I love your down to earth & sincere approach Lucky, keep up the good work! I enjoy many of the bigger YT videos, including DDE, but several months ago, I just burned out on the same Super Car bought or leased, the typical popular wrap, wheels, etc. It just gets old, as much as I appreciate their hussle & sincere efforts but the click-bait just wears thin. I don't care about Hypercars, etc, it's just so far removed from the real world car guys I know. I'm a 61 year old enormous car guy, who has had & built 93 vehicles many classic muscle cars, Vettes & hot rods, so this comes from the heart.

Love your content Lucky. As a business owner, I totally get your perspective. One of the most encouraging things an employee said to me is "Heavy is the head that wears the crown". He said this because he had also had his own business and knew that while the duck swimming across the pond seemed smooth and graceful, their feet are moving a million miles an hour.

Not only is KZbin slowing down, Hollywood in general is slowing down too. Before the writer's strike, the entire industry ordered (as an example) 1000 TV shows. After the writers strike, they're ordering 700. While the new union contracts increased the wadges for those who are already working, there are less people working overall because they're making less TV shows. I love how you talk about the car industry's financial stuff with the banks, lending, etc.. And how the auto industry is a lead indicator of a weakening economy. Hollywood is also an indicator and it's getting tough out there for people looking for work in Hollywood.

It depends on the cpms (cost per thousand impressions) but just to give you an idea of what youtubers competition is getting the 2024 olympics streaming cpms were in the 30-50 cpm. Somebody with 500k subs tends to average 50k views. So we are talking about $120-$250 per upload if he matched olympic level cpms which I highly doubt.

Hi Lucky, this was actually one of your best videos. The problem is society itself. Like when in a small town, with maybe 50k people, a Walmart opens up. Everybody goes to that Walmart and all the small shops that have been there for 30-40 years are closing down. Than the people ask "Why did they close?". The thing is that we are all very lazy and a majority of people do not understand the business/ROI logic behind it and most do not care.

People that have not started and run a business often have no idea. Almost any business is tons of work. In the end the addition and subtraction multiplication and division is the reality. Do something because “ you love it” or want to “ give back” only works for a while. It has to make money eventually or you won’t love it so much anymore when you’re broke.

My Firm is based in the UK and we operate in major European markets as well. This gives us a wide range of influences and helps to smooth out the inevitable ups and downs as the various (and very different) economies go through their financial cycles. Lucky mentioned that 80% of his Views are from the USA, and that is a vulnerable situation to be in. As that rather isolated country deals with a recession (even if most Americans will not admit this) it is becoming obvious that many car owners will be forced to reduce their car budgets and will, perhaps for the first time in their lives, have to quickly learn how to deal with the disadvantages of owning cars that are seven to ten years old and require constant maintenance and repair. Therefore, it is likely that KZbin automotive Channels will need to move away from the "Trust Fund Baby" and "Entertainment" market and into a much more practical, realistic, serious and affordable world. Egos will suffer, fantasies about "supercars" will be forgotten and those who believed in the hype will disappear. The Real World is arriving in the 50 States, and the internet will be faced with a rocky road. Better buckle up...

I appreciate your insightful commentary regarding the financial aspects of KZbin. I offer that some of my most watched channels are openly sponsored by [usually] related companies. Your channel and Jay Leno's Garage are the only automotive channels that I watch. I'm not in the business but I worked for a car dealer in the 1970's before I joined the Navy and your stories resonate. I mainly watch KZbin for real estate, financial, home renovation and boat repair advice. I'm dumping channels where I start seeing drama or cry face, sensationalist headlines, excesive flexxing or other click bait tactics. They've run out of material and now the bad advice is coming.

You touched on one reason automotive KZbin is dying - the "Look, I just bought a **** for $400,000 !" videos are getting old. Most people don't have multiple hours each day to watch videos so they are more choosy. Schmee is a perfect example. His views per video are really down because it's boring now. Guys like DDE have basically burned their bridges with so many that I'd be surprised if they last much longer. Car guys doing other content, like showers, is really sad but can be enjoyable at times. At times... I hope the good ones thrive, and the mediocre ones get better. They're good people.

Never really understood the hate with sponsorships. Pretty much all form of entertainement has ads. It pays for the content. Whether it's a TV show, the super bowl, all social media platforms, and so on. No one seems to complain about those commercial structures. I started back in 2018 and since then ive had to build multiple streams of income to contine producing content for my viewers. Affiliate marketing, our own parts store, sponsorships, merch sales etc. Just like lucky Lopez, we turn down thousands of dollars in pontential money from companies that are offer products/services that don't align with our ethics or are totally irrelevant with our core audience. At the end of the day for us content creators, the more money we can make from our videos, the more we can sustain everything and scale in the process. Lucky Lopez, keep at it man, that break does eventually happen when you least expect it 👊🏼

Your monthly costs seem excessive. $4000 for a videographer/editor? You do mostly just stationary talking videos. $1500 for editing shorts? Someone on Fiverr would edit in the same style as yours for a 1/4 of that. Or since you are paying an editor now, he should be doing that. $500 for subscriptions? Storyblocks, Epidemic sound, adobe could all be had for around $100 per month. What else do you need? Not hating on you. I’m just curious as to the excessive monthly costs. I’m a long time KZbinr and viewer of your channel.

The people on fiver for shorts are garbage my guys really good. My Talking Heads videos are not that crazy but it’s me moving around if you watch my Copart video a lot of my new videos coming out or gonna be moving around. I have tons of subscriptions. I usually pay a whole year to averages out to a couple hundred dollars a month. My CRM software other things that I used to manage my subscribers on Facebook, Instagram, KZbin and other businesses. Believe it or not my largest expense is my new studio. I’m about $35,000 into it and no one’s even seen it. lol. My cameras probably about 6000 bucks the lenses have a lot of really cool stuff. I don’t showcase it so the new. Look I’m going for you will see next month.

Getting sponsorships for your channel is the goal because it’s a way to get capital to grow the channel and provide better content especially with a high overhead cost that you want to put in your channel. I think it’s a good sign because it will incentivize you as a KZbinr to keep making content for us to enjoy. My only gripe is when shady sponsors are pushed like “established titles” or “prager U” or some dubious crypto hustle. I saw a KZbinr bashing a company and that same company advertised on his platform which makes no sense. I hope you are able to keep making content especially with those open mouth thumbnails 🤣🤣🤣
