Great Content...Subscribed! Got some question.. 1) What causes this type of oil leak? 2) How does the valve cover gasket leaks? I changed mine in my Lancer but the mechanic said the spark plugs were fine, no need to change although i was not able to see them since it was done in a garage. 3) If oil does hit the spark plug, what are the symptoms?

Thank you for your support. Valve cover gasket fail due to age wear and tear. They are very common on any cars to go bad in certain mileage . Of course depends how you use your car, I’ve seen them fail and cause leak within 40k-50k miles . Some in higher like 80k-100k miles. When they leak, valve cover gasket gets crack and leak outside the engine. When they leak internally , like it goes to your spark plugs. Your spark plug will cause misfire and you will feel that when you drive or sometimes your engine light will flash on and off while driving . I hope that answer your question

Should u put gasket maker all the way around the valve or just where the chain is?

Hey, I'm pretty new to working on my cars but have learned a good bit. So forgive me if this is a dumb question... I have a 10th gen lancer (2009), and am wanting to clean or replace the ticky lifters. However based on your video of the valvetrain I don't see where the springs or lifters could be located?? Are they far underneath the cams or something?? On the generation lancer before the layout looks basically identical to this, but the springs and lifters are very noticeably present with the springs being underneath the cams and the lifter being attached to the cam lobes. Meanwhile on this engine they are no where to be found as far as I can see in this video

With this engine, you have to remove the camshafts so you can remove the lifters. In order to do that, you have also need to remove the timing chain prior that. In older models, lifters can be removed 1 at a time without removing the camshafts

@@autopurlieu Thanks so much for the reply man I really appretiate it. I guess I am just going to have to forget about doing it then, I don't want to mess with the timing chain myself... Guess ill just have to live with just doing the seafoam in the crank case and cant clean or replace the lifters like I wanted. Happy holidays and thanks again

How much torque to tighten the bolts?
@autopurlieu Жыл бұрын
Normally they don’t go higher than 9ft/lbs. About between 6-8.8 ft/lbs
