance to recover it then if you didn't use one (both recommended due to below) I do agree that the tracking use of them is a lot more limited because airtag and Google tags (moto tag or rechargeable Pebblebee) don't log where they have been (just last reported location) which is why I usually recommend Samsung smart Tag 2 as well as it has a 7-day history on the app (if your the owner) as you can see where it has been if you only discovered it stolen say 8 hours later (good chance they stop at a fuel station a long the way that has cameras) just make sure you disable the speakers if you are using both airtag and smarttag make sure the secondary phone is kept in the van charged as the tags will keep setting your phone unknown tag warnings, so if you use iPhone/Samsung as primary phone you keep Samsung/iPhone phone in the car as this surpresses the anti stalker feature) You can also make 10 year airtag and SmartTag using a ER14505 battery Still having a low jack tracker (passive tracker) like this companys KZbin channel is also recommended (as it has 2 more ways to locate once armed as lost, cell tower location, GPS and manual precise finding using UHF when close by) Also having a active tracker could be useful as well (reports it's location every 15 seconds ) but can be found if they have mobile sniffer (both both low jack and active tracker, require monthly payment)

That's nothing new unfortunately, I witnessed my car being stolen from my driveway in 2015 and the same thing happened - police never showed in person, had to ring and chase for a crime reference. Apparently the officers were retasked to a domestic while en route to me. As the theft had happened and wasn't a theft in a progress with criminals on scene, it's downgraded in priority. Amusingly a copper did chance upon the car a year later (was parked on a street and most of the interior had been removed). 15 years of progressive Tory cuts to frontline policing in action. :(

I no longer work in the trade anymore. I've been turned over 5 times in the last few years, including twice I've had my Stihl disc cutter taken. Along with endless Dewalt, Makita, Festool, Hilti etc, I've lost thousands of pounds from my vans over the years and in broad daylight so I've called it a day. Decided in September that after last lot got taken, even though my van was locked in a secure work compound that no matter what the thieves will always get what they want. At 50 years old I should be looking forward to slowing down in life, not worrying about my livelihood. Sad fact of today's life unfortunately.

Apart from turning up they appeared to do little else and totally reluctant to even try to arrest anyone. Although Wiltshire Police handled the theft report, on the basis the theft track lead to a private residence in Bristol, Avon and Somerset should have 100% progressed what we considered to be an easy theft arrest opportunity instead of saying its down to the Wilts force. If they had a fingerprint or DNA match with someone residing at that house they would have an arrest and easy evidence to get someone locked away. Theft is a crime, by them not pursuing an arrest opportunity they simply failed to realise they were through non action inviting more future victims to be targeted. Not good.... a very rare opportunity completely missed.

You can see why shoplifting is rife when the police have a money value that they deem to be not worth investigating. If a £700 saw isn't worth it, then a backpack full of £200-400 worth of meat, cosmetics, alcohol etc isn't going to get bothered with either. The police didn't seem bothered to check the rest of the property for other stolen items either! What was that second saw? Probably nicked too! Whole house should have been checked for any other potential stolen goods, not just 'oh you've got it back, there you go!'

Nice to see you back again with another video. I’ve discovered in the US, that in some cases while watching live court, I’ve discovered that prosecutors/district attorneys will reduce the charges against someone as a plea deal so they don’t have to prosecute them and spend the money required to do so. Usually an arraignment, the first step in a legal process to prosecute someone usually involves the sum of around US$2000 which is not usually recoverable from the defendant . I would imagine it is a similar amount in the UK. If the individual who’s being charged in the US for a felony, they could ask for a jury trial and that would cost the “state” as much as $10,000 by the time they get around to it and put together a jury. So you can see that lots of times they would rather reduce the charges and drag their feet then they would prosecute someone. In my estimation if someone were prosecuted and found guilty and sentenced for whatever is appropriate, it would make the news and be a deterrent.

Shocking! Did 4mph to fast on an empty road, leading into a village, 100yrds from 60 to 30mph, was treated as a criminal, paid and 3 points on your license..... stealing, breadwinners tools, no priority! UK has become a rogue state, stupid, fat and complacent, lost all its marbles. Tax dodging is the best one can do! Live your life and just forget all forms of decency! Did I learn from my panalty? Nope, just the opposit. Drive safe, but forget all government intervention, they are atupid, not for us but just for themselves! Drive wise, but ignore anything blue; timewasters!

You got caught speeding and you’re annoyed because you had to pay the penalty. I understand that you’re annoyed, but that’s unrelated to someone else not being convicted of a totally unrelated crime that required police action. How much time did you save by going 4mph over the speed limit for 100 yards? Or, do you regularly ignore speed limits because you’re a better driver than everyone else? Learn to read speed limit signs and slow down and you’ll be fine. You may also save a life.
@dotpeat1372
@dotpeat1372 14 күн бұрын
Hi tks for your reply. Apart from that my crime, speeding, is unrelated. My rational is not even annoyance, but a governmental misappropriation of a rule to increase income rather than address road safety. Also your reason, speeding to shorten my trip in time has nothing to do with it. Numerous other, justified, reasons for speeding can be mentioned. Law in general is a guidance to keep us all safe and happy. Enforcement of the law shouldn't loose to bigger picture and focus on genuine preventing crime, in my 4mph speeding, a farcical act. To avoid other people dangerous acts, i do speed, better safe than sorry, but playing with others lives is criminal. A free spirit loose from any dictatorship!

Tracking the theft of tools to a private residence is difficult and surely presents a golden arrest opportunity for those attending police officers. You've only got to watch Police Interceptors on Channel 5 to realize that policing in this country is at a deadend. I saw an episode recently where the police were involved in a chase with a stolen car with 4 people in it when they eventually stopped it it was full of drugs, they couldn't prove the people in the car stole it and none of them owned up to owning the drugs. The driver got a ban for dangerous driving even though he didn't have a license and a small fine, no action was taken in regards to the stolen car or the drugs.

17:15 Serial numbers and post codes should be stamped, punched or engraved into the metal or plastic structure of the tool or vehicle in multiple places, so that removing its identification would cause destruction of the entire tool or vehicle. Removeable ID labels are pointless in the event of theft. Removing stamped ID markings in a short space of time is also difficult to do if the item is tracked down quickly. I use an automatic centre-punch and stamp the post code all over the main most saleable parts on my motorbikes, as well as having a tracker in place. A hand-engraver can also be used, but the engraving is quite shallow. I stamp through a printed template that I stick on internal as well as external parts ... everywhere ... e.g. inside engine covers, carburettors. I put the ID markings in tight places, where it would be difficult to remove them with an angle grinder. If the parts do end up on eBay then the ID markings will be visible in the photos, even if they have been ground out, as the grinding would have to be so deep to get rid of the stamped centre-punch points.

It's an incredible yet easy find. It highlights the massive issue of zero willingness across the entire UK force to take a heavy stance on crime and how they respond. I hear it too often that they don't respond or can be bothered to investigate. They have made themselves too busy arresting persons over people being offended over Facebook posts instead of real crimes that are decimating this country and those trying to run a business. Your technology and systems of recovery are a testament to hard work and faultless electronics This video is well worth the wait Unfortunately i do not fund or support anything the BBC do and nor do i watch tv. Fair play on the police for actually attending, but that aside I’m just horrified at their attitude. There’s a crime been committed ffs! However in the case of this property I do wonder if it’s the usual fear they have of dealing with certain people. That place has a certain “look” about it both in this video and Google streetview and I’ve a good idea that the coppers simply don’t want to get involved. Saying no more; they might not want to arrest thieves but they’d sure be knocking on my door for KZbin posts.
