Good project Brandon. Is it a final year project at Deakin? I hadn't seen anyone else in Australia looking at autonomous vessels using self-trimming wing sails.

Thanks John! Yup, it is a final year project at Deakin. It is completed as a uni project, now I am thinking of adding Tacking algorithm for personal project. Currently it sails with controlled conditions like in broad reach and gybing (gybing is mechanically controlled by the self-trimming wing sail). It is very niche field! There is OCIUS in NSW, and looks like Saildrone is building something here in Australia, then there's us, and that's pretty much it XD I see you have tested your boats at Lysterfield , are you still developing them?

Hi Brandon, It is still a very active project. I do my testing on Lysterfield Lake with the aim of operating in Bass Strait. I maintain some notes on the development here: thevoyagerseries.blogspot.com/ BTW, I only gybe, not tack. I couldn't reliably tack autonomously, and over long distances it doesn't matter.
