the only good thing about money in this field is, now you can order a part from a catalog. Before 1986, you would hack up a perfectly good 340/383 Mopar just to save a rusty Hemi. Now a 340 Duster can be saved without trips to Carlisle for NOS interiors and southern junkyards for body parts.

I know what you mean, but I think in a lot of cases, these cars would just rot away without these high end teams restoring them. Unfortunately high end restoration costs high end bucks! It's the same in the UK with the old classic hatchbacks. Something that was 4k a few years ago is now 20k.

i had a 71 torino 500. 2 door, auto on the column, 351c 2v. i had factory air, and the same original blue that this car had. most people thought it was a little 6, until i put on good dual exhaust. i managed to swap in an edelbrock 268 grind, aussie 351c heads, and had to port match a 2v port, 4v manifold. also took the time to swap in an aluminum radiator. the c6 was slipping a bit but i still managed to win a lot of races. i miss looking out that sunken rear window and effortlessly laying rubber for blocks. i put on 15 inch rims, cooper tires, and new springs on all 4 corners. the power steering stayed stock, but i went from disc up front and drum in the rear, to adding a power booster to the brakes and feeling much more stable and capable. i was saving up for a new transmission and a new center section for gears and locker in the rear when i lost my job. i held out for months, then i got a lot of final notices to pay or lose heat and power, among other things. i had to sell it. ive wanted to get another since, but now im disabled and need hand controls, and a bench seat with an automatic. i hope to find friends to help me if i find another, it was the car of my dreams. id settle on any 2 door from 68 to 71 though. fastback is the only way to go.

@@amyhurley4461 I was out of work, had bills and my dad was in long term intensive care at Mayp Clinic. I found a new job in 3 weeks, and I've regretted selling my beautiful blue beast. Other vehicle I miss a ton, my 75 f250 hi boy. Pieced the grill together and fixed lots of interior stuff with good old JC Whittaney catalog. I was 17 when I had that, it was stock, 360, Dana 60 axles, I swapped in an old rebuilt 1968 390 from a mercury station wagon. It waa all drop in, and I put a 4v edelbrock carb and intake and the cam was stock replacement with the station wagon. The cylinders still had cross hatching. I had the intake and exhaust runners cleaned up and it was a monster. Driving nice, staying out of the secondaries, full time 4, I got better mileage than my uncles 78 2 wheel drive f250 with its 300l6 and we both had c6 transmissions. Now I really miss building old big blocks, 300i6, and 2.3l engines up. No shope place in my area I can afford.

Agreed with everyone saying he ruined a nice original car, I bet Ford themselves with have given big bucks for a car in that shape, but the thing that makes you suspect how talented he is as a designer is that fact that he uses a set of templates to draw he wheels. Anyone who hasn't learned to throw a circle by hand isn't much of an artists especially if you are drawing cars. Most drawing of cars are done in a 3/4 view where the wheels obviously don't look round they are ellipses so you have no choice but to learn to draw them by hand, using a template to draw the wheels is amateur hour and means you can only ever show the car from the side.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :-(

Another fantastic build from the Clowns in Corona. Let's review the numbers first: He put $35k in parts AND 220 hours of shop time. He's in CA, so I'm sure his shop rate is at least $100/hr. That's 220 hours @ $100/hr = $22,000 in labor. So, all together, he's actually into this car for $57k, Nice, creative math from the TV crew there. Who wouldn't want to pay that much for something that could be built by a bunch of bicyclists (notice everything they did was "bolt on"? There is NOTHING done to this Torino that the average guy couldn't do in his garage. And how in the world did they manage to buy such a clean car AND STILL put $14k into paint & body?!?!?! Maybe the buyers are getting smarter? He got the stance all wrong, it looks straight out of the 70's with the trunk sitting so high up the air, and did anyone notice how low the headers hang? The worst thing is, ALL of the parts to make this a really clean build are out there, but with Chris the Clown sourcing parts (who has no idea what he's doing, and has probably never turned a wrench himself), they will never find them. Pretty soon, these goofballs will run out of suckers to offload their money losing cars to. Then what are they going to do?

This car was "super clean" to begin wit and they ruined it. I hope they never did sell it lol and i hope if they ever do they get bent over hard with a rusty bolt and no lubrication

Who wants a great big mussel car with an automatic on the column? If you'd put in bucket seats and a floor shifter it would .have sold.

He started with a beautiful one-of-a kind car and turned it into a mexican style cheap-ass custom. He ruined it. The 'SMC brand' leaves me cold in the first place. Just an honest original car with a punchy V8 would have sold for about the same money with less than half the cost. The finished car has the look of a highschool kid's wet dream.

Barry wouldn't have bought it if he was going to leave it alone .People were willing to pay more for Barry's car than they were that completely restored cobra Torino fastback.Taking the engine out would no longer make it original. She only put about 170 miles a year but you can tell anything she replaced was new.You could put 100 000 on that old 6 and would still run great.

If you really wanted to be different he would upgrade suspension maybe a wheel and tire package but the main thing I would do is completely rebuild at V6 and slap a couple turbos on it keep it the way it looks I'd have it the ultimate sleeper
