Can't believe Blind Spot monitoring isn't standard. Especially with how safety oriented Subaru is. It is part of a package that includes a power lift gate. I'd like BSM but am not a fan of power lift gates. I know I'm in the minority.

I have this exact model.... just got it a couple of days ago in fact.... the only difference is I have the upgraded LED lights on the sunvisors and mine is magnetite grey instead of red.... i've been wanting to get one of these since I worked at Subaru over three years ago, and I finally pulled the trigger and got it..... absolutely love it

I had a 92 or 93 Subaru Loyale and beat the life out of it. Sold it with around 280k miles back in 2010, I remember seeing it around town back in 2017 before moving from the area. I then got a 97 Outback for about a year back in 2015 and outside of having a ground issue somewhere, it too was amazing! I honestly regret selling that one but I wanted something with a manual. I should have kept the outback since it was just a second vehicle at the time.

Probably the best trim imo. The cloth seats are very comfortable and doesn't burn your skin in the summer. Pretty much has all the features you'd want out of an Outback. Just wish there was a pano sunroof option. You'd think for a car most people take to the outdoors you'd want that, but Subaru doesn't offer it... why.

I have 2023 Outback Premium with only 4K miles. I enjoy how it handles, goes thru snow and mud. I paid just under $31,500 with OP15. My only disappointment is that it gets 23 mpg city and 27.5 mpg highway. We just measured the mileage on a 500 mile expressway trip and it was a real shocker how bad the mpg was. But we like the 10 week old Silver Labrador puppy we picked up on the trip. She was named ":Stormy" because of all the storms we drove thru on the roundtrip to Hebron Indiana.

With how popular the Santa Cruz and Ridgeline are nowadays, I would say there is a good argument for bringing back the Baja. Most people consider it pipe dream, whereas I just see Subaru as ahead of its time. Crossover trucks were not selling 20+ years ago, but they sure as hell are now...

I am keeping my 2015 Outback with physical buttons, port injection, and thermostat vs TCV as my 2nd vehicle for mostly winter use. My primary vehicle now is a 2025 Camry LE which also has the physical buttons, duel F.I. and 60mpg.

If they’re still using them instead of a regular thermostat on the 2.5, then it still an issue.

How long does it take to reach the MPGs you mentioned? I just bought a new one today, but I’m currently only getting 19 MPG on the highway after driving over 125 miles. I understand that it needs to be broken in, considering it only had five miles on it when I got it.

I’m pretty set on getting the forester to pair with my truck, which I’ll keep as the “dirty work” vehicle. However, if the next gen Outback suits tall riders better, I’d much rather get it because of the 260hp engine. I test drove the obw, and that engine was a peach! I just wish it was available in the forester as well.

I know that there are three different types of the Subaru Outback Premium: Premium Basic, Premium, and Premium Limited, as seen in this video. The Premium Basic model comes equipped with essential features, such as a rearview camera, a touchscreen infotainment system, and standard all-wheel drive, making it a practical choice for everyday driving. The Premium model builds on this with additional amenities like upgraded upholstery, a larger touchscreen, a power liftgate, and enhanced audio systems for a more comfortable and enjoyable ride. Finally, the Premium Limited offers luxury touches, including leather seating, a power liftgate, and advanced safety features, appealing to those who desire a more premium driving experience.

If I may, I have an unrelated question. You always have your backpack seal belted in the passenger seat. Good way to help keep it from flying around in an accident, I never thought about doing that. What brand/model backpack do you have? I like the looks of it. It also looks like it will hold it's shape fairly well even empty. Do you like it? Thank you and keep up the great videos!
@AutomotiveAnonymous2083 ай бұрын
Of course. And without the seat belt it will fly onto the floor board, lol. The Brand is Renwick I’m not sure the model or where my parents bought it for me as it was probably 5 years ago. But when other people have asked about it I’ve been able to find it online by searching that brand with “men’s leather backpack”. It does hold shape pretty well, but I also have a backbone type writing booklet in the most back full size pocket on it, which also helps! I don’t think it was that expensive, but it always felt to nice for me to really use for anything, so when I started making videos 2 years ago and wanted a professional bag for my GPS and stuff it made perfect sense for that and it’s held up really well to the light duty use. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it!!

What are the differences, in terms of construction quality, that we see separating Subarus built in Japan vs. Subarus built in other countries? From a related perspective, what is it about Subaru production management, parts & materials, &/or assembly lines in other countries that decreases build quality relative to the superior build quality of Subaru production in Japan? On a side re' turbo/non-turbo variants, I've test driven the (Japan built) naturally aspirated 2.5 Outback Sport in addition to the Touring XT over the past fortnight. The turbo is a more exciting car to drive, however I was perfectly happy with the naturally aspirated non-turbo too. The non-turbo allowed me to accelerate to highway speeds & merge without hassle, showed no difficulty maintaining speed while climbing the steeper roads of Mt Dandenong & the Victorian Highlands, & the pedal/acceleration was more predictable (though after 2 - 3 weeks in the turbo I would likely adapt to pedal feel & turbo lag). Likewise I'm not interested in driving at warp 3, the non-turbo consumes less fuel & granting there are fewer moving parts, the non-turbo is less likely to require repair &/or replacement. Whether I purchase an XT or not, my decision will likely be determined by a casual coin toss. Either which way, as an amateur landscape photographer who spends much of my discretionary time driving on icy roads, sketchy fire trails, & mediocre country roads riddled with potholes the size of Chicxulub-sized asteroid impacts, I've test driven many trail happy SUV/wagons over the past 4 months. The naturally aspirated outback & outback XT are arguably the best AWD SUV/Wagons I've ever driven that can be purchased new for under 60 - 65k AU respectively. I'm super excited to be jumping out of my prehistoric, though very loveable VW Golf GTI & into an Outback within the next month or two. Thank you for all that you do, Mr Anonymous!

I really appreciate your comment and the detail of it! I don’t personally know of concrete evidence that Japanese assembled vehicles are more reliably put together than those in the U.S. But it just seems like the vehicles that are assembled there seem to have fewer quality control issues, but maybe that’s placebo assumption. 🤷♂️ Either way I agree, a Subaru Wagon is a great adventure ready vehicle, especially in the snow!

If Subaru would raise the suspension on the Legacy like on the Outback, my wife told me that she would replace her Outback with a Legacy when her Outback wears out. Hopefully her Outback will last another 15 years, but I highly doubt it. They’re simply not as durable as a Toyota.
@Doc18553 ай бұрын
When I bought my wife her Outback, I had the choice between the Crimson Red or the Cinnamon Brown Pearl. In 2019 the Crimson Red did come with the Ivory interior, as did the Cinnamon Brown. If it would have been my choice, I definitely would have bought the Red one. But ultimately the car was my wife’s Birthday gift from me to her and I know how much she loves Brown, Tan, Bronze and Gold, so ultimately I bought her the Cinnamon brown with the Ivory interior. I told her that it was too dark and would show way too much dirt and dust. She promised me that she’d always have it washed and clean. She reminded me of a child begging for a puppy and stating that she would always pick up the puppy’s poo and that would last about two months. Sure enough her Outback is ALWAYS super dirty. If she has it washed once every 2-3 months I usually can’t believe it. I bought the California Car Duster, so I’ll usually try to clean it every week. I’d be embarrassed to drive a vehicle that dirty. Her next vehicle WILL be Tan metallic, Gold, Bronze or White. Whenever we go somewhere together, I refuse to take her Outback unless she just had it washed. It’s funny, three years ago was when I bought her the Outback for her birthday. She just had another birthday and this year I took her out for Prime Rib. But at the end of the day, after 15 years of knowing my wife, I’m still madly in Love with her. She’s still my world, Filthy car and all 🤪

My sister recently needed to buy a newer vehicle. She knows that I’m an absolute automotive fanatic. She was wanting an AWD vehicle so I told her to buy either a Toyota Venza or a RAV4 hybrid. She and my mom came up last summer to visit. My sister fell in love with our Outback. She had asked me about buying an Outback this time for herself. I told her NO. She asked me why, so I told her the truth… I told her that a Toyota would take the abuse of not being very good about maintenance but a Subaru wouldn’t. Our brother has an Outback and they love theirs. Of course my wife loves her Outback as well so my sister decided to buy one too. Personally I think she’s asking for problems in buying the Outback only because she’s very Bad about routine maintenance. And my sister lives in Southern California so there’s no need for an AWD. Oh well. I hope it lasts.

I test drove the 2025 Outback Premium last week. Two problems. First, has the infamous thermo control valve instead of a plain-old thermostat. Second, it has the worst-sounding audio system I've heard in any modern vehicle. Worst than contractor-grade pickup trucks with two speakers.
