Fantastic video for people like me at the grad student level. Clear, exhaustive, and well-paced. Just what I needed to start dissecting the autophagy literature. I'll be checking out your other videos soon!

Thank you. I wonder what you think all the supplements and senolytics that interfere in these delicate processes to theoretically gain longevity or healthspan.

Congratulations, this is a really world-class presentation on a new and exciting subject. You've done a remarkable job of explaining to my mind so many important aspects that I had found very difficult to grasp prior to viewing this very well done presentation, thank you so much

hello from italy, thank you for your videos. i dont understand one thing about autophagt. why do fasting increase autophagy? i dont understand the logic of this. i can understand that during fasting the cell has less amminoacids so that the cell since needs them for proper function,it starts to break down protein, ages inside the cell to get the amminoacids. But during fasting the cell should not go into starvation mode, because glucagon, cortisol, gh increase the break down of fatty acids in the adipose tissue, and help to bring energy to the cells. So in theory during stravation cell should have energy from adipose tissue and the level of atp in the cell should be normal. But because we are no eating protein, the cell is lacking of ammino. So during fasting what really trigger autophagy? only the lack of amminoacids? thank you for your help

In the complete absence of amino-acids, nutrients, nutritional protein and glycogen depletion (as in fasting), how long time does it take for the autophagy process to get rolling-on in a meaningful way? thank you!

Hi AJ, Thank you for this comprehensive video. Really helpful. Could you help me to understand; 1. How these names were given to Autophagy proteins ATG1, ATG2, ATG3 ...... are they all similar to each other? 2. Also I saw some proteins have ATG4 isoforms (ATG4A to ATG4D) what does this mean?

Hey AJ, awesome video! I was just wondering where you obtained your back round information from. Was it from a textbook or from other articles that were found online? I'm investigating the aspects of autophagy and the development of the ATG12/5/16 complex, and i wanted more information on the basics of autophagy.

Can I know which sources you used to sum up this presentation? I am now working on the kind of same topic, and your video is quite helpful and it would be more helpful if you share your study/information sources like books/articles..
